"The copyright infringement of software (also known as software piracy) refers to several practices which involve the unauthorized copying of computer software. Copyright infringement of this kind is extremely common in the United States". I know some people do get caught. The penalty is a fin and some times jail. Only a VERY small fraction of people are caught though.
