Mr. B. Here ! 👀😎👍. Will check it out !
Maybe he wants challenging situations and killer content lol I should be a effin comedian

Was thinking the same thing.
Boooo lol camper special vid looks neat, was gonna watch but members only. Kinda lame. I wont be doing members only on my channel for that reason. Drives away viewers in the long run
The ammeter was bypassed because this era of gauge is notorious for getting hot, melting and starting electrical fires under the dash. Bypassing the gauge is pretty common in these trucks.
from the starter going " errr, errr, errr, errr... " for at least 60 sec.s.
I find that you do repairs the same way a lot of us do... if it ain't broke, don't fix it! You make good decisions on how you spend your money. I watch your videos for the entertainment AND to see how you fix things. I mean I've never worked on a 80s Dodge W100, but I find it interesting to watch you do the repairs. There are a whole hell of a lot of folks who wish they had your mechanical sense and abilities. Keep up the good work!
Thank you!
In this episode, Travis and his dad get donuts!
And assorted truck repairs. And a hat tip to another yt channel.
And a repaired instrument cluster. And hoses, and latches.
What a great resto on a good old truck.
👍🏻👍🏻😂 thanks for the summary.
You do you, Travis! Let them get their own channel!
You are sure a hard worker. Plus you have a great dad.
Thank you and yeah he’s great
Most of us do it cheap and save money where we can brother. You’re doing it the way most Americans with a family and just enough money for a hobby do it.
Mr. B. Here ! 👀😎👍. For years I toll people that good vehicles were junked , with a little hard work they would have 2nd or 3rd life, nice job . Happy motoring if you keep it . 👍👍👍👍
Not my position to say, but don't take critical comments personally. They do it to get likes and feel superior. Talking trash will always be part of youtube.
Total agree this guy will be one of the better mechanics they’ll ever see, that’s coming from a 61 yr old guy who’s fooled with stuff like this sence I was 17
Word of caution. that ammeter SHOULD NOT BE HOOKED UP! they are notorious for burning down trucks thats why it was unhooked. on these trucks and other mopars of the same vintage , the entire electrical system with the exception of the starter draws its power thru the ammeter. could be 35+ amps flowing thru it under certain circimstances. Its not worth loosing the truck just to have an ammeter working. its a very good idea to unhook it and do the bypass so as to distribute the electrical load around this wiring and eliminate the possibility of an electrical fire. it could occur even if the truck isnt being driven if something were to be drawing power. I drive a 74 dodge powerwagon and i damn near lost my truck from the ammeter. i wasnt even in the truck it had been parked for several hours and i started smelling electrical. i looked around and seen my cab was smoking profusely and the cluster was on fire. i was able to get the battery unhooked just in time . had i not been home or near the truck it surely would have burned to the ground. theres lots of good schematics on the internet showing you how to bypass the ammeter.
I agree with you. My '79 I bought on cheap because it had a dash fire from that same spot. A friend of mine helped to rewire everything in the dash and than some later and the truck was back on the road. I had 3 wonderful years with it before rust took it away. I was the 2nd owner. The first owner new got the undercarriage cleaned after winters. When the front frame rails rusted and broke it, was time to put her down. I miss that beast.
I just have so much joy with how you can bring these older vehicles back to life, and some of them appliances. I love your kitchen, and could only dream of having a set of them wonderful Westinghouse laundry care machines. Makes me drool thinking about them.
That is a cool old truck glad you got it home and a clutch is a cheap fix
Cherish those runs into town to the window shop and getting donuts with your dad brotha…. those are the best times. 👌
I love how thorough you are and that you actually take the time to do things right. Especially with so many half ass hacks on you tube.👍🇺🇸
Appreciate that
Nice rig. I like that you pay attention to the little details that aren’t really noticeable until they don’t work like the alt meter and other gauges I think that’s what will sell it. At $4800 you shouldn’t have any trouble selling it. $1800 on your dad’s gas pumps is a good deal also, all lit and ready to show.👍🏻
Hi Travis, Assuming the camper stopped running in 1998 from something non-catastrophic, I'm thinking it's a keeper. At least for one camping season. It's clean, powered by a 440 and has AC!! I'll be looking forward to watching you dive into that hood. Also, your Dad's gas pumps look great! I'm sure they will sell quickly! Best from CT
Most excellent job on the truck. I appreciate you showing the effort that goes into this type of project. Forget the haters. Love the gas pumps. 🙏🙌🙌👍🙏
Thanks for the video! Nice Job with the truck, and your dads gas pumps looks awesome! 👍
Double thumbs up for the NNKH-colab. You're both great guys!
