Unfortunately, Norway doesn't have the death penalty anymore, so the prison have to go by their own regulations on how to treat their inmates. Solitary confinement is not legal in Norway for more than a short period of time unless the police get a new court order. When the normal court case is over there's usually no reason for solitary confinement unless it's a very special case, as it is with him. He does however have a good case against the prison, because they have never had an inmate like that before... Inmates like him were shot in the past and not incarcerated...
Is stupid prison system. Anyone who is not will to work and make a living. He could just make a crime in Norway. They will reward him with shelter and shelter and feed him for certain time and get out. Idiom law makers.
You make it sound like a weird thing to complain about living in isolation for year after year. At this point, he's been in isolation for more than a decade. Complaining about that is NOT the same thing as complaining about the coffee. If you end up in prison, and they decide to keep you in isolation for more than a decade, you probably have a very good reason to find yourself a good lawyer.
@@christopher399 He killed 77 innocent people and, being prisoned in Norway/Scandinavia, I know he is treated well. There are countries were you're not treated that well with such a crime-record. And the reason he is kept in isolation is because of the risk of spreading his radical ideas to other prisoners. After ten years he recently was legally allowed to ask for parole. During the handling of his case in court he made the Hitler-salute. I think he doesn't deserve any perspective for parole.
@@railwayfan1988 Trust me, not every prison in Scandinavia is what you think it is. I can't speak for Denmark and Sweden, as I haven't looked much at the prisons there. However, in Norway... Not every prison is Halden. That's the one you'll get when you google prisons in Norway, and there is a reason for that. For example, the other day, I looked into a prison in Norway where the conditions were so bad that the staff were complaining. Prisoners were almost never allowed outside their cells because of a lack of space, and they had this small area outside with cages that they were allowed to stand inside for an hour every day. Of course, they are almost never used, because it's so depressing that they prefer just staying in their cell. There was another orison. I don't remember the name of this one, but the inmate in question was struggling with severe mental health issues, and instead of providing him with help, they locked him up in solitary confinement and just kept him there. Admittedly, this last one was at least a decade ago, so the prison may have been shut down, or the routines may have changed. (Also, no, the cell they kept him in was NOT like the ones in Halden. Nor was the one in the other prison, which is still operating today. The cells looked better than American ones, yes, but that's more because the walls weren't grey and they used a proper desk and a proper bed. That's not saying much.) I'm not complaining about the prison system in Norway. It's absolutely fantastic. We have the best results in the entire world for a reason. However, foreigners see photos of Halden, and think that's every prison here. No, it isn't... That's just the most fancy one. There is literally a prison here, operating as I'm writing this, that have so little space that they can't let prisoners out of their cells. There is another prison where they cramped numerous prisoners into small cells. Although we have Halden prison, we also have prisons that are... Less admirable. Yet, what they all have in common is the focus on rehabilitation and how the staff will treat prisoners like human beings. But they're not all living in fancy conditions. He's in isolation because everyone in Norway that are around 25 years old and up, hates him. People want him dead. A mishap happened, and a prisoner managed to get outside of cell door and told him he would've been dead if the door hadn't been locked. There was also a prisoner who volunteered to help provide an inmate in need of a friend, with someone to talk to and play games with. He then learned the guy was Breivik. After the meeting, people in the prison where trying to find out who had agreed to see him. It's very unlikely they wanted to find said person to ask how Breivik is in person. Anyway, even though it's understandable why he's in isolation (for his own safety), it doesn't mean that's what we want for our prisons. And no, giving the Nazi salute shouldn't remove all possibilities for parole. You have misunderstood the purpose of rehabilitation. If he was already on the right path, there would be no need for rehabilitation. Killers, rapists, child molesters, drug dealers, robbers... These are all people who are doing things they shouldn't, and that's EXACTLY why they need rehabilitation. A Nazi and a mass murderer is a great example of someone who needs to be rehabilitated.
Food is your survival that’s life and death so pretty much is justified that’s ridiculous it’s like they just try to get people motivated to commit mass murder don’t publicize his complaints or don’t have him complain that simple
Well prison is not meant to be nice, and few mass murderers enjoy the level of comfort and privileges this man enjoys in Norway. Fancy doing 21 years for 77 counts of murder on Texas death row, China or Thailand?. No case at all, just playing hard done by now.
In norway 21 years is just a number... after 21 years they will decide on keeping him inprisoned for longer if he is still a threat (wich he will be), so he will most likely die in prison. In Norway you cant get 500 years in prison like you can in fantasyAmerica
@@Chad_Thundercock_III well, it wont be another 21, and then another 21. Just prolonged imprisonment. Probably forever. As long as he is a threat. Same thing can happen to people given 9 years for rape or assault or something. But they will have to be given the years of imprisonment and added custody, for safety reasons.

