Baby Bumps: Traditional African Welcome Song

Dancing, songs and baby bumps galore greeted Mama Mayila and uncle Williams at the second distribution of baby boxes for mums-to-be at the York Community Health Centre. Eighty women from our local communities, York, Tokeh, John Obey, Big Water and Black Johnson attended and after a warm handshake from new chief health officer, Lansana and introductions from Mama Mayila 15 young mums receiving baby clothes for their newborns and 35 expectant mothers receiving Baby Boxes packed full of essential kit to help the pregnancy all thanks to Aunty Marenka and Heart for Humanity who collected the donations in the Netherlands and shipped them to Sierra Leone. We plan to follow these York mums and their babies journeys helping the clinical team boost vital vaccine take-up in the first year of the newborn's life.Thanks to the fantastic nursing team, Isha, Maddie, Rugiatu, Marie, Hawanatu, Mariama, Isatu Douglas and Chief Health Officer, Mr. Lansana Fofanah!
