    I absolutely love the fact that you are raising your daughter to understand permaculture from the time that she is able to get outside with you. It was so fun to watch her going around with you during your tour of the farm, and her eagerness to help. Latifa is precious! Thank you for your videos that share your Zaytuna Farm, it's amazing to say the least. I have a 10ac farm in South Carolina, southeastern coast of US. I plan on applying many of the principles that you showed, and I hope to have success too. God Bless

      Just as the minds and hands of the masses; have been educated up and trained up to function efficiently - for the capitalist imposed money powered money generation systems - way of life - designed to grow wealth for the wealthy and to prosper their towns and cities to proliferate and flourish - growing across the face of the Earth.
      If we (the masses) will see fit to reject the pre-designed Elite owned education system (educated in) government imposed - money empowered - fellow man slavery to money generation systems - way of life.
      And stop being addicted to all the over entertainments And (over empowered by money - Corporations produced - Things) which are all made possible and empowered by the toil and sweat of our brow - (Money generation systems) - which keep generating more un-necessary Things for us to buy - and thus perpetually slave & work for.
      Let us instead cut out the money powered (leader led) over- complication of lifestyle which believing in capitalism (causes us to be a slave to.)
      Let us simply - disconnect from that over-educated in - way of life - to the highest degree possible.
      If we come together via the Internet utilizing A specialized website for True consensus voting we can simply design our way out of our slavery to money generation systems - die making design proposals and allowing the mechanisms designed into the website to segregate us by matching lists of those are referred attributes and preferences for tolerable governance parameters.
      And that's eventually we will have acquired an entire Village population of like-minded people cooler on the same page regarding the understanding of what needs to be accomplished to keep a village population well-provisioned and well-managed.
      and it can all be accomplished simply by playing a voting game online at least specialized website which we need to create preferably even sooner than yesterday,
      Please note:
      this method of converting Humanity back to properly utilizing and nurturing the Earth's natural provision systems (instead of the money generation systems method of provisioning humanity)
      will require an initial investment at the end of the ((strictly volunteer (design work) of creating our own efficently self-provisioned - well-governed permaculture type (free of charge) villages.))
      An initial investment to purchase a portion of suitable tropical jungle with which to convert into prolific food forested Village ((will be required.))
      But rest assured- the surplus production of high quality handmade utensils and furnishings Plus quality organic produce will generate more than enough funds to cover our (designed in minimal need) of money - such as for property taxes.
      also please note the design of the village (I envision) will not allow the use of money - within - (The Village population planted and maintained) - (gated - living border walls.)
      Thus, all sales will be accomplished outside the village; Thus being - one of the worst chores we'll have to deal with.
      on our rotating duties cycle - which will be listed on our (daily, weekly, monthly,) scheduled - computer divulged lists - of Rotating Duties and chores.

    In lush temperate areas it seems like the way to start a food forest or polyculture orchard is just to start watering and throwing weed seeds down (here it would be wild roses, hawthorns, scotch broom and thistles). If you irrigate a patch of field it will turn to thicket in two years. Then chop out holes on the shady side of your largest bushes, to plant your fruit trees into. Chop and drop these shade-producing pioneers as they get too big and your fruit trees need more light.

    So you have to make a choice between a wall composed of lime and mud, but is a poor shield to protect the interior from a driving rain. When it gets wet, it will disintegrate.
    If you use a concrete-based material, the water rebounds and rots out the interior material.
    What about using a plastic that is made from hemp?

Was wondering if other permaculturists use kudzu (especially the lobata form common in the United states) or Arachis pintoi instead as permanent groundcover? How do they compare with lablab? If they were planted in combination, which will eventually predominate? And how do they differ as forages?

    The first quote is sad. Perhaps the lack of awareness of other cultures outside of the one being described is the reason. Natives have for centuries designed all of their agriculture after starving when they planted the same crops repeatedly for too long. Africans and other cultures also did the same. I want this idea to be linked to the entire narrative as we, the non-invited, usually get erased from the history that so clearly started in "The Garden of Eden." All of us lose when we approach relearning lost skills as though we just discovered it. Please include the other cultures to give all involved a clearer picture and therefore a stronger argument or why it is NEEDED as the best way of producing food. Trust me, adding them makes your case stronger to your audiences and will also heal the people told for centuries that their knowledge was not relevant or viable. It is time for us to heal each other...now! The actual video was great...I like the co-star. May we all learn to build and share how to make the world better..together for her generation.

    You provide your animals with a wonderful life. I think human beings, as animals ourselves, are designed to eat small amounts of meat by nature. This is because we have two small teeth in our mouths designed for such a purpose. I am very much looking forward to developing my acre lot in puna Hawaii in this manner. Naturally. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. We humans need to figure out ways in which to be collectively less damaging to our own habitat.

      Looks like it might be filmed in the cooler months. Australian people are always very amused by the international hysteria around snakes. They're pretty timid and mostly wanna get away. Keep your eyes peeled, try not to stand on them, remember how few people are killed by them - and how many of those who are are trying to kill the snake - and you'll soon start to wonder what all the fuss is about!

