Only suggestion I have is on wood gathering. Chunk 4 ft sections into the sled and cut them up back at the cabin for more safety. Keep up the great work !
Excellent...love the cabin parts as someone who don't get to go in the woods much anymore, due to health reasons, I get to live vicariously through your videos.
Good times! For ideas, I'd enjoy seeing more of the trails in the area, riding or just waking doesn't really matter, animal signs, lay of the land, wild edibles, identifying plants and animals in the area, little fishing holes... Always enjoy the boil up of course. Cheers!
As long as you are having a good time the size of the fish really do not matter to much. I have a trout lake I go to here in Northern Ontario and most are about the same size as you guys were catching. Fun to catch and a great way to spend a day out on the lake.
Hello from a newfie living in NB. Great video. Loved the ice fishing and all outdoors events. For some reason everytime you cook something up I get hungry. Great lifestyle that will always keep you young at heart. Looks tk still be a lot of snow there. Waiting patiently for your next video. Keep up the great work. Maybe I'm also a little jealous.😊...thanks...jeff
Great video Bob ..if anyone deserves a off grid cabin it's you my friend...it will keep you busy fixing and cutting firewood...great trout fishing..I always say the smaller the trout...the better they taste😊...keep up the good work 👍
Great over night at the Cabin. Nothing like it and beautiful day ice fishing with some buddies. Great life to be enjoying. Looking forward to your next adventure
I love your videos. You are a hard working man and good at what you do. I can tell you enjoy life. I am a Maine, U.S.A. woman who grew up the country and every one fished and love to hunt. Keep doing what you are doing..👍
Good afternoon from here in Northern Ontario. Still have lots of snow but mild weather heading in. Enjoyed the fishing trip. Thanks for bringing us along.
Hi from southern Ontario. Great videos and hope you do well fishing - obviously the beginning of this video. Suggestion : May I suggest finish insulating the ceiling, even before replacing the side door. That will keep the heat inside in the winter and the heat out during the summer.
Great video Bob ! Any size trout is delicious trout ! Lol. Couple ideas for you. The cabin and plans for it. Necessities for you to get to it and things you bring each trip for a stay. How far is it from a main road and your plans to get to it once the sled is put away. Things needed aside from the Stihl while you’re there like the heavy duty dog sled and Coleman fuel etc. few ideas for videos and those are things I like so just drawing from that. Really appreciate the regularity of your videos ! Take care Bob
Another video idea- your wilderness safety tips. How to do certain cabin tasks safely that people might now know unless they have the years of experience. Tips for keeping a wood stove burning properly. Anything like that
Just a little tip, if you want you can take the fuel tank off your stove and heat up the very end of the generator with a lighter, you shouldn't get those yellow flames...At least it worked for us while out on winter exercise in the military...but we were in a tent so it was more of an issue then in a cabin.....Thanks for the video...
@@thenewfoundlandoutsider6354 Long story short; 1PPCLI, 2CDO, CANSOFCOM, Firefighter then back to CANSOFCOM and then retired as a Firefighter in NS...I worked with 1CER I think it was Bosnia and a few other places over the years...I did a mason/electrician /trades helper course in Chilliwack way back when ...

I know its hard to do but one vlog a week would be nice love that place i usually watch ure vlogs and more while drinking coffee on Sunday morning there all great 👍 😊
I'm new to your channel, up to now it's all thumbs up , I'm outdoor woman..and enjoyed this type life style with my hubby, like you he was good at all of it......
Found your channel & enjoy the videos! I have almost the same Enterprise wood stove in my cabin & recently bought the same am/fm radio as yours at a yard sale! My radio says it from Reader’s Digest lol 😂!
Thanks for bringing us along... Would it help to stack up a bunch of split wood on the edge of your porch to prevent the snow drift that you have to shovel all the time?
Hello. How are you and your family? I am the leader of a scout group here in my city in Brazil. I watch all your videos on TH-cam. I am also passionate about the outdoors, campfire and cabin in remote places. A big hug from all the scouts in Brazil. To the next. Goodbye!
You know you’re a true Canadian when you wear taxidermy on your head haha Jk. Me and my wife just discovered your channel. Big hello from New Brunswick!
My idea for a future video is, campfire stories. You could show how to make a recipe on the wood stove and share stories about it or any great hunting trips etc.
Great video , one thing I'm always interested in is the gear someone else uses ,from the snowmobile the axe you use ,the knife .Where you got it and if you like it .Thanks
Hey, got a question for you. My family is within a couple years of being ready to leave the city (I grew up sharing time between city and country), and we have been looking at either north western Ontario, or Newbrunswick, but Newfoundland is so beautiful. We’ve spent time in NB, and PEI, but we found the "islanders" to be sort of welcoming, but at the same time pretty darn closed to newcomers. In fact we had a few problems with that. What do you think they’re like out your way? It’s really the sort of life I’d like to live out there from what I’ve seen.
@@thenewfoundlandoutsider6354 Yeah, I’ve been there too. That would mean getting rid of almost everything I own for the move, and I’m not willing to do that. I’m close to the same age as you, and I don’t feel like starting over. Plus I don’t like grizzly bears. 🙂 You didn’t answer the important question though. In your opinion, are people out that way welcoming to new comers, or are we always "from away" like this stupid little islanders.
Your fur trim is hilarious! But I don’t know if I’d want those little peckers poking out right next to my face. 😀. You need my dad’s old mini coke bottle to put next to those fish for photos. 🙂. Still a great day in the outdoors. I had decided this year I’m going back to ice fishing, since I haven’t been since my dad died, but it was so warm. Ice didn’t firm up till a few weeks ago, and I’m not going out on it now.
Sounds good but if your only going after big trout and not getting out there for a meal of pan fries, your missing out, i learned years ago that big trout fishing is boring especially with a group of buddies like this that just like to catch and cook
How she going right there eh! It's a Great looking spot you have. I just stumbled upon your channel and am going to subscribe. I'm from Saint John New Brunswick. I have a channel also planning on building a log cabin soon check it out.. Thanks for sharing
Great video content!!!! A night at the cabin and a day ice fishing with friends along with a boil up. Times don’t get much better than this!!!👍👍
You got that right!
I really enjoy your videos.
Glad you like them!
Only suggestion I have is on wood gathering. Chunk 4 ft sections into the sled and cut them up back at the cabin for more safety. Keep up the great work !
I tried that, seems to attract alot of insects around the cabin like ants 🐜
Just received the same camp knife (Mora Fixed Blade Knife) you were using in this video yesterday. Larger handle hold better control, nice.
Excellent...love the cabin parts as someone who don't get to go in the woods much anymore, due to health reasons, I get to live vicariously through your videos.

I just found out that fiberglass insulation is a no no for open concept tin roof so i may need to rethink that because it sweats
Fantastic video a few friends fishing. We always use Premium fuel and a new spark Plug.

Love the expedition ski doo, swed axe 🪓 is great and the little 170 stihl is under powered but if you take your time its great.
Pretty bad when you have to haul wood into the woods. LOL Not big but you won't starve just have to tighten the belt. lol
Yes
Have you thought of building a windmill generator for power systems. You could have all the power you need for the cabin..
I have thanks
Was that a silver burch you cut up ? Do you look for chaga for tea ? The first tree you cut up.
No yellow birch
Did u get a new windsheild
Yes lol
A 2 marten hood ruffle, never seen that before. Do you have to secure your place against bears when your gone? Might make an interesting video.
I don't but yes i should make a video
Put the drill in reverse to clear the slush out of the hole instead of getting your feet wet
I'll try that
