Thank you so much for the sweet words, ladies!! Anna, you're reeeaaaallly making me want to start Blackwater Blooms! And Carolyn, I'm so excited that the beautiful NPIs that Anna pulled for you at NIHS are for Houses of HRH!! That means I have them to look forward to one day!
Carolyn, 100/3 will work great for 1/1 up to 40 count. I did the A Stitch In Time by HAts 1/1 on 36 count using 100/3. Soie Surfine works great for 1/1 on 46 count 😊. Happy Stitching!
Another great flosstube! Mohair goes up my nose & makes me itch so if I’m using it for someone else I put it in the fridge My Mum used to do this It’s quite funny to see the looks I get from friends when they see the wool in the fridge! Look forward to seeing the finished article
Happy belated birthday, Anna. I don’t like starting projects either, Carolyn - I think that’s my worst part about cross stitching. Love your Houses of Hawk Run Hollow piece - I’ve always wanted to do one of those, but haven’t taken the plunge yet.
Thanks for more info on the tile finish. I love it. The Bergenes from ikea also makes a great stand for the tiles. Always enjoy your videos so much. xoxo
Hi gals. On the topic of air conditioning in houses in CA, I think it mostly has to do with what was available at the time of construction. I live in the high desert area of SoCal and my house was built in the late 40’s. It didn’t have anything at all and we routinely have at least 60 days plus of triple digit temperatures each summer. I only had air conditioning installed 4 years ago. I have lived in my home for 25 years. We used fans and a window a/c unit for our bedroom for the first 21 years. I really think it all depended on what era our homes were built in. I wish we had spent that chunk of money earlier for our a/c but am truly grateful for it now. 😁
Thank you for showing the wool backing tip on your tile finish. I have done one tile but I like your finish - next time I will use it. I am looking forward to seeing your quilt. So enjoy stitching with you again.
Thanks for the new episode! I think you will really enjoy the Pony Needles, made the switch a couple years ago. Reduced shredding of thread & I think it will help with your thread untwisting Anna. I love them. It's great that you got the white eye makes it way easier to thread.
I am a new subscriber, retired math teacher. So glad I found your channel. I loved seeing your tile finishes! I think you call it recording when it is digital, maybe?
Always a joy, my friends. Carolyn, I have a question for you. On your tile finished, do you lace over mat board or foam board? I think I may give it a try. Thank you both for sharing. ❤❤
Hi Sarah -- I lace over mat board to keep the piece slim enough to fit in the groove. I also cover the mat board with thin wool batting. Cannot wait to see what you do! Happy Crafting -Carolyn
Thanks so much for featuring my tile finish, the kind words, and the backing tips! I’m going to get a variety pack of wool to use. That Shades of Pumpkin chart really spoke to me too.. project envy for sure!😊
@@we.are.curiouscrafters I finished the two autumn saltboxes (same ones Carolyn is stitching) last month- now I’m stitching the winter ones. They all need the tile finish treatment!
Oh my gosh! You both are wonderful stitchers. My wish list always grows after watching flosstube. And speaking of watching your latest flosstube, where do you get those awesome tile stands?
Wow, how did you find out about my non framed cross stitch pieces for the wall. Last early summer my daughter-in-law has a large wall in here kitchen which is along the path to get to all the other rooms. She thought it would be impractical for framed pictures or even small shelves. So I came up with the idea of frameless cross stitch work. Seeing it's a kitchen I decided to stitch gardening and kitchen related items for it. Just putting it on batted mounting boards. Can I send you a picture of the wall for you to show off?
Oh, please do send us a photo! That wall sounds so cool! DM us, if you're on Instagram, or email to we.are.curiouscrafters@gmail.com. Happy Crafting, Theresa! -Anna
Hello from Lyon in France ! First, I want to thank you both for your flosstube videos. I have been admiring the painting behind you. Did you paint it ?... Have a great week 😊
Hi, Joanne! Neither of us painted that painting. I've always loved it. Carolyn has an eye for color, as you may know from her cross stitching. :) Happy Crafting! -Anna
Another great video, ladies. I love all of your tile finishes and ideas for those. When you glue either wool felt or fabric on the back, may I please ask you what kind of glue that you use?
Hi Odette -- I just use a small amount of Aleene's Tacky glue on the corners and halfway down the sides. I put a heavy book on top for about 15 minutes, while it dries to ensure a good contact. I hope this helps! -Carolyn
I haven't been to Needle in a Haystack yet. I'm going to take the ferry from Vallejo to SF and then SF to Alameda. You mentioned you need an appointment. Do you know if they take appointments on week days?
Enjoy your outing, Jenny! I put the link to the website for Needle in a Haystack below. It looks like appointments are now recommended instead of required. Happy Crafting! -Anna www.needlestack.com
@Carolyn. I remember you showed a beautiful red wrap/shawl you knitted a while back, it was not a sweater and I've lost the name of the pattern but I think it was knitted pit of malabrigo yarn perhaps? Could you remind me of the pattern name and the yarn please? Thanks.
I'm wondering if the shawl was the Jane Jacobs shawl, which I knit with Lichen & Lace yarn. Here is the link to my Ravelry page: www.ravelry.com/projects/nonaKnits/jane-jacobs. I'll try to remember to wear it for Episode 62, so you can see if it's what you're thinking off. A super fun knit! Happy Crafting --Carolyn