Authorities were unable to avoid this shooting and another recent attack, why there are not prosecuted too ?
Why not give the man a tank as well.. Norwegian prison system is joke
Is stupid prison system. Anyone who is not will to work and make a living. He could just make a crime in Norway. They will reward him with shelter and shelter and feed him for certain time and get out. Idiom law makers.
21 years in jail for killing 77 humans lives! Why, are those innocents people he killed are animals? ,
He got 3weeks sentence for one person. Ah!
1:55 what a stupid thing to say... This is why intelligent people dislike democracy.
Did they catch her in the walk of shame & pull her in for an interview? 😂
What's the next thing he is gonna complain about? Tea or coffee isn't delicious enough?
EDIT: 3:20 I subscribed too quickly! :)
That's not saying much.)
I'm not complaining about the prison system in Norway.
Might as well give him death penalty if you’re gonna torture him because just inspires more people who hate to see and hear him treated unfairly
Food is your survival that’s life and death so pretty much is justified that’s ridiculous it’s like they just try to get people motivated to commit mass murder don’t publicize his complaints or don’t have him complain that simple
Of course he is mistreated.Everbody hates him!

21 years? can someone explain?
Everyone should look into why he committed this horrific event.
@David C. Why don't you answer the question if you are so smart?
deserve 77 x 21 years in jail, so bring him back in every time he's about to get out XD It should be fun
Jim Daniel's getting darker and prouder.
I hope he gets out cuz if he does, he will be killed
Well prison is not meant to be nice, and few mass murderers enjoy the level of comfort and privileges this man enjoys in Norway.
Fancy doing 21 years for 77 counts of murder on Texas death row, China or Thailand?. No case at all, just playing hard done by now.
University studies...seriously. 21 years. Cant believe it
In norway 21 years is just a number... after 21 years they will decide on keeping him inprisoned for longer if he is still a threat (wich he will be), so he will most likely die in prison. In Norway you cant get 500 years in prison like you can in fantasyAmerica
@@KapteinRub hahaha true. Fantasy america
When the 21 years have gone by, and he still is a threat to society the will put on another 21 years, and the process will continue
@@KapteinRub as u may see im from norway too

Q) How should prisons treat vicious cowardly terrorists ?
A) Prisons have no right to answer that question !!! Only torture chambers and finally the gallows have that right for sure.

The movie "22 July" just last night from NETFLIX mentioned that his sentence was lifetime solitary confinement...maybe he has appealed since then.

how on earth would it be a good idea to send a maniac like him back into society after he still does the nazi salute?? ELECTRIC CHAIRRR
killing someone for a salute that you don't like seems pretty facist don't u think?
@@all4dalulz lol oh my god how shallow could you be? I wouldn't justify killing him if the only thing he would've done was to make a stupid salute. but that's not the main reason he's there, the main reason is that he murdered 70 innocent people in cold blood and still shows no signs of either remorse or changing his personal "philosophy". therefore I sentence him to the chair, but make it electric

And not be able to get such serious information right. You can not be taken seriously as a news channel
Anne Gro Brevik mmm
ummm wut? 21 year sentence?
after 21 years there would be another court case justifying if he is fit to be freed or if he is still a danger to the society. If they find him dangerous, they can sentence him for another 21 years.
he's only getting more dangerous probably -this guy is coldblooded killer
in that case he will receive another sentence for another 21 years