Dad is really cool I see where you get it from lol good folks God bless you and yours
Thank you God bless
"the art of discernment" love your attitude. if more people were like you, there would be enough for everybody 👍
Travis, couldn’t agree with you more on using old parts when you can to save money. You’re a young man with a wise soul. Viewers like us who are budget minded wrenchers appreciate the advice. Keep it coming…
So true
nice job and who needs to spend money on parts if you don't have too don't fix what isn't broken
If it ain't broke, don't fix it, said....... Dad!
The reason the ammeter was disconnected is that they are a MAJOR fire hazard on these tin grilles. I'd take the wires off asap.....Nice truck 👍🏼
I noticed they do get pretty hot
Nice truck and your great work on it makes it better. I don't pay attention to people that constantly criticize or question others. Maybe they are insecure or have a control complex.... I love Dads pumps, when I was a kid some of the old timers gas stations still used them. I still remember 27 cents a gallon.
Hey, don't let the peanut gallery get you down. You are the one producing a story. You found that awesome W200 and YOU decide how to handle it. I have enjoyed your approach. Keep up the good work.
Great video…and those pumps are awesome!!
It’s awesome you met NNKH!
Yeah cool dude!
I have a 1985 Dodge D150 that I am working on. This gives me some inspiration to finish it up!
I love how you go through and fix all issues on these rigs to get them as best as possible I really appreciate that good work sir!
Thank you glad you enjoy
It's your cars and trucks and your money so can do whatever you want if it works it works
Yeah..... torching around the fuel tank doesn't look shady at all.😳
Love your content !!! Ignore the “cheap” talk…. I like frugal! That’s right down MY alley! Your Dad is pretty cool…..he carries a Sam Elliott about him 🤠👍
This truck reminds me of my '79, 3/4 ton. 2 wheel, 4 speed granny low. 318 under the hood. That thing was a beast. Really miss that girl.
edit to add. PPE. You should be using that. Stay healthy now and that will help you stay healthy when you are older. Your kids will thank you for it.
Nice job Travis, as you have learned a lot over the last 2 years that I have been watching you and Dad!
Travis the truck was parked 22years. Or you had it that long before fixing it. Great work on the 4X4 And your dad’s fuel pumps are too cool. Richard great work. Thank you men for your dedication!
💯👊
Yes I realized that and changed the title. And thank you
That camper Will It Run ought to be interesting
NEVER USE A OPEN FLAME NEAR A GAS TANK WITH FUEL IN IT!
I would never have the guts to attempt that 😬 He's not easily scared...
My guess is the truck was driven over some rocks that deformed the plastic gas tank, but while the plastic shell was pressed in it bent the sending unit components.
I cringed when I saw you vacuuming out the interior without a respirator. You can make yourself incredibly sick from rodent droppings
I agree, wear a SN-95 mask or a 3M mask with filters.
I was going to ask if he'd heard of hantavirus, but you beat me to it.
That's a good price on that truck $4,800 if I had the money I would buy it in a minute
Yes same here😊😊😊
Another awesome video guys, love that truck! also the gas pumps, nice job Dad 🙂looking forward to the Dodge camper, keep up the good work.
Fantastic job on troubleshooting why the gauges and sending units weren't working. Greta job on showing us how you fixed the issues with the gauges, etc.
This type of life seems so appealing to me. Late at night, looking at some old, fixed up gas pumps that you’re dad fixed while knowing you just fixed up and awesome truck. It’s really something. 😊
We like the life we lead
Should wear a respirator when dealing with the rat & mice shit!!I really like the pumps they are super cool!
I am the same way I try to repair something if it’s repairable on my 64 Chevy I just replaced the original gm water pump back when stuff was built to last
Try using a nut driver or socket instead of a screwdriver on hose clamps. It’s life changing!! I’ve injured my hand when the screwdriver slips off…..😮
Collaborations between people's favourite TH-camrs is brilliant.