    I would not like you to think that I disapprove of your efforts and aims, that could not be further from the truth. However I must take issue with the statement at the head of this video. "that no one had applied design to agriculture in 7000 years". This is patently untrue it would be more true to say ancient systems of developed agriculture had for one reason or another been abandoned, and only sketchy remains and ghostly traces to remind us of differing ways of doing things. My own path with what is now called permaculture started back in 1972 when as a 15 year old I started to pull together agricultural production elements I was aware of into a system that might work in Southern England. I use the term agriculture in the loosest sense as my design included arboricultural and aquacultural main features. Now I was basing my designs on the work of others much of which was ancient and further more I was aware of many others in roughly the same time period working their own designs. Bill Mollison bless him jumped onto the band wagon many miles down the road and started conducting , a facility that had been sadly lacking in the past and in truth was much needed. I would like to issue a word of warning that unless the work of Peter Andrews , Allan Savory and Bill Mollison amongst others are going to press forward through the centuries a dedicated Agricultural University on the lines of Oxford, Cambridge or Yale will need to be established , this will not be a cheap enterprise as it's structures and ethos will need to be as permanent as it is possible to make it. I fear if this is not achieved these movements are as likely to blow away as all the systems of the past. Whilst ground swell is the most important feature of any movement it must be backed up recorded and taught, libraries formed, histories studied and research conducted.I am sorry to say that no matter how well meaning micro institutes will not cut the mustard.

      Humans need meat to live and be healthy. You can take chemical supplements to try to fake the nutrition from meat if your want. I have no intention of doing such an insane thing. Also you hurt our cause, our fight for sustainability, by asking people to do such an insane and unnatural thing, you turn many many who would join us away because they think we are all as crazy as you and expect humans to give up things they need to live so thanks a lot for that.

    • @captainblood9616
      @captainblood9616 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not vegan/vegetarian but I have to tell you that you have some facts wrong. Humans can survive just fine without meat in perfect health and there have been many lifelong vegetarians to prove it. They were not "insane" and didn't need any chemical supplements to do it either and given that our digestive system is not anything like a carnivores it's not an unnatural way of life for a Human, meat was something we started eating very recently in our development as a species. The only thing vegetarians need to watch out for is vitamin B12 which has its origin in a soil bacteria, B12 fortified foods get it from that same bacteria that herbivore animals do so there's no artificial chemicals involved really. I think if meat is eaten it should be hunted animals or humanely farmed like Geoff shows here rather than the factory farming we have today - now *that* is unnatural. Vegans can be self righteous, preachy assholes sometimes and that can be a turn off that's true.

      @@heidiembrey4917 lmao, yeah humans need to eat meat to be healthy, look how healthy all the 1st world countries with diabetes, high blood pressure and dont even let me get started about the health issues for the children. Everybody knows that we all have been. brainwashed to eat meat from a young age, just so that luciferians can continue to drink human blood and meat. Look into "natural flavors" in any 1st world country almost every single item has natural flavors which is nothing more than fetal tissue. Let's stop the lying that humans need meat, what happens when you eat a big Turkey or steak dinner? Your body cannot even process it, so you get sleepy and tired.. after changing to an all plant diet, my carpal tunnel syndrome along with my acid reflex disease went away for good and I have had better health than ever before..

    • @chipthomas4169
      @chipthomas4169 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The human body responds VERY WELL to the mineral content in meat! The iron, zinc, and other trace minerals in meat are excellent for people. Further, THINK what nature itself does. The average calf/lamb/kid/piglet crop is half males and half females. Yet only a fraction of those males are needed to maintain the species, thus the species itself produces BY Nature a surplus that is available for use as food by other organisms, including us. Geoff's mentor/inspiration Bill Mollison wrote about this natural role of animals and fish as food sources in his writings on permaculture.

    I wish I had that kind of property. I live in the garage because of the kindness of someone else because I was homeless. I feed all three of the people in this house out of grow bags. Kale spinach carrots potatoes beets beans and shortly I'm hoping to try yellow squash or summer squash or hook squash it's all the same stuff and zucchini. And I grow chives green onions oregano time basil I don't know there's a couple more in there I don't even know anymore and then I got everything I never even planted I don't even know where it came from but it's growing so I just let it grow like I have like an apple tree growing I never planted an apple ever. I have a pair that's growing I never planted a pair every beat that is around my house I never planted or even bought seeds for beets I just simply cut the tops off of beets that I eat and through them into my composter next thing I know everywhere I put that compost and that worm crap grows beats it also grows carrots it also grows oh my god celery everything everything grows out of what I don't even have to buy anything All I got to do is throw dirt into a bag and it'll grow something because I grew the soil would I have is not dirt it's soil and everything grows out of it I don't even have to buy or plant anything that simple folks grow the earth take care of the earth which takes care of you and everything no matter what you do will thrive

  • @Pleasegoaway2024
    @Pleasegoaway2024 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Actually the necessity of any plant is soil itself. It has nothing to do with the being the seed or anything if it doesn't have soil it will not grow. See everybody thinks that growing plants is farming. Farming is actually growing soil. Not destroying it like everybody seems to want to do. It's growing it. And then if you grow the soil everything on Earth will grow if you throw it into it it makes no difference how many thrown on spot it doesn't make any difference what you throw into it if you grow real soil not dirt anything on this planet will grow in it if you're in the wrong climate some may grow but they may not make it. But anywhere else they would do the same thing I've literally turned little sand in Florida into the most lush soil. It's simple it really isn't even hard. I compost everything in the house I have worms the worms turn it into worm s*** which is basically nothing but black gold and I threw it everywhere in this sand it was literally sand and eroded it did everything. It's not sand anymore folks because the microbiome of the world has now taken over there's worms out there there's things growing out there I got celery lettuce everything and the only reason I even planted that crap was not to grow a garden I thought it would fail. I really did I thought it would fail because it was nothing but sand. But because of what I did and what I planted around them. I now have a second vegetable garden where one shouldn't be and it was all based on trying to protect erosion. That's right folks I was trying to stop erosion I wasn't trying to plan a garden or grow plants I was trying to stop erosion. Now I have a vegetable garden full of romaine celery beads everything all because I wanted to stop erosion
