    I purchased this FP a few weeks ago and have yet to install it. For weeks I scoured all over TH-cam for a video on the installation experience of the Dimplex XL and this is BY FAR the best video out there. Thank you for doing this! (Great production too :)

      Thank you so much for the comment! I too wondered about the installation before I purchased but because I saw limited videos on this fireplace I decided to take matters into my own hand and record my experience so that I could help else. I’m glad you you found my video helpful and thank you for subscribing.

    Thanks so much for taking the time to do this. It did look a little daunting when it arrived in the box, but the manual and this video make it so much more manageable. Cheers.

    Hey I have this exact fireplace that came with the house. The original owners had disabled the heat function like you guys on the main control board. Was it simply pulling out the jumper? I am debating opening it up and pushing the jumper back in to re-enabling it. Do you remember if it was that simple?

    • @MooreDecor
      @MooreDecor  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @ZxExN Hi, yes it was easy to disable. Ours was completely removable but if we wanted to use the heating function at a later time we could simply plug it back in.

    I agree, this video was super helpful. My only questions are: 1. Can you also see the metal strip with screws at the top if you crouch down a bit? I feel it should be covered by black. Very odd, looks unfinished. Did my contractor put the back reflective glass on wrong, too low? 2. Mine was only 50in so didn't come with a suction cup, but it did come with two flat plastic squares about an inch across with like protruding plastic zip tie like pieces on each side of them to ...what? cover the pieces that you screw in to hold the front glass in place? Wouldn't they melt?? Hope you can answer these for me, as I have to take off the glass to clean a spot I must have missed on the inside, ugh. Thank you.

    • @MooreDecor
      @MooreDecor  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Jill Preston So sorry for the late response. I’m glad you found the video helpful. To answer some of your questions no we cannot see the metal strip where the screws are when we crouch down. As for your next question I’m not sure if your contractor installed it wrong since we don’t have a picture to go by and it sounds like you got a different size which is why a suction tool did not come with yours. Not sure if one comes with different size fireplaces. As for your last question it should not melt if you’re planning not to use the heating mechanism. We disabled that feature on ours.
      I hope I was able to answer some of your questions and thanks for subscribing to my channel and commenting on my video. 😊🙏🏾

    Hi again, I am curious about something in your install video. I recently installed a 60" Ignite XL after watching your video. Your video shows installing the mirrored glass while laying flat. However, I was not able to do it that way. The 2 mounting screws on each side are behind the mirrored glass, so you would have to remove it after inserting the fireplace in the framing to be able to secure the fireplace to the frame. Just saying.

    • @garymcnally3016
      @garymcnally3016 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was thinking this while watching the video, maybe they didn't actually secure it to the build out? Mine was snug enough where I probably didn't have to, but did.

    Hello...looks GREAT!! question for you....Is the trim piece on the model you installed the standard one? Can you take it off? We are preparing to put one in a home under construction and want the minimal trim piece if any at all. I know they sell a large trim kit but that's mainly for retrofitting in a shallow wall. I want to place flush with our desired wall material......hope this makes sense...:)

    • @MooreDecor
      @MooreDecor  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you! Yes the black bracket around the fireplace is removable. So if you take it off it will look like your fireplace is built into the wall. Thanks for your comment and subscribing to my channel! 😊🙏🏾

  • @kendr3088
    @kendr3088 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great video EXCEPT for one thing! recording issues installing front glass????, why didn’t you just re-record so it would be included? Looks like mist work is done before sliding into framing, only the acrylic rocks and front glass are installed after unit is in framing. Is unit screwed into framing?

    • @MooreDecor
      @MooreDecor  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Ken Dr thanks for your inquiry. To answer your question, we didn't re-record because we completed that step fully. To capture it would cause for us to disassemble what we did. Even though it was an easy install, it was still time consuming with the screws and all.
      As for your second question, no we did not screw the fireplace unit into the frame. This is because the tolerance of space we allowed between the wall frame and the fireplace unit is soooo small, it was a very-very snug fit ("0" movement)
      I hope I answered your questions.
      Thanks for checking out the channel and for hopefully subscribing 😊

      @delegerernt the Dimplex Ignite XL comes in 50" 60" 74" and 100". As for the heat, we disabled that mechanism so I can't give you an honest review on that. But from doing a thorough research on the unit before purchasing everyone that has purchased the item gave the heat output rave reviews for its heating accuracy and range 👍.

      @Stein Ove Valderhaug I'm not sure how to answer your 1st question, but as for your 2nd question you can choose to forgo turning on the heating capabilities from the remote by simply avoiding them. However, we chose to "disable" that option inside the unit to prevent our curious 2 year old from accidentally activating it via remote or the units touchscreen.

    Where's the 6 month review?

  • @billhewitt8221

    The power cord that comes with the fireplace is only intended to test the unit after receipt. The instructions clearly say the fireplace MUST BE HARDWIRED AND SHOULD NOT BE PLUGGED INTO A WALL SOCKET. The fourth wire you said was for hard wiring (they all are) is to use it on a 240 v circuit which allows greater efficiency and also enables you to heat up to 1000 square feet. Using 110 v heats up to 500 square feet but uses more electricity per BTU generated.

      This is nonsense. It for a permanent install if 120v and where there is a receptacle. An extension cord should not ne used

    this fireplace is almost 3k, whats the difference with other lower priced like touchstone or no name brand 72inches fireplaces in amazon besides branding thanks

      @mainard dinglasan it’s realistic looking in my opinion and it’s also a personal preference. If you want to get a lower priced fireplace by all means go for it but remember you get what you pay for. Thanks for your comment!

      The frame on this model is thinner for a clean look. Not as bulky as the cheaper onces. Also the quality of the flames are more realistic. Hope this helps. i did purchase this model aswell.

      @Richard Winn can you elaborate on what you mean that you’ve done this but there is no flame? Are you saying that after putting your unit together no flames appeared?

    Hi I have this fire and one of the flames has stopped working it's only 6 weeks old I'm gutted anyone else had this happen 😢

    • @MooreDecor
      @MooreDecor  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Sam Gormley 6 weeks is too soon for the fireplace to be breaking down. Good thing is that the Dimplex company offers a 2 year factory warranty on their products.
      You should consider using that option.
