I used to be left handed writing, but I got tired of smudging and instead of tilting my paper like you said, I learned to write right handed. I don't regret it, but it was a big learning curve.

When i was a kiddo no one taught me how to grab a pencil, my instincts told me that the dynamic tripod was the most comfy, and thank god i learned that grip cause ive learned cursive recently and i didnt have much problem

The great benefit of the lateral tripod and tetrapod, for drawing at least, is the far greater ease with which straight lines can be drawn. Normally, the movement of the wrist causes lines to curve

In an earlier video you mentioned not liking Spencerian could you elaborate in a video. And thanks for this series I’m going to enjoy it.

I see a lot more people from Asian cultures, I must mention Chinese, probably in particular, who use the lateral quadrupod. They probably learn to use this method, due to their having to pen a lot more straight lines for their Chinese characters. This is my presumption.

It's a holdover from chinese traditional calligraphy classes - to give more control of a foot-long brush that's dripping with ink, so we can better replicate the ticks and flourishes of the old masters.
Fast-forward several thousand years to the invention of ball-point pens, and noone wants to deal with the crap from speaking up "against" those old masters, so we're all stuck with hands cramping around pens, until we're old enough to be allowed online and stumble across videos about how to hold pens. Unless your family is rich enough to send you to western calligraphy classes.

i am naturally using lateral quadrupod. I have the same ROM on it as on a dynamic tripod.
but my lateral quadrupod has the thumb going beneath the middle finger :D Thumb above is weird 06:00.
people tried to teach me the dynamic tripod, and I can somewhat produce decent results with it, but I am too slow with it. I assume it's possible to retrain yourself if you devote enough time, but why do it when the quadrupod does it's job :D
School did teach the dynamic tripod, but kids are holding pencils long before school. At least I used to draw a lot and to write before I got in school.

What do you call the tool you used to draw the lines in the other cj round hand video

      Paperman
Dip pen? Nibs and nib holder?
A fountain pen is similar but holds an internal supply of ink that continuously fills the nib.

If you mean the green thing, it's called a lettering guide (or sometimes a liner). I don't think they make that brand/model anymore. There is a clear one available known as the "Ames Lettering Guide".

I have a permanent callous on my ring finger and have had since I was at least eight. And yet I have good hand writing, go figure.

Why i choose the lateral quadrupod? Because im built different my man. Im just kidding, in all seriousness tho the reason i write like that is because no one really taught me how to hold a pen. Teachers and my parents would just told me to write this and that and gave me examples but not enough for me to learn.
