I saw this tour August 24th... Saw them again march 22nd in Portland, their friend david from high school was there,i sat next to him. He told me great stories... He was definitely for real as david H waved to him twice,so did Cesar. Then on way out it end of show Cesar stopped to talk with him for a minute or so.
I’ve been following Derek since his 1st appearance with the ABB at age 13 and the Man is the greatest guitarist alive today. Growing up in the Texas Hill Country where we all were the same no matter our skin and we all spoke Spanglish we listened to bands like Los Lobos and the ABB this is Killer at my age!
Just saw LL in a small venue in Cleveland and they were great! I played "Just Another Band from East LA" cd so many times I delaminated the disc!!! ...Someday is one of my all time fav songs
Wonderful to hear Derek Trucks and Los Lobos do this!! Derek: So skilled and empathetic with Duane's phrases plus creating more! Los Lobos with Derek T making this a living piece again.
You need to go back and listen to Jack Pearson playing with the ABB. He had filled in for Dickey for a few weeks, then got a call to come audition for the band when Warren left. He and Warren were friends but Dickey didn't know him. After Jack played for him, Greg asked Dickey what he thought. Dickey said, "Either we hire him, or I take lessons from him." Jack left after less than 3 years due to hearing problems from the stage volume of Dickey's Amp. Jack did play with the Gtegg Allman Band and later with Les Brers. He's a phenomenal guitarist of many genres of music. You can catch him on TH-cam playing a stock ,$99 pawn shop Squire Strat and making make players with $10,000 guitars cry. Jack is the closest thing to Duane. Derek is very good, I saw him when he was 13, opening for Skynyrd in Atlanta. Uncle Butch was playing bass for him. His little brother played drums. He blew the roof off the Fox Theater. But Jack is a better all around guitar player. Watch him play gypsy jazz on acoustic with Tommy Emmanuel.
Was just listening to Los Lobos the other day in the car. They look so much older than i remember them. LOL I must, too. Damn FINE band, guest guitarist & song!
Agreed! I tried to learn guitar but couldn't get my left hand to cooperate with my left. I had to settle for listening and groovin'. Still, not a bad way to go.
This is great..LL are legends and Derrick is one of the best ever. Great jam and a good time had by Al especially the guys on stage..They gotta be thinking and they pay us to have this much fun..
@@bryansimmons4550 That was not Duane's fault it was the driver of the truck that cut him off & stopped in his path. , think if that accident never happened & how awesome Duane would be today . In about 1983 on Martha’s Vineyard, MA, my musician friend got about 10 of us to go out to the Carly Simon club, the Hot Tin Roof, because we HAD to hear Los Lobos! Sadly the Lobos were about 2 1/2 hours late and the night kind of fizzled
Saw this tour in Charlotte and "Uncle Gregg" Allman came on stage and played the keyboards on this. Just sublime. The crowd went crazy when he explained he just "would not, could not, no way in the world, go out that front door....."
I always kind of dug that low-key thing. Real relaxed, no bimbos backstage, seemed like they had families back home and stuff. They didn't even mind me drinking all of their beer. 😸
@Joe Hamlet You did not read the entire comment. I said "If". It may have been some kind of hallucination, but Greg once said that during a concert he could have sworn he saw and heard Duane to his left.
I saw Duane Allman six times in 13 months. Not bad for someone who couldn't get a driver's license until '71. But, I had a thumb! After seeing ABB for the first time in 1970, I'd have walked across water to get to 'em... to get to him. For more nearly 25 years I listened to Big D. (He was just "wittle DT," then) I listened and, one night in 2020, I knew. Or, maybe, I was just ready. These things take time! But, when the tears poured, I knew: The king is dead. Long live the King! ----- You sure don't gave far to go to find the Queen! Susan Tedeschi's voice can my heart stop! She is magnificent. They are the perfect storm.
i'd be turning the solos up as they come. the live mix on this is sh*tty, nope, that ain't your phone bud, Cesar & David can kick ass too, turn them up!
no band is tighter than Los Lobos. Once read a review of the band that said, “They are like jalapeño ice cream, Cool, Smooth and Hot”. yep. pretty much. Seems like mr. Trucks knows a thing or two.
Had the pleasure and privilege of seeing Los Lobos at least four times while I was living in CO from 1992 -2003. And they blew the roof off the place every time, even if it didn't have a roof. This is a freaking awesome performance. But it pisses me off that the sound person seemed to think Derek Trucks was the only damn guitar player on stage. Or maybe the person who was supposed to be doing the live mix had dropped dead at the soundboard. There are ass-kicking solos by Cesar Rosas, David Hidalgo and Steve Berlin that are absolutely fucking buried in the mix. Not one single second while those three guys are shredding ballz does the sound person put them front and center. That's disrespectful and disgraceful.
Not sure what you’re getting at there bro. This guy has 54 subscribers. The sound is terrible. Probably recorded off a phone. Depending on where they were standing, there is no mix.
@@rayburnyarborough4695 If the soundperson was actually doing his or her job, the phone would have picked it up just fine. Fabulous! Derek Trucks is easily one of the greatest slides guitarists ever created.
Two national treasures. Los Lobos is so much more than "La Bamba". Followed them since the early days in LA. Incredible musicians.
Got to see them last night. My wife grabbed 2nd row seats, quite the treat!

Duane Allman died but came back in Derek Trucks' body. Wow. Derek is a great talent and an even greater guitar player.