Good job rounding this out. Turned out nice.
If I was in the market for a truck, I would totally buy the Dodge!
Nice job on the power wagon!!! Those gas pumps are cool as hell!!!! Tell your Dad good job on those as well.
I've got a 72 w100 with the 4speed and the 318 I work on on the weekends I've had her for almost 4 years fun old trucks to drive
Very nice pumps.
People are always good at spending other folks' money. Im glad i found your channel. The big reason i like your channel is i can watch it and my son can be around and i dont have to worry about foul language. I love that you work within budgets like the everyday guy. You and Vice Grip Garage are some of the best channels out there!!!
Would love to see the 4x4 in action!
Nice work on the Power Wagon. I'm old enough that I actually used one of the hand pump gas pumps that was at an old store near our summer lake place when I was a kid.
As someone who also lives in Tucson, and suffers the same booming inflation that is going on here, money = security, thus is why we don't spend more than we need to.
Also AutoZone, Oreilles are ripoffs.
I love a car fix-up vid with lots of gasoline and flames;) Great vid Travis, and good to see this truck coming back to life.
one trick I have used is an old steering wheel instead of a wooden block when dropping a gas tank. gives a nice radial area with support
Someone got a steal at $4,800 for that solid truck. Good segues to selling Chris's mustang and your dad's gas pumps.
Brought back a lot of really great memories. I had a '78. Frickin' unstopable beasts. Iffin I was closer, I'd be sticking the cash in your hand.
Absolutely fantastic episode absolutely love the pumps
man that truck is so cool - even when it was just sitting out there - but after all that work its even better
Excellent video that old dodge would be an excellent hunting vehicle. I west of where you got that truck from.
Great video! I just acquired a 78 C200 Prospector, 3/4 ton. I was wondering what to do with the gas tank. Your video gave me a lot of ideas for how to take care of the old gas(which isn’t much) in the plastic tank. I really don’t want to drop the tank, so I’m considering, siphoning it out, adding fresh gas, and changing the filter often, until it runs clear.
Excellent video
Love what you do with these old trucks
Power Wagon - great choice.
Another great video Travis, how's that the Chevy impala going, takes me back to my early days growing up in the sixties when those impala V8s were around, would like to see you take the rust out, and hope you will keep that car,
Awesome truck, great video. You're dad is such a cool dude, he might need his own channel.
A previous boss had a bunch of restored antique gas pumps, as well as car dealer signs, on display in the office.
Hey Travis, greetings from Tampa Florida!
Thanks for watching from florida
Epic episode great progress the trucks looking good🦾🔥🔥🔥
Burn the old gas a little bit at a time in the 12 valve. I burn all my old stale gas a little bit at a time thru the 12 valve mixed with old oil
Really enjoy your videos but please be careful using torches around gas tanks a good friend of mine lost a family
member doing the same thing you did heating up gas tank strap mounts for removal and there was a vapor leak
of some sort that found the torch and exploded killing him so please be careful I was cringing the whole time watching.
I do really enjoy your channel, I love doing this stuff myself and spend evenings watching yours and similar videos.
Dave
Sorry to hear that I’ll be more careful
Good point! Just what I was thinking!
Great work! Loved following this project! Keep the good work up 😊👍🏻
19:51 Ford power steering pumps whine when the wrong fluid is put in them. They were designed to use transmission fluid, not power steering fluid. Car owners and Jiffy Lube employees who don't know that put power steering fluid in the pumps when they are low which makes them whine.
Hey, glad to see you follow up on these rigs and not leave them rot in yet another place
I've been wondering, since you've put a new exhaust in the '60 Impala, do you have any plans on welding new rear floorpans in? Not bought new ones (if they're even available), but rather just fabricated ones, from sheet metal. Cheers
Cool gas pumps
To bad we can’t do this in NY unless it’s a barn find. 90% of anything out side needs more bodywork that mechanical.
14:32 you will be changing that filter out for a metal inline filter. I had a plastic one in the engine bay of my 83 F-150 and the heat from the engine bay made the plastic shrivel up.
The No Nonsense Mustang GT is a good used car. Somebody will get a good deal and a fair price. Yaaah you sold it!!!! Congrats!
