That’s my ONLY problem with some Slipknot stuff. 3 different percussionists make it hard to really hear how much of a genius Paul was. His music mind was next level you nailed it
Jorden McKinney fr tho. Part of what I love about Slipknot is having 3 percussionists. But it’s also part of what I don’t like. Paul really doesn’t get the credit he’s deserved.
This song has such a misunderstood bass. I knew as soon as you nailed that groove in the chorus that you'd got it right. I've seen way too many bassists murder this song. You have restored my faith in humanity!
Wilson hybrid this version seems slightly different than what's on the album at some parts. Watch the video of Paul gray doing it for comparison. It's subtle but slightly different
The Behind the Player version is not the same as the album version. It'd dumbed down. The isolated bass track from the album is floating around somewhere.
God bless the people who play warwick basses, particulary, fortress models... Is the most complete and wide range bass, ever!!!!, I'm a proud owner and player of that mark...
Agreed! He’s amazing! But, props to Paul. He played that same lick here. Paul always mentioned how he liked to mixed things up live, and this is what came of it. th-cam.com/video/uOzcgCmDygM/w-d-xo.html
I never heard before these bass details on the actual song, the bass has so much work, guitars, drums, everything got a level of complexity with slipknot
@@7sloth also covering them requires the same level of dexterity and speed which you executed really nice! Thanks for sharing this cover, you got a new sub 👍
Duality is one of my favorite songs by Slipknot, and I've seen many bass covers of it, but yours is by far the best ! And what a tone ! Great Job man 👏👏
Beautiful bass tone at :50-1:04. Sounds like a train running down the tracks. Love it, very dark and sinister with a nice metallic clack!! As a drummer I would definitely like hearing that every night next to the ride cymbal!!
Paul wrote some great riffs for slipknot not the most technical out there but he could write a great hook and was a great natural song writer slipknot has never been the same without him
This is hands down the best Duality cover out. Fuckin sick dude. *insert shred it meme* Keep em comin dude. You're seriously motivating me to get back to it and kick lifes ass with my bass. Thanks for the awesome video.
joseph centeno Thanks very much for your kind words. Grab that bass and have some fun! I'm stoked my video has been motivating for you! Go kick some ass man!
This is probably the perfect song to do a bass cover of, because the bass in the song is already amazing as it is, so it makes more sense to hear the bass in focus
I am all about that Bass... My tinnitus needs that edge you need to stay sane.... So bass players Crank it up and Crank it out... With my blessing...USN
Everyone in this song does a great job, from the bassist to the drummer to the singer and guitarists. You could say that about any band, but for this song especially cause you can admire different parts of it every time you listen to it and it's not just one or two guys carrying the song
Just fucking perfect man ! I listen your cover everyday because the song is better with the bass augmented. Sorry for my bad english i'm french i hope you understand what i have saying.
Why is rock so much better when you hear the rawness of the bass in the song
There's a big difference between rock and metal
@@nikosucksatskating uve clearly not heard him play
Rock ? ROCK ? SLIPKNOT = ROCK FOR YOU ?
Yup, one of the best bass souds i've ever heard. And i'm a bassist, heard a few already xd
Kalács is barely metal tho lmao

All he did was play the root note of what the guitar players played. No real genius there
NMages20 did you even watch/listen past the first 30 seconds
@@NMages20 have you heard the bass for spit it out, you really dont know what you're talking about... Dont be rude to a dead man.

That tone is just murder

what string gauge do you use?
@@MisterCitrusGaming he says 100 gauge but for Drop B I’m unsure how he achieves the tightness he shows in the video
THX!
@@JefferyIneptstein I was thinking the same thing. Be awesome if 7sloth could let us know what's going on there.
I have the action on this bass set quite high to help mitigate the fret buzz and tighten the feel on lower tunings.

John Smith there's a video of Paul gray, the person who was on the album playing the song. And I know it's different. That's what I said lol
Wilson hybrid Paul gray has a tutorial on this song. It’s done just like Paul gray pretty much
He's missing a lot of accents
I didnt know that olivier giroud plays the bass so well
Tom Myers r/whoosh
Pas mal 👌🏻🙂🙂🙂🇫🇷
Better than he does football
More like bernando silva..hahaha

Mad respect for playing this without a pick
Great tone and wild 3 finger picking

Easily the best Duality Bass Cover on TH-cam, your finger picking is nigh on perfect.
Love your bass tone!
There are no valid substitutes for the tone of a Warwick. Awesome cover
Kdaljeet I concur!
i've never heard slipknot bass ever but listening to covers makes me appreciate it way more
1:23 you play the best version of the chorus imo.
The different thing you do on the second "round" ( 1:30 ) makes it so nice to listen to.

Definitely agree on the great tone and finger playing! Rock on man!
Killer playing! Alex Webster himself would be proud of your 3-finger walk. Subbed!
The fact that he doesn't need assistance from a pick to play this song just makes this video even more better!
True Bassist 💯
Great to hear a 4 string bass playing double cords and octaves
Someone is a Ryan Martini and John Myung fan!
