Viper, that last deer you lured around 5:40, is there a trick you used to get it to come in from the edge of the map? The deer ran towards your scout instead of away from it
No, that's random. He often is quite upset with deer spawning on the edge ;)
I guessed that because of where he moved his scout to, he figured if he places it at a certain angle or distance it causes different behaviour or something. I would have expected him to move the scout right up to the deer. You're probably right that it's random, because that's what would make sense, but was hoping that he figured out some trick. He's not the only one to get annoyed by deer luring :)

gate sq pen trebs palisade if desperate as siege cant re garrison. at least rams can be garrisoned for ms. onager have civ bonuses. treb have pack time and extreme range, most immobile. gate pen 4x. if u sq formation ur trebs its ez quickwall

Why is black forest always explored?
Tradition of how it was typically played because it's the hardest map to scout. Finding the choke points early is too big of an advantage that it would be too random. There are relics and resources hidden inside trees sometimes so you would never know to chop there.

They're seriously dumb. If anything, they should be a unique unit made at the castle. Being able to spam them from stables is so stupidly OP. The devs nakedly gave a new civ 2 unique units.

Once every few months Viper puts out a LongBow video. They are by far my favorite because he's so legit rape with the LB's. I wanna see him use them in major matches vs hera etc also.
Archers need to be massed, otherwise they are not effective. Longbows need castles to be produced, in tournaments there is generally open maps and closed maps.
For open maps feudal age is important and you can't produce longbows obviously and when you hit castle still there is a long way to go for massing them you can 4 range spam +1 range crossbows easily and if you have archers just making them xbow really good thing.
For closed maps if it's a long series sometimes Britons gets picked but in bo5 generally there is better civs. Portuguese, Turks, Bohemians, Bengalis etc. However recently i think it was warlords tournament viper and Jordan played a very long game with Britons vs Bengalis you can watch it.

@@MegaFabulous one of the main issue with longbows in closed maps is the same with any UU
you need castles for trebs. and brits can't go for bombard cannons so it's extra needed to have those available
and even later, you'll still have massed crossbows while building the trebs so teching into arbs just makes sense. and if you already have the arbs you dont want to use extra resources to get elite longbows
it's one of those things thats one or the other, and arbs is just an easier/smoother thing to do
Hard to do that in 1v1, but you might see them in team game tournaments.
