  • To train the muscles of your hand and fingers is very important to understand how they work and to get a lot of control over them and the keys. In this video I show you how to practice the Cortot Exercise No.1
    On this channel I am going to share my experience and thoughts about fingerings, interpretation, fingertechniques and playing piano in generel. If you have any questions or ideas please leave it in the comments!

    Great exercise! I will follow that routine. Just don't overdo it - otherwise the fingers might get six-packs.

    My daughter has been learning piano for 8 years now, and is heading into a high school for performing arts taking up piano performance. Thanks so much for these videos and shorts. She finds them extremely helpful.

    I have Cortot's book "Rational principles of piano technique". The exercise Annique shows is just the first one, there are two pages of them in all. It takes 5 or 10 minutes to do them all, but they're very good for keeping your hand supple and avoiding tendonitis - my teacher recommended them and my hand surgeon approved. In case you didn't guess, it's a good idea not to need a hand surgeon in your life - I never thought I would, but bashing a computer keyboard all day for years can mess up your hands without you noticing. It's worth spending money on an ergonomic keyboard (mine splits to allow the hands to separate) and a vertical mouse or trackball before it's too late.

      Quick tip.
      Close your eye's,,,know the darkness,, flow through your scales blindfolded do this for 3 month's,,it is a natural process how a wondering mind creates a wondering hand that creates wondering fingers,, the brain tricks the sight, the sight tricks the hands the hands trick the fingers you end up with a wondering lefty,,control this drastic horrendous habit by playing slow, softly building on week by week,, the average about 3 to 9months training is needed,,,you may ask wwhy blindfolded,,,just imagine you have intense sight impairment or have just become partially blind or blind how would you learn to become a pianist,,,i bet they don't teach this, at classical school,,,trust assured youl be amazed on how fantastically calm and composed you're going to become,, your hands will be controlled by your brain not what you see but what you feel,,, you'll become lightning fast,,, trust assured.
      Good luck god bless happy practicing.

    Taubman is useful but seems to neglect finger development. It is important to develop the rapid activation and release of the fingers as they rest on the keys

    Is there a story behind the association between that chord and Chopin?

    • @SputnikExperiment
      @SputnikExperiment 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes, Chopin sketched out a method for beginners where he recommends this position for finger exercises as it is physiologically closest to how your hand is when it is relaxed away from the piano. For example, hanging by your sides. He then proceed to say that B/Dd/F# major are the easiest scales to execute for exactly the same reason. C major being the hardest especially when you have long fingers [And I second that from experience].
      ... there's a book I used to have: Chopin, pianist and teacher as seen by his students. It had an dark orange cover if that helps.

    You dont need classical training to become a classical pianist,,just simply the initiative to understand a professional classical pianist when good advice is given,,,I've spent thousands listening to absolute crack pot's and some have enter on here nonsensical comment,,i guess they should go back and retrain.
