Not exactly nice weather over here, yesterday, to have an outing, but thanks to your video, l still can enjoy one. And this time it's part of your home town Philadelphia you were visiting.
Interesting about that still existing hardware store and having a look inside. Indeed, rather special that it exists for so long already. Hopefully it still will, when you would return in a few years time.
All and all a charming neighbourhood worth exploring. And the autumn colours add just that bit of extra.
Thank you for taking us along, Terri Jo and your brother Mike! 💙👍

Happy Tuesday Carina, I hope you’re having a good week. The Autumn colors are always a special treat this time of the year. And yes, the hardware store’s been open for over a century! If only the walls could talk! Thanks so much for stopping by, I always enjoy reading your comments! 🍁

Kilian's was our go to hardware store for decades when we lived in Lafayette Hill and my grandmother lived in Mt Airy.

I was in criminal court in City Hall ahead of thirty years ago talking about Chestnut Hill neighborhood of Northwest Philadelphia. The Italian Caucasian gentleman Judge said that I could only discuss current matters and not something back in the day. Why of forty years before that court, I attended lower elementary school there when it was predominantly Caucasian Anglo - American. Half of the parents then could afford to send their children to private schools. But the other half could not. Because there was not enough students to fill the classrooms, the principal then said that she could pull from other neighborhoods. She said that about special transfer every day to teachers, parents, and students. Then she added that her face was just as white as theirs. She told me that she had learned how to be nasty nice. She would always smile... and then frown. She pulled from Caucasian Anglo - American Upper Mount Airy where parents' income was slightly less than those parents who sent thei children to their neighborhood in Chestnut Hill. Then she pulled from Lower Mount Airy predominantly Caucasian neighborhood where some NEGROES such as I stayed. Finally, she pulled from Caucasian Wayne Junction neighborhood with parents' incomes much lower than Chestnut Hill parents' incomes. Down memory lane...😮😮😮
