I almost picked this one up a few weeks ago but was put off by some saying it was pretty stiff. I ended up going w/ the regular Hyperion 2 and I'm really enjoying that one so far. Thanks for the review!
To me it felt perfect from the moment I put it on. All my runs in it have been wonderful. I also love the original version. It definitely does feel premium.
I definitely was surprised and enjoyed this shoe even though I don't need the stability elements per se, it does feel like it's over-correcting me at times but not enough to cause a gait or stride change. I prefer it for middle-length runs and feels good when you pick up the pace. Great review!
Absolutely in love with this shoe, picked it up for my first ever half marathon and it was great for the full duration. Perfect for my above-average wide feet and I quite liked the firmer feeling. I don’t think they feel heavy on feet at all, and not to mention the laces are chefs kiss. For anyone on the fence, I’d say go for it.
Went out for my first run in these today, and loving them. Great for upping the pace, and i'll be using them for my marathon training. Definitely feel i could do some long miles in these, but agree that i wouldn't use them on race day. Got the Endorphin Pro 4 for races.
Loved these instantly and will also buy the Hyperion 2 when it’s time to replace my Rebel 4. Yes, it’s on the firmer side but the roll geometry works really well for my mechanics and my feet feel good after LR’s in the Max2-so far up to 16 mi. I wouldn’t mind it a bit softer but I prefer it to my Rebel for long runs. It has one of the best uppers ever and the laces are going to get saved even when the shoe is worn out-they’re superb and never needed to be adjusted or retied once. I agree I could live without the elf thingy but I’ve felt that way about elf heels since they first appeared on so many shoes. I’d rather have a little pull tab or nothing. I’ve had zero issues with this shoe with about 40 mi on them so far. I’m using them only for LR’s and they’re particularly good with MP miles inside of LR’s.
Really enjoying this one !!! Longer run cruiser for me... as a bigger felow always on the lookout for firmer foams, also very comfortable fit 👌 (fit wise boston and diviate went straight into garbage bin after acquiring this one) and good looks always make shoe taste better 😁 Hope brooks will continue on good path - good performing but also good looking running shoes 👍 - very bad traction on wet concrete though
I love this shoe, I’m favouring it over my beloved superblast, the only down side for me is that it’s terrifying in the wet! I’ve actually turned round and gone home in drizzle conditions as running tarmac hills up and down near me in the wet scared me
@@mikewainwright_ honestly out of 10 I would give them a 2. I’ve not been out when it’s pouring but if it drizzles and it’s greasy they are not fun to be in. Midsole voice is back! 😍 I have like 25 shoes. None of them is Brooks - for a very good reason. However, I absolutely like this one, a traditional feel, classic trainer, very good upper, comfortable, durable, effective, consistent and excels at long runs. It is also beautiful. Cheers Ed. Got a pair over the summer. Love the upper, but just not sure about it overall. Feels a bit hard and perhaps a bit clumpy. Hopefully it’s a grower.
Hi Edd, lovin the content! The Hyperion Max 2 is the 1st Brooks shoe I’ve ever run in and if this is how the previous Brooks shoes have been then I’m bloody upset as I love this shoe. For me its got the midsole feel of the original Adidas Boost from 2014 (ish). Not really all that soft but beautifully responsive. Only thing I did feel was that on tired legs later in my running week, it felt a bit stiff. But its a lovely cruiser
I love how natural the stride is in this shoe. The only draw back i have found is that it reminds me of the speed 2 and 3 where the grip is meh in the rain.
Another great review. I wonder whether this shoe might suit heavier runners, who might get a bit more compression into that foam? The so-called experts seem to always recommend FIRM cushioning for the larger folk. I love your shirt, BTW. It is like a "digital dinosaur" display. You could add 8-track to it! Funny how the industry has changed. Those of us old enough to have seen it from the beginning have stories to tell. We've seen the demise of vinyl, and now the resurgence. We've seen clunky 8-track, where you'd fast forward accidentally into the middle of the following track. And now, we benefit from all of the digital, solid-state options which are technically perfect, but perhaps a bit sterile. Audiophiles have a lot of options these days. Just like us shoe nerds. Thanks for helping sort the herd.
Great shoe. First time running in max cushion shoe. I have over 200 miles on my pair. The shoes are holding up fine. Highly recommend. I have also run in the Hyperion Max 1. Both shoes are great. The 1st model is much lighter.
I really like the latest itteration of Flash DNA , I think its a perfect blend for me (reminds me of a durable version of the stuff you got in the skechers hyperspeed razor bla bla ) but more of it .. loving the hyperion 2 .. which is like a better version of the original hyperion max . Will press buy on the above shoe at some point just to finish my brooks rotation .. but I have a few pairs of rebel v4's to get through for that zone 2/3 sort of paces where the 80% Eva / 20% peba blend does the job (but not quite as good as DNA flash 2)

