I was honestly impressed with the driver . It’s not easy at all to drive a car which is supposed do have max 100 HP with such a monster engine. The launch is also impressing ! Wheel spin of course but seems very controlled

This Kadett requires actual driving! Most of his opponents were "press X to win" cars where you don't have to do anything yourself anymore.

I borrowed a colleague’s 1.6 diesel back in the day. Went for an overtake, not enough poke so dropped a cog - overtake aborted.
A few years later I had a 16v GTE, still not quite as quick as this!

The most impressive thing about this, is that it didn't yet rust to bits. Most Kadetts rotted trough the fenders in a year or 6
Most Kadett's that rotted at the fenders were saved by the time they did that, what really sent most of them to the eternal hunting grounds was the floor cross member rotting through, at the point where the control arms are attached.
That's a beast.

The mk1 kadett's or vauxhall astras as they were in UK were bulletproof, find a good low-miler and it's a car for life,the standard mk2s are probably better than what they make today

But that's unfair when compared to modern cars with launch control. The kadett always had the higher final speed. The V10 would have lost with a rolling start!

In the 90s you where super cool in my hometown when you had an Opel Kadett/Astra GSI, or Volkswagen GTI. But an Volkswagen Corado G60 was just gangsta. One of those cars with an amp connected to big speakers and a subwoofer was realy a chickmagnet., Travelling in style when you where driving to the disco with some local girls. Missing those days.... Now i am driving a family car with crying and fighting kids in the backseat.

Is this Kadett with more than 700 hp still front wheel driven? Or is it a 4WD? I can’t imagine how you get 700 hp on the street with front wheel drive only.

Had a Kadett 200 GSi Superboss with the Cosworth head...car was a monster..regret selling it because it's a collectors item today
Used to be pretty common car when I was a kid, I thought they'd all rusted away into oblivion by now. =D
i still drive one 1.6 ls in almost perfect condition, still sleeps in garage and only 170.000km
For me too..! very recognizable from childhood times. My uncle had a 1.6 swing .. back then i thought it was a simple car compared to my dad's classic Citroën DS which was our daily. Later on I discovered the GSI 16v.. which i found way more interesting 😋
It must be a hell lot of fun, driving this Kadett on a german Autobahn!!!

A car like this is sadly very unstable to drive at speeds like that 😅. You need really grippy tires for compensation because the weight distribution isn't balanced also the balance point is way too high up the car. They luckily reinforced the car with steel bars otherwise you feel the car shaking at high speeds and sidewinds.
car has good cw ratings. astra had it too, even with 75PS you could hit around 165km/h top speed in real. downhill i hit 205 on speedo. so like 180 in real. but things got very sketchy due to suspension that wasn´t designed for stunts like that.

My first car was a Opel kadett rally from year 1973, that was a fun car, if i knew back then what i know today, i wouldnt sold it, they are realy expensive today but life came in the way, lol.

original F28 Opel Calibra/Vectra Turbo Gearbox but with straight 4th Gear, drive shafts are completely original

Opel Kadett is the sleeper I've never thought about
Mate, you just need a Fueltech injection system. Those are built in Brazil. Take the model FT550. This will make you car fly more. I also have a Kadett c20xe using this injection. You can do what ever you need.
Not to bad, I think a better size turbo which will not drop off boost inbetween gear changes will enable this car to stay in front....
in the past it would have been funny to blow up an AUDI R8 or V8 or anything else with such a sleeper car, standing at the red light at the end of a german city, right before the Autobahn begins. I had such nice situations when I was young, with my GSI 16V, orginal 150 HP. On the other lane for example an BMW 320i. If the Bullen (german cops) had seen such an illegal race, it had took me 20 Deutschmarks, so what. Today it takes me 2000 EUR, licence away and 6 months jail. Thank you.

@@Dutchboi85 you need a strong Engine that can handle the power, bigger turbo, bigger fuel injectors, enough Fuel, good camshafts, bigger Air intake and Exhaust and a good Man for the ECU

Der Kadett wiegt ca. 1000Kg also er hat ein Leistungsgewicht von ca. 1,33kg mit 750PS gerechnet und er hat keine Straßenzulassung...

@@76erRekord es gibt 1/8Meile, 1/4Meile es gibt 1/2Meile es gibt 1Meile Rennen. Einen Standard gibts da nicht. Bei der halben Meile gehts manchmal um die Zeit manchmal um die höhere Geschwindigkeit👌🏻
