    I train my son almost every day and how to defend themselves and he is been in school for less than a year now and it's already been getting picked on because he is a polite kid and has manners. Long story short, The bully's pulled he spilled his milk on him today and my son told him he needs to grow up. So the bully got mad and hit my son in the stomach so my son had enough and gave him 2 left jabs and finished him with a right crossover straight to the teeth........my son is now eating an ice cream cone and hasn't been picked on ever since.

    Nice tutorial. That long upper-cut is something I learned in Kyokushin back in the early 1990's. It also works great to reach the solar plexus by slipping underneath someone's guard.

    Hajime no Ippo has lead me to believe that that is not indeed the Gazelle Punch.

    • @MKG176
      @MKG176 8 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      It is, Ippo just ends it in an uppercut to the body instead of the hook.

      hahahaahaha the other guy bends it self ( getting his head close the floor ) hahahahaah it looks amazing in the anime but try to do it like that and see how stupid you would look like:P xD xD xD

    • @MKG176
      @MKG176 8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Francisco Tamashiro ? Watch a Floyd Patterson fight. He does the move repeatedly. He often ends it in a left hook instead of an uppercut though. Ippo was taught the body attack version to take advantage of his natural ability to get low because of his size.

    After i heard someone mention in your live stream the gazelle punch yesterday i decided to start working on it. Out of all the youtube boxing trainers you are definitely in the top 5 on my list bro. Ive taken the switch hook, bolo punch, and the scotty punch to work on as well as the gazelle punch and the footwork videos you have put up have really helped as well. Shane dont let anybody bring you down you the man remember that

    I'm learning a lot from your channel. I'm preparing to purchase my 16 oz gloves, boxing shoes and 180" wraps. I've been using running sneakers, mma style gloves and 108"wraps over taped wrists and knuckles. what I'm doing now sucks and i know is incorrect. I've only been hitting a heavy bag for two weeks now. this is all the boxing experience i have. I'm following your videos and focusing on form. i do hit hard and correctly but my foot work needs work and so does my punching combinations. i'm sloppy right now as i expect i should be. i'm working on slipping punches now with faints and during my punches. thanks for the great videos!

    Synopsis: The punches you learn from the video are:
    1. The Slip Jab
    2. The "Scotty Boom" Punch? (a sort of rear-hand jab). Not powerful but a deceptive punch. Manny Pacquiao utilizes this.
    3. The Gazelle Punch (weaving loaded left hook). Joe Frazier's most famous punch, and the punch that dropped Ali.
    4. Long Uppercut - instead of your elbow being 90 degrees, it will be at an obtuse angle, giving you more range and a different angle of attack.

      Move out of their line ( if they use lots of straigt attacks ) via sidestepping and slipping(while keeping a good defense), constantly moving in and away from their powerhand. and punch Nr.3 is actually excellent for exactly that kind of opponent.

    I agree with the long uppercut, I like to use a lead long uppercut while cutting an angle (as the opponent steps in) it pops the opponents chin up so I follow up with a hard right cross.

  • @silvastone1691
    @silvastone1691 10 ปีที่แล้ว +83

    That long Uppercut you did I refer to it as "The Smash" or "Smash Uppercut" because of one of my all time favorite anime, the "Gazelle Punch" was in there to but didn't have the roll and hook combination. All you needed to do was Demonstrated the "Dempsey Roll" and it would've been the perfect indirect homage to that particular anime, 10 points to anyone that knows what anime I'm referring to :)

    With the leaping hock I always teach a little upper cut as you twist your right arm forward to load the hook, it can get an opponent to lean out, and square up.

  • @TheAlmonteFilms
    @TheAlmonteFilms 10 ปีที่แล้ว +57

    I catch people with that long uppercut with full extension everytime. Especially works great to keep feinting right hand so when you feint that overhand, use that torque to shoot that uppercut when they try to slip or duck.

    • @CYBOPOD88
      @CYBOPOD88 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      TheAlmonteFilms Did you see Holyfield catch Douglas with a counter right hand after Douglas missed with that long uppercut. It was a thing of beauty. Watch it when you can. Actually watching videos of the great will teach you a lot too. These are good for pointers etc.

      Jeff Gibson swing any arm while at the same time spinning your entire body just like when we were kids. There's really no wrong way to do - doesn't even need to land - for me it's like an intimidation method.

    I've been boxing for over 30 years and I like your tips. I always fight opposite stance regardless their stance but I'm a southpaw. I never throw any punch fully extended ever , it invites a slip and all my punches are either a downward twist or I start in a vertical motion and either twist it straight or throw a uppercut or vertical jab . I also never throw punches standing square to my opponent, I always try to get a slight T position any way I can. I like your tips though

    A tip to the coach: when you jab you keep the the right hand high which is good. You keep it high to the ear , now that is odd, especially when you are bagging for an uppercut. Keep your palm to the corner of your smile and you'll block most counters. Keep it on the ear and you'll block them all with the face.

    Your Hook at 2:56 & 2:59 is short and quicker than any of your other punches (also explosive and doesn't telegraph your punch, compared to all your other punches where you do a movement before striking, such as stepping or twisting hips/torso). You should use this hook more often in your fights if you don't already. Could always use it to knock the opponents guard out of the way and follow with cross (legal in some martial arts, not sure about boxing) or back fist with same striking arm (less effective).
    Your variation hook at 3:12 is telegraphed because you extend the arm too much.

    The long uppercut is indeed a bit unorthodox and more difficult to pull off, but it's good punch. Prince Naseem would hop in with it so at to step to the outside of his opponent and get a dominant angle then follow with a cross since the opponents head is lifted up, you weight on your front leg already and you have a nice angle on your opponent. Conor McGregor also does it very well.

    to be fair the gazelle punch you're performing isn't wrong but at the same time you was to come up in a slight angle with you're elbow pointed down not so much aiming at the temple but more so at the chin just so it deceive your opponent into believing the hook it coming higher then what it is
