Shooter's a dandy for sure! You've done a great job with him. A real bonus though to be able to start one and continue on with it's training like you are with him to today. Such an advantage to get to know them inside and out and develop that awesome friendship with them so they truly want to work with you.
Not always but mostly in my experience. Thinking you might need some pointers though Matt with burger grilling! Lol! Have to be able to feed yourself when no one is around! Lol!

I love that you don’t keep every horse intact. I’ve always felt that unless they are outstanding and just completely dog gentle, there is not reason for them to be a stallion.
That’s what more people need to know
YES! Imo a breeding stallion should be the epitome of his breed in all ways: conformation AND should have a show, race or using record behind him before he's allowed to go to the breeding shed.
I'd also add that he should be able to stamp his get: in other words be able to pass those qualities on. After all, a stallion is pretty useless if they don't pass those traits on. But those are the ones that make fantastic geldings!
I agree with you Crystal. I feel like if you have a stud horse and he's "good", then he will make a great gelding.
@@tracyjohnson5023 I don’t necessarily agree they need a show/performance record, but they should have proved they can perform the job they’ve been bred for.
@@crystalbrewster5265 that’s what I mean by a performance record. Used as a ranch horse, etc.
I feel like the shooter horse would be a bad ass heel horse. Not sure why I just got a heel horse vibe from him 😂 I mean I know he’s a super nice Reiner. Definitely not saying he’s not good at his job because he is.

The horses headset will be like that when you have them in a curb bit and your hands are next to your thighs. That was not a loose rein when loping. I wasn't born yesterday. Whoever broke this horse created the muscular system that allows this horse to work in this fashion.
Do you ever get worried that the breast collar discourages them from dropping their head and neck? My mare moves really low headed too and I took the breast collar off because it was really pressing into her neck and I wasn't sure if it was inhibiting her at all.

So good right?? The best way to get that top line is to buy them or breed them like that and then just do a good job training. Horse that made the biggest impact on my life was Easy Otie Whiz... won a USA Gold Medal on him!

Matt , you need to go back and watch this video and see how many times you picked up on his face, you were talking and I don't think you even realised what you were doing. I believe that is why he is so low headed.
