Ryo and Robert look even more badass as middle age men.
It's sad to me that Snk cant invest in showing some sign of aging in the chars consistently. It's only done in standalone titles like this one (though here it's only showing Ryo and Robert incoherently older just for the sake of a fun change), and titles with a specific "next gen" theme like Garou.
In Capcom's case they made Sf3 with that concept, and recently Sf5's char redesign has a bit of that (which i'm not sure that is very coherent for every one but it's interesting anyway). Also it's the first time they made some considerable moveset changes and additions to many veterans. Some good, others not as much, but it's still remarkable for me because Capcom always had a notorious conservative approach at their productions - as opposed to Snk, that are famous for changing chars and their moveset in the sequels (and we are even expecting it already).
But Capcom's work in Sf5 makes me wonder if Snk, in old school company rivalry behavior, will cross that line and also push the whole roster's age at least a little bit in Kof Xv. Oh and i Just reminded the case of the latest GGs that are also going that way. So i wonder if that, coming from another 2d peer, will be a reinforced pressure factor for Snk to take that way.
@@carlosaugusto9821 Incoherently older?, what are you talking about?, both Ryo and Robert, as well as King, Yuri, Geese, Takuma, Eiji, Kasumi and the rest of the Art of Fighting crew are canonically older, the AOF series is chronologically set more than ten years before the Fatal Fury series, that's why Geese is older in Fatal Fury than in AOF, in fact is the KOF series that really ditches all this canon in order to make Yuri more fan service material as well as to pretend that Ryo and Robert as well as Terry and Andy are facing each other at their peak.
Carlos Augusto the KOF timeline is separate from the canonical SNK timeline. That's why character don't age in most KOF games, because it doesn't really matter.
But in AOF, FF and etc it's a totally different story.

I know everything you pointed out. I just meant Snk suddenly wanted to portray the duo in their older looks - coherently to the old timeline, but incoherently (and this is the part you misunderstood) in the context of the roster: which blends Garou timeline, Kof standard timeline (i.e with young Terry), classic AOF time, classic FF timeline, etc... I was just playing around with the timeline mess and the randomness of the decision to use the appearance canon to a particular timeline.
Robert is on crack in this game, his stance is very unique in this one. He's like guile rugal and Kim with his kicks

I don't get why mexicans love KOF. It's no Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat but hey, it's a great series. :)
Neo-Geo machines were cheaper to maintain and upgrade than most other arcade machines. Plus it was easier to pirate SNK games. Plus with KOF particularly, a lot of people felt like they were getting more play for their money by fighting with three characters at a time instead of just one.
Plus the gameplay is quicker and more energetic than most other fighters outside of anime fighters.
@@ShadowBlade79 I thought the gameplay of KOF and Street Fighter are very similar so I don't see why most mexicans are into KOF than SF.
@@kenterminateddq5311 Similar, yes, but there are noticeable differences. Like I mentioned before, a standard KOF match is 3v3 as opposed to SF's 1v1. People liked the idea that you got to use 3 characters on one token instead of just one.....made them feel like they were getting more for their money. There's also always been a larger selection of characters to play, so games never really got that boring that quickly. Combine that with how quick the matches play, especially from '96 on when evasive rolling was introduced, as well as how much easier it was for them to get access to an SNK machine versus other arcade games out there, and you start to see the increased appeal.

You're getting it confused (I'm guessing semantics). Art of Fighting and the Fatal Fury series are indeed of the same timeline. As-is, AoF takes place in the 60s and early 70s, while years down the line Fatal Fury starts off in 91 (same year game was first released).
Final (secret) boss of AoF 2 was Geese when he was a (very corrupt) police commissioner of South Town. Ryo slapped him around good and caused Geese to run off to train himself harder. Funny he didn't get revenge, but years passed on, Geese's grip of South Town got stronger, a certain Jeff Bogard stepped in to halt Geese's crime ring...got curbstomped to death in the process (and rest was the Hungry Wolf history).
Whenever Ryo appeared in later Fatal Fury games, he at first started off as a guest, but THEN future showings of him he's aged up a lot, taking on the mantra Mr. Karate (II) in the process, and is (one time) a boss character due to his power.
That said (and all that talking), both games are still their own series, but SHARE a single timeline.

If KOF 15 have a Sub-Boss Team like '96's Geese, Krauser, & Big, their names are called "Legacy Team", & it's Members are Adelheid Bernstein, Rock Howard, & Mr. Karate II(Ryo).

I think Hokutomaru would be a better fit rather than Mr. Karate II if it should be called "Legacy Team", cause it might be too difficult for them to put both Mr. Karate and Ryo together in KOF game and create a story for this team because they have to, just like in KOF 97 they created a story for the Special Team(Yamazaki, Billy Kane and Blue Mary) to fit in for the game

kinda hate that they've shortend the specials since k.o.f 2003. makes it so streetfighter instead of it's own. average of 15 hits while earlier it was like 28 hits on a average.

A impressão que tenho é que esse Ryo e Robert vieram de um mundo alternativo onde não teve o KOF 96 nem AOF 3, foram uma evolução diferente do 95 e AOF 2, tanto que se repararem bem, essa voz do Robert parece ser a do 95 (a partir do 96 mudou) estão muito badass aí.

I think he first apeared as Mr karate 2 in fatal fury wild ambition but there's another game that also has Ryo as Mr karate 2. Can't remamber the game's name.

É que na história desse jogo se passa em um pouco mais no futuro, onde Ryo herda o título de mr. Karatê do Takuma... O visual do Robert até parece estranho, mas é que na verdade eles estão mais velhos....

@@eliasnicolasmiranda4940 I agree. The 360 version is my least favorite. The 3d backgrounds are fine but, my issue is that it is missing my favorite stages. The sprites are also colored in too much.