So for me the Hyperion Max 2 are superior to the Endorphin Speed 4 and the Magic Speed 4. They feel light enough for me, very comfortable and fun. I ran an 87 minutes HM in them (I don't spoil the pricey Elites in secondary races) and my legs felt great after the race.
I really enjoy these but they work the calves with the rocker. When you get into a flow and hit the forefoot right it settles into a nice steady rhythm.
I think your channels may have been hacked as the have been some footage of some scary bald man running has been inserted !?! The review top notch as always... hopefully I'll get to play in a pair of these in the next coupon of weeks.
The only draw back when trying this shoe was the way the heel mid sole was split in two parts with a gap in the middle. Yes the cushioning is where you need it. But I found the gap to make it too unstable for me. I am on about the midsole designe around the heel. The heel slide in didnt affect me. And felt great. Just would prefer a more well rounded under heel support. I liked the shoe aside from this. Went with Brooks Levitate 6 instead.
Hi Edd, just wondering how you use the term resilience. Young's collaboration with Devo is not so weird and can be easily explained if you're a Spud, a fan of Devo and understand the bands origins. The concept of humanity is regressing backward and becoming more dysfunctional. In the song, Mark Mothersbough of Devo is playing his fictional alter ego character Booji Boy. Booji Boy represents the spirit of infantile de-evolution. He wears a baby mask and dresses in an orange nuclear protection suit. He plays the synthesizer in a crib, and the muted voice is his baby's voice. He usually comes out in that character and sings that way in concert when Devo does their encore. Booji Boy's father is General Boy, a fictional character played by Mark's actual real father. He's in the song Jocko Homo. The first song Mothersbough wrote about the de- evolution of man. Devo had a big influence on electronicic music and Neil Young. Mothersbough coined the phrase " Rust Never Sleeps." Neil was so impressed, he added that phrase in the lyrics of Hey Hey My My and called his next album by that name too.
@EDDBUD Devo has a 5k run they hold annually in their hometown of Acron, Ohio. A lot of the runners wear the Devo red energy dome hats, and I heard the medals they give out to finishers say, " you can't run from de-evolution "

Either way, it’s primal and very intriguing. The repetition is particularly interesting to me as a long jam crazy horse fan.
@EDDBUD
Devo has a 5k run they hold annually in their hometown of Acron, Ohio. A lot of the runners wear the Devo red energy dome hats, and I heard the medals they give out to finishers say, " you can't run from de-evolution "
They have the Hyperion 2 if you want lighter Ed. I've been really enjoying that one. No interest in the Hyperion max 2.
Not looking for any new shoes right now so probably shouldn’t be watching this video! Love your t shirt though 😊
Thanks for tuning in!
Pretty sure the word you're looking for is serated. Perforated means it's full of holes.
@@andrewrumayar3103 you are spot on! 🤣

it ok like the elite 4 better
handled one the other day; typical Brooks, despite being "max" it felt as hard as a board when I pushed my thumbs into it. Typical Brooks: heavy and hard. They still haven't made any shoes in the last 10 years that would make me buy Brooks instead of another brand.
Hard to judge a shoe ok feeling it alone. It’s a great tempo model
@@EDDBUD tru dat, but there are better, lighter tempo shoes. Making a "max stak" heavy tempo shoe is kind of puzzling. Unless of course it's supposed to be for shorter people so they can feel taller while running. Like I feel when I put on my OG SC Trainers.
@@tazpengra lighter than the not max Zoom fly 5 and much more forgiving.
