    So a couple of things:
    1. The wheels and center cap issues, that stems from proper maintenance (or lack thereof) and people simply not washing & protecting their wheels properly. My wheels are from 2016 and no issues at all. Not ceramic coated yet but they're sprayed with P&S Bead Maker every time I wash.
    2. A true car guy is someone who simply is passionate about cars. Regardless of what they have in terms of engines and transmissions. Its everywhere where you see guys whos identity is constructed on them driving stick and bashing automatics left and right.
I can drive stick too, but its not a personality trait like some people.
My bimer has the same ZF8 Speed and its super quick and I wouldn't change it.

      1. Some people are lazy or just don’t care about their cars. This also could have come from a coastal town in Florida.

I also can’t figure out their entertainment system not being more Android or Apple friendly. I just paid $100 for a map update and once I installed it, it was like, “Gee, I should just stick to Waze on my Android phone and forget this limp navigation system.” I look forward to your blogs the same way I did for a new Motor Trend, Road & Track or Car & Driver magazine when I was a teenager - 50 years ago! I have been driving stick all my life. First car in 2000 was a 1990 Taurus SHO, then a 1999 E36 5-speed I bought in 2004, 2002 E46 5-Speed I bought in 2017, 2000 E39 Wagon I bought in 2018 (auto but had my E46 concurrently), and now I have a 2018 F30 330i w/ZF I bought in 2021. I honestly never thought the day would come where I wouldn't see myself driving a stick. But, I bought my wife a 2017 X3 sDrive28i last year and after experiencing that ZF 8-speed, I was changed. The ZF in my 330 is tuned much better than our X3 and holy cow does it shift fast. Manual mode on these things work great too. And the upside, my wife can now drive my car 👍 So, let's not call it a fanboy thing, more like an evolution of your driving experience. I'm not 20 anymore. And let's face it, trying to find an F30 in a manual is very difficult, and trying to find it in the trim you like is like hens teeth. My 330i has so many options, I wouldn't dare trade it for a manual transmission.

As for the guys commenting on your decision to purchase an auto over a manual, clearly these people have never had the pleasure of driving a semi in peak our traffic with a 13 or 18 speed road ranger gear box, I have and give me an auto box any day for city driving.

Very nice! I have an F30 328i (2016) and absolutely love the car. Bought it CPO in 2019 and it's just a gorgeous, fun car to drive. Lots of very nice features at a good price point.

About a year and a half ago I was in the market for a used F30 335i. I was ready to pull the trigger since I heard the car was reliable, but then my boy who also had a 2013 335i who brought it second hand paid $4k for a new ECU after jumping his battery which fried the old ECU. Also he had to replace bunch of gaskets, oil leak issues, and the car randomly goes into limp mode. Been a BMW guy, but I need a reliable no nonsense car so I got a brand new loaded Civic. Even though I’m not a BMW owner, I still watch your videos. I hope to be in the market for a G20 M340i once I pay off the Honda. Hopefully by that time you’ll have one too so I can use you for help :)

No you’re not. I’ve had f30 loaners from bmw and I can’t stand the non the slide out cup holders. The slide outs make the cabin looks so much nicer, especially when their stowed away.

I drive a manual f30 and the cup holders are stupid. I can’t shift into 3rd and 5th without smacking my knuckles against the cup. E90 drivers cup holder was awesome i miss it a lot.

I went from an 06 e90 xi to an f10 and you mentioned EVERYTHING that was disappointing about the f series. Cracked me up. It was hard to get over the loss of the best steering and feel in the e90. I still miss it. And the xi can pull through corners like nobody’s business. But when I got coilovers (and as long as you are in sport) you get a lot if the “feels” and fear of potholes back. Stock just isn’t the “Ultimate Driving Machine”. But as you build it becomes the “Ultimate Driving Machine”. Good luck with this build. You will be happy with the choice you made. I felt conflicted at first too but in the end you will love it. GET THOSE COIL-OVERS FAST. Godspeed or BC will be just fine for the price point. It will be the most satisfying upgrade you will do to get the BMW feel back. Then you can really enjoy the pull, speed, and quickness of the car without that tinge of regret.

Congrats for the buy! I think it was the natural choice to make after the E90. I would’ve searched an M Package one over interior/exterior Colors but hey, it’s a 340i so it’s letting you space for upgrades and you start with the most powerful option of engines aside the M3.

I upgraded from a 2006 325i to a 2017 320i this week. Definitely agree with the steering and sport mode comments. The updated entertainment system, cup holders, keyless entry and ease of maintenance compared to the 325i make up for it IMO.

I just went from a new 2018 M550i to a preowned 2018 340i with only 8,000 miles. While the M550i made almost 460 hp, it did have mediocre throttle response so the 340i seat of the pants acceleration feels just as fast IMO. I miss some of the luxury features of the 550i, but the 340i is just so much more enjoyable to drive fast. Great review. Thanks!

I owned an E90 myself, it was my first bmw. Nostalgia aside, once you get used to the drive, you'll love this just as much as the E90, the steering definitely felt better on the e90 though, I'm hoping to upgrade to a f chassis 340 or 440 next year, currently driving a 428 f36, the longevity and lack of power of the 4 cylinder turbo is my biggest issue. My brother has a 340i and I've driven it many times, I love it. white f30's with black accents(lip, spoiler, wheels, side skirts, etc) look absolutely amazing.

Justin, I have a 2011 sport package e90 335. Bought it new and kept in great shape. Probably the best car that I have ever owned. I just helped my son get into a 2015 N26 equipped F30.
I have driven these over the years as loaners while my car was in for service. I never realized what a nicely balanced car it is. I am not a huge fan of the steering, but I do like the idea of less drag on the engine. Eventually, I could see myself trying to find an m-sport 340 and swapping out the rims/tires for a staggered set up. Anyway, love your work on the e90, especially the m-sport steering wheel, I did that on my car as well. Looking forward to see what you do to the F30. Good luck!

I'll be watching closely at your experience with the B58 man. I had a n52 e90 and now have the n52 in my 2011 X3. A lot of your videos helped me with maintenance with that. But I'm looking at upgrading to a X3 M40i which has the B58, also the same transmission pairing I believe (ZF 8 Speed). Don't listen to the 2 people man! This is the evolution of car ownership and I think you made a fantastic decision.

Aloha, from Hawaii and always watching your video regarding E90. Used to have E90 before but now I have my M235i. The cabin filter of most new BMW cars are located under the glove box. Also I used to be a stick shift driver too but as u mentioned it was a total different experience when I purchased my M235i automatic transmission. Me personally I really enjoy the tactile feel of a manual.
I can't explain why but executing a clean heel-toe downshift, when you feel it or rather don't feel anything as you release the clutch but you hear the engine roar. That's a pure feeling of satisfaction for me, couldn't live without it.
But I wouldn't mind having a good auto trans on a second car, the F1 feel of paddles is also nice, can't deny that.

As a petrolhead, who drives a lot and I mean A LOT, I totally understand your gearbox decision and can't wait for the day to come when I can finally afford to buy myself something this new and automatic. For spirited driving on a twisty road, sure I'd take my manuals out, but for everyday driving and inching forward in traffic....
