Betty White had an awesome comeback for Brett when she said the new years coming and another year with Allen Ludden, and Betty said Well I`d rather have that than all Sommers..........Betty ain`t stupid. Love her!
Mary Ann was one of those beautiful girls that everyone fawned all over, so all her life she imagined herself to be so charming and terribly witty ……but then she gets on Match Game!
ROFL! Another good after dinner episode.. ;0) Well Bert.... ;0) And I was worried that MG75 would be boring way it started off.. ;0) Mary Ann high again???
Oh please it's a fun game show. Fannie Flagg has said about Brett Somers and Charles Nelson Reilly "It was never mean or hurtful and they loved it when you razzed them back." You lot take it too seriously. Brett is fabulous and the show wouldn't have been as good if Brett wasn't on it. Brett helps make the show.
The "ring-around-the-collar" commercials were so frequent and so annoying they burned into our brains. "You've tried scrubbing them out; You've tried soaking them out ..." but "Wisk around the collar beats ring around the collar every time!" Almost 50 years later I can still hear that annoying little voice chanting "ring around the collar" and see the agonized look on the face of that poor housewife. (Of course, in the 80s the commercials got more liberated and it was the guys dealing with their own problem.) I would have sabotaged myself on "Oliver [blank]". I first thought "Twist" but then I would have said "Wait, that's Richard, who frequently does his Stan Laurel imitation," and answered "Hardy."

Wow what's up with Mary Ann and the altar boy look?me thinks the 500 dollar answer was ring around the collar. I have to say Dolly is awesome, Linda's no slouch either
For most of the 1970s, some kind of smock top was in fashion. We wore them alone during the warm weather, and over another layer (blouse, turtleneck, cowl neck sweater) when the weather was cold.
The supematch is supposed to be difficult, but how EASY was Oliver? That was just DUMB considering the supematch is supposed to be tough (or at least not THAT easy)
I take my phone to bed and fall asleep with Match Game every night it's the best show that's ever been on TV or TH-cam

She wasn't all that.
Back when $5,600 COULD get you excited to buy a car!
That would be equal to about $26,500 today.
A very nice car. Or a hefty down payment on an average house (which cost around $40,000).

Brett like to call it the dummy seat in later episodes.
should have got the shot from the back as she leaned over to kiss Rishard like they did back with Marjorie
I'm sure that was the reason WHY they didn't get the shot from the back again!

@kristabrewer6736 Are you ever happy...about anything?
ever notice how every so often Richard would subtley try to upstage Gene?? is it just me or....?? does anybody else see it or no??
He did it a lot over the years.
lol, not it's not just you. Saint Richard's such a crybaby, he ALWAYS has to upstage SOMEONE
That's why RD came with the correction about the " ring around....." RD was real upset when Gene said audience gave contestant that choice!
i dont see it as Upstaging, they had a repartee
They played off each other. Gene often played the straight man so Richard could take the joke. The were working as a team.
