The smaller power switch is probably for the car gear and the big one for the main equipment. I think the blue box is for the emergency backup battery when the elevator goes into emergency power mode👍

I was just in an Otis Series 1 Machine Room, there are typically 2 main power supplies, 1 for the lights and the fan in the elevator, 1 for running the elevator, and there's normally an emergency power box too.

@@Jamestube8439 I have never saw one of those backup power systems actually work. Maybe for the acceptance inspection, but a year later....nope! 40 years in the trade, now retired.

When I had a machine room tour at my college I was able to have a full in-depth tour of a submersible pump unit of an Otis series 4 hydraulic elevator with a facility manager and it was October 4 2019

The pump itself is actually farther down in the tank. This is probably a 30hp pump. The only problem with these submersible systems is that they actually require more power due to the lower operating pressure of 300-400psi. I really wish they would start making commercial hydraulic elevators again with high-pressure systems since they are more economical to operate.
Here is a cutaway of a similar pump unit:

1:13 here's some garage door safety tips
As a disclaimer NEVER EVER play with the garage door
    Garage door are not toys
If you get near the garage door when the garage door closes you could get hurt from it and specially when the garage door falls down to the ground
And elevators are not toys and I all ways ride elevators up and down one time and I hope you enjoy the safety tips and merry Christmas.

Interesting how they didn't install a HydroFit, this may be one of the last Otis Machine room required elevator, which I don't know is true, but this elevator sure is cool! :D

I think the standard machine room is still around. I kind of don't like the design of the MRL hydro's because it an electrical fire hazard waiting to happen, killing people in the elevator. With a machine pump tucked in the shaft where the elevator car is.

it's cheap! The motor is about $700 when it blows up and I guarantee it will! ticking time bombs so to speak....If they don't set the machine room on fire, count yourself as lucky A real nasty job to replace it.... like handling a greased pig