I would've opted to power wash that tank anyhow. You've got an air compressor somewhere, no? Blow the air thru until there's no H2O left. (about ten minutes)
I wonder if someone tried jacking up the truck and didn’t realize they were on the tank until it was too late
Edit: ah you know what I just got to the part in the Will it Run on this one where you explain the previous owner told you they actually hit something. Helps if I gather all the facts before I start pondering aloud lol
I had a piece of shit 1997 VW Jetta that I was jacking up and wasn't looking and I jacked up one half of the car a good 6 in off the ground with the jack on the floorboard. 😂
Only thing I would do to it if I you got to get one of them Hood ornaments the ram
Turned out great, cool old ride.
Hello my friend. LMC truck will help you get anything you need for this all original equipment I guess you know this already nice truck❤ keep putting them out my friend I'll keep watching
Now take her on a quick road trip! Love the videos! Keep it up!
Great vid and truck and nice pumps, thanks for sharing 👍💨💨
i feel you with the cost of hoses nowadays, same with the rubber seals for doors, windows, trunk ect. i was gonna get new ones to my 1958 opel olympia but that shit was like 300$ just for the rubber seal for the doors. thats half of what i paid for the car lol
U got a nice little truck now I had a 1980 in the late 90s 4 on the floor it was a good track
4800 that a great price I wish a was closer
It's a manual clutch. Crawl underneath and adjust the linkage rod and it would have probably worked good enough to get him home. Maybe he should have left the old fuel pump that was working on it and spent the money on a service manual for the truck.
I'm sure I'm not the only one to start looking at flights to Tucson at the end of this video!
" I don't what you could have hit that would bend the pick up tube like that" A car dolly perhaps? Just kiddin'. It's not unusual on a 4x4, especially since this one has no bash plate under the tank. My '86 Ramcharger has a bash plate, sender still got bent. It now has EFI with an in tank pump, I reworked the Aeromotive pump assembly to be spring loaded so hopefully the pump won't get knocked off.
Good job on that truck, man
Nice pumps and also nice fallout shelter sign though)
Great video, but hold on a second...lol. I think I know what you were doing when you tested the gauges, but be careful about the terminology. The way that Mopar and most other clusters work is that the cluster is supplied with key on 12 volts, which is stepped down to about half by the IVR...Instrument Voltage Regulator. One side of each gauge not including the ammeter is supplied with IVR voltage. The other side of the temp, oil and fuel gauges is the ground side through the sending units. Each unit is a potentiometer that allows varying amounts of "ground" through, just like a fuel sending unit operates. There is NO power present at any of those sending units. You did in fact test the circuits for continuity, which is good work.
As another viewer mentioned, those ammeters are a fire hazard. Mopar foolishly routed ALL the electrical load through those undersized ammeters on all their vehicles into the 80's, so when the lights, wipers, fan motor etc are on, it goes through that ammeter. I've seen them get so hot they melted the lens and the needle fell off. As a mechanic, NEVER assume someone just didn't know what they were doing. I would go back in there and reconnect those wires pronto. There are fusible links in the harness but those are the most durable part of it unfortunately. Last thing, try to avoid saying "honestly" and "to be honest" so much because that gives people the impression you might not always BE honest. Keep up the good work.
I thought Chrysler changed the Ammeter wiring after 1973, Maybe they didn't on Trucks, They also didn't wire them that way on models with a lot of electrical accesories and ones for police use.
@@jdpinbaytown You are correct in that vehicles with high electrical loads and high capacity alternators like the Chrysler 100-amp units and the Leece-Nevilles used a shunt around the BULKHEAD connector, because that's the second most likely spot for a failure, but I have no knowledge if they bypassed the ammeter somehow. I've never seen one of those vehicles in person. I'd like to though to see what they did.
I think you are gonna have to end up putting your dad on payrole he is bringing some content and entertainment value to your channel. 😂 cheers from the Glass City
full filler hose. for my 59 rambler . it had a rubber hose to the gas tank. couldn't find a replacement.. i made one out of similar size exhaust tube. bent to fit . used a short rubber coupler. been on the car sense 1978. Suggestion for when yours starts leaking. didn't cost much at the time.
I've got a ram hood ornament if you want it. It's not perfect but better than holes in the hood
