This is a great resource. A lot of these things (1g rx with esc), geared motors, and full systems were very difficult to source a few years ago when I was last active. $7 standalone actuator? Wow. Not sure if this is still the case but if/when I order if I like them I will stock up because the good stuff always disappears.

So back in early actuator days it was mentioned you could use small sections of rubber band for your hinges and the flight surfaces would self center without needing an airstream. The trick is to balance the size of the rubber band hinges so they don't over power the actuators and reduce your control inputs.
The Hurd's micro RC systems, on their DWE Super Skeeter had their actuators mounted close to the wing with CF pushrods connecting the rudder and elevator. They used an interesting centering function of the two actuators with their magnets at 90 degrees to each other which self centered the actuators without needing any external forces centering. The controls are completely proportional and have plenty of strength to move control surfaces that aren't too large. We're talking about 30 gram sized models at the heaviest.

Very Interesting ... and the price is right! I have a ton of questions about the size and weight of the a/c this gear will support, but I will wait to see what you build and fly with this stuff.

I just built their mig-15 looking forward to building the A4 skyhawk. I’ve spent a bit of money with them and have not been disappointed at all.

Dunno . . . I am on travel now. I do know their receivers bind successfully with Spektrum DX6 transmitters.

Cool. I want one or three or four, but I definitely have to have a transparent transmitter.

Tim, I am hoping that this gear will power Guillows 300 series aircrafts. I received a Guillows Cessna 170 for Christmas and I hope this gear will work in an rc conversion of it, if I can keep the weight at 2-3 oz. I saw your Aeronca/Cessna rc conversions and I hope this gear will work in the Cessna as well. I would like to hear your opinion on this before I invest any time and money on this conversion. I like your build videos, thanks.

The actuators need a super light control surface to work properly I think. Oddly enough the Guillow planes might be too heavy/fast for these actuators to function. I’m still thinking this over.

There are receivers and servos in the less than 3 gram category. About a gram for the .rx and servos under 2 grams, that would be perfect for a Guillow's 300 series.
But, unless you really pare down the weight of the heavy balsa the Guillow's kits normally come with, they will be flying at air-speeds that will probably be too much for an actuator to work effectively against.
I have a scratch built, 47 gram, 20" wingspan, pusher biplane that uses Flash Hobbies' 2502 2.1 gram servos, the rudder is full flying and pull-pull, they seem more than adequate for that rudder. I wouldn't trust an R/C electromagnetic actuator to control this much control surface. The size of model this system was designed for is close to Dancing Wings Hobby's Ice Cream E23
