My uncle lived there for a long time until he and his wife died, I went there once as a kid, it was a neat experience, I never got a chance to see the actual town, just his property, which felt like was in the middle of nowhere since he had lots of acreage. He lived on Neversink Dr and the house sits empty now, it was built in 1775.
You drove down my my old house on Barcelow. And then by the naval ship my poppy went to. Around the big loop to the left was my grandma Alice’s house right next to the firehouse.
I grew up here moved from Middletown to port when I was in 1st grade left for Florida 7th grade I’m now a senior in high school and I kinda wanna see how the old towns doing (lived of church street front street and ball street) I wanna see if my old classmates are there and if anyone in the comments know me my names William and I was one bad ass kid

I am thinking of moving to port jervis from queens. I have a 5 year old daughter. Is this a good place to raise a kid? I’m hearing a lot about a heavy junkie population
I worked in Port jervis for 20 years.... There are a lot of great people there and the city itself seems to be going through revitalization lately many new businesses are moving in and there is a pretty new active outdoor club .... they have made a bike park , pump track and a trail system..... there is also the beautiful Delaware river and its amazing ice cream shop on its banks ....with all that said however , there is still a serious drug problem and there is really no major grocery store that seems to be able to make it here .....this might not be the popular opinion and while improvements have been happening lately ..... for me it wouldn't be enough .....if it were my 5 year old I would seriously consider the warwick / florida /chester area if I was thinking of moving to orange county with a young child the YMCA in Monroe has amazing programs for kids
@@carridesandotherrelaxingad9226 not even a grocery store? Kinda sounds like the sorry state of downtown Poughkeepsie. Most of my life we couldn’t hold down a grocery store. When they finally opened one, someone was stabbed to death in there within 6 months
@@ChesterCopperpot80 oh wow !!! I'm sadly not surprised poughkeepsie is still rough 😔 I had my phone stolen in poughkeepsie while on a job I just went 4 feet to the truck for a tool and had it out because I needed a part number ....caught it on security footage and cops said sorry nothing we can do they even knew who did it ....basically got told to mind my things ....so ....needless to say I no longer took any calls to poughkeepsie
@@user-sg4dd6si8c the location doesn’t really matter much for the long long term. My job won’t be hurt by moving there. I’ll make the same money I do in NYC. As for long term, we’re all planning on retiring far from here and my daughter is free to choose anywhere she finds opportunities, but we always plan on being within a couple hours from major cities, so we will be within reach wherever we end up, and opportunities will arise. I just need a place that is good to raise a kid thru school age
I grew up in this town. You passed the two homes that I lived in as a kid. I miss this small town terribly. Great place to grow up.
I worked at an auto parts store in town in the late 90s ....I loved it too

I stopped by there over a week ago. The people over there are pretty chill, especially at the Erie hotel.
I was born in Port Jervis. Just went back in August to visit my birth mom. Was good to be back. I didn’t want to leave. It feels like home to me.

Port Jervis is actually going through a bit of a revival or redesign .....I will try to get back out there and get more footage next time
Would have been great to see the Matamoras bridge going over the Delaware
