It seems that way John, I have just bought a class 08 shunter rom Bachmann and actually cannot get the body off, I'll try again now having seen your video. I do know though that Bachmann are pulling ahead with the new designs such as coaches with DCC and lighting pre-fitted but at a premium price.

Bachmann probably do smaller ones - but it could cost more! The Hornby chips are now into fourth generation and the basic (cheapest) one fits. We intend to look at reading CVs and reprogramming later to see if there are any issues.
Hello John, Another cracking video, there doesn't seem to be as much space in the Bachmann compared to the Hornby 08, have you plans for a part 3 showing where the decoder was fitted? Michael
***** Ooops - I'll have to go back and show it. I must have been distracted from decoder fitting to some other task. I seem to remember needing to it the smaller version and twist all the wires up really tightly. Prompt me in about a month cos I'm up to my neck marking and prep. John

This was a while ago now. Always a bit of a challenge. Still hard to locate pin 1 on most sockets.
They are good at that Bachmann, I have bought decoders that they advise I then find its near impossible to fit them in the space
Not good business practice. Complete contrast to the class 46. The small one caused all the trouble.
