    FYI, Thailand's situation has gotten ALOT better. Many famous muay thai fighters that I look up to, (buakaw, Saenchai, Yoddecha, Namsaknoi, etc) grew up in an even tougher situation than what you see here now. Yoddecha was a former child slave, and many of them were living in poverty. No fight = no food. This is nearly no longer happening. Tourism has made Thailand much richer than before. Muay thai is getting less and less competitive because there are actual career paths for kids. Back then poor folks can only fight.
    Issan is poor so they can only do muay thai for money. That's why more champions come from there. Richer region can afford to send their kids to school.

      Traumatic brain injury is a growing concern in all violent contact sports [ice hockey, NFL, rugby, boxing, MMA, muay Thai etc] and the effects of constant and repeated effects of violent blows and jolts to the head. The results can have more serious neurological effects and be exacerbated in children because cerebral maturation is at various stages of development [skull and brain tissue yet to be fully formed]

      yes whats the reason lmao? in the industrial revolution the UK had kids as young as 6 years old working in coal mines and getting crushed or killed. Chimney sweeps, etc, so much child death that was much worse than this video. So by that metric then UK's success is built on the blood and suffering of soo many of its children. Now, modern societies of the west have exported their child suffering to third world countries in an extremely exploitative manner. You are a stupid fool with no knowledge of anything.

    There are plenty of kids who don't do this by choice. They're forced by their parents or the gym to fight, and they don't get very much of the prize money, if at all. I know of a boy who was forced to fight by his aunt (the owner of the gym) from 5 years old to 11. Whenever he tried to escape, he'd just be forced back. He won most fights, so he was a cash cow, but he would get only a tiny amount of the prize himself. He eventually just stopped doing anything, forced or not, because he was having trouble concentrating, and he was being robbed of his childhood. It was training every day to fight, and nothing else.

    The problem is not the kids fighting, it's the people relying on those kids for money. They shouldn't allow betting for kid fights and everything would be normal. In the west also we have good fighters, but they didn't fight to win their families gambling money. I saw many good fighter who started as a hobby. One star in bangkok right now is a french guy who started boxing at 20 years old. They are killing their children and the country's future. It's a shame because they are awesome people. It's not even because of poverty because there are poorer countries where they don't do this bad to their children. Same for the young girls in isan that go to bangkok to sell their bodies only to earn health issues after. Poverty is a cheap excuse for this, I lived in a poorer country, they suffer also but poor people always try to keep their children as safe as possible because the only exit from poverty for them is their children's good future. A sick child will become a burden for them later and the cycle of poverty will continue...

You don't train to bruise ribs, smash groins, and crack faces in baseball. You don't have to go home a physically beaten loser, with the disappointment of your entire town if you play basketball. Stop normalizing this and saying it's just fine, because it certainly isn't. Yes this is their livelihood but that does NOT make it morally in the right. ごみTRxSH not eating before losing weight, you burn more fat. When you workout on an empty stomach your body is burning stored fats. To calories you need to eat less calories than your body needs to burn off. Yes eating before working out is fine but it’s more effective to burn weight on an empty stomach. Now being hungry and working out that’s a bad idea

    Muaythai, is a lesson of life, you can't simply come fresh out of your world and understand the depth of it. Fighter s deserve the ultimate respect, for the lesson of sacrifice to help their own out of extreme poor conditions, they give their life for that. This part is absolutely missing in the report, i wanted to mention.

      You derive pleasure from being kicked and elbowed all over your body and groin area by your male peers and you also you enjoy inflicting pain hurting them back.
      There’s a term for that and an entire discipline in psychiatry dedicated to this deviant behaviour.

    • @SanderSovrlic-alesov
      @SanderSovrlic-alesov 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      imogen It’s full contact fight! Of course you’re in for some beating, knocks, blows and punches and pain. Can’t tell me that it is not painful. Your body gets strong enough in training to withstand the pain and over time your brain just becomes desensitized to a lot of hits and of course during the match the adrenaline spike alleviates the pain while the fight is going on but you’re going to feel the effects of it soon enough.
      I play soccer and it can be hard on my muscles, joints and after each game I need 2-3 days to recover my whole body and even this sport can be painful so I can only imagine how painful must these fights be between two trained fighters who are out to hurt each other until one of them is floored and concussed.
      You’re mentioning box and I’m surprised you forget that most pro fights require a long recovery process which is why you don’t see those people fighting every week! They take months to recover from a single fight! All brusied, battered, concussed and exhausted.
      Wearing protective gear helps a lot but we’re talking here about these kids who have to fight without any of it and they have to fight every week! You have to be as crazy as that promoter in the doc to think this tempo is good for their bodies and brain. Not to mention that they use some of the worst punches there possible are like elbowing, kneeing someone in the groin, stomach, head... This is some crazy shit. At least in boxing you can only use your fists.

    Without Muay Thai, a lot of these families would be jobless and living on the streets without food or housing. There would be no ability to climb any sort of ladder, because you'd be at the mercy of your employer. At the very least, this provides a means of income and eating, verses being unemployed and relying totally on an education/government that doesn't even guarantee a job. I think this practice should be spread to even first world countries like Americas and Britain. Gambling on fighting sports should also be allowed. To think you can make money with a walk in fight is great. Some guy off the street can make money. Unless, you are handicap, you'll always have a way if you take care of yourself.
