NASCAR measures track distance from a point 15-feet in from the outside wall. When you apply that definition, one quarter-mile certainly does not measure the same everywhere, nor does it accurately describe tracks listed as a quarter-mile. It should, of course. Average speed would serve as the most accurate metric to determine track size. My one visit to Riverhead, decades ago left me with the impression that it measures less than a quarter-mile, especially relative to local tracks, e.g. Star & Monadnock. I do recall, however, that the modified times ran low-to-mid eleven second laps and literally blurred past. Seekonk Speedway provides great racing, yet no one should believe the announcer when he welcomes you to the "the one-third mile." Any newspaper that published a story with that would retract it the next day. Everyone referred to it as a quarter-mile in my youth. Its website states that you travel 1,320 feet around the inside line and 1/3 mile along the outer rim. I would love to test that. I believe that you may have walked a third of a mile when you walk around the top of the grandstands. Similarly, announcers and fans alike referred to LEE USA Speedway as a one-third mile in the late '80's. Today, you hear it marketed as a three-eighths. Monadnock ranks as my favorite modified track, without question. Two distinctively different but highly banked corners provide for modifieds to pass on both the inside or outside. I love Seekonk, too! Star Speedway provides great racing. The facilities require an overhaul. I'd love to get to Riverhead again someday. I may have a job in Stamford, CT after Corona, so I could order a seat on the backstretch next year! Does the Indian still stand out front of Riverhead? I recall the thunder of the modifieds during practice while standing outside the Dunkin' Donuts.

Still my favorite class of racing! The bullrings are where we raced back in the days of old coupes, Pintos and Veg as.
Thanks for posting this race. Myself and thousands of fans miss racing and hope that 2021 is a great racing year.
Thanks, missed the NBCSN broadcast...
Ok thanks for being there for me a few days ago and I didn’t know what to do with it but it wasn’t too bad I was just trying to get it done lol
Always good to see great modified racing
Great video wish we got to watch it live.
12.8"s and he called it the fastest 1/4 mile on the east coast. we're running in the 11.2"s at Riverhead
