@@donkeysaurusrex7881 .. Quite understandable, because Greenland is a Bernie Sanders role model, with all 31 seats in the Greenlandic Parliament is either from parties to the left of the views of Bernie Sanders or would agree with him, and 60% of the cost of the Greenlandic economy, including their highly expensive infrastructure, free health care, free day care, paid sick leave, 52 weeks of fully paid parental leave, free University college and the right to live and work anywhere in the EU is a subsidy by the Danish Government, with no strings attached, so free money for nothing.
obviously the Trump MAGA's would have to agree to top this by using your taxpayer $$ on subsidizing a Socialist utopia in Greenland, that then would become a role model for much of the USA. But I wonder how Trump is going to defend that proposal without the MAGA movement imploding on itself?

The Inuit's came after the Vikings and not before. The humans who may have lived in Greenland in ancient times before the Vikings, were long gone by the time the Vikings arrived, and when the Vikings left the Inuit's took over, until the Danes later returned to rule.
So it's all very complicated, much like with Israel and the Palestinians, though in this case it has all been settled very peacefully ages ago, and Trump is not going to be able to change this by steering up a conflict that do not exist.

If I go by the rule that any new state must exceed the current least populous state, then you end up with 9 potential states (I assume that Prince Edward Island would need to merge with one of the other Atlantic Provinces). They don't want the USA to have it because Denmark already collects a lot of USA money through Greenland. This is because Greenland is less than 20% food sufficient. Because Denmark controls it, they purchase most of their food and goods from Denmark instead of the USA where costs are less (and the USA is closer too). The USA bases rent the land, and buy goods and services from Greenland companies and hires hundreds of Greenland civilians as contractor employees. A lot of this money then ends up going to Denmark to purchase food, goods, and services.

Greenland should setup a sovereign wealth fund, much like the Alaska Permanent Fund. Which would collect a royalty from natural resource development that goes into a fund. The dividends from that fund pay for infrastructure and cash payments to residents.
