The Omaha stadium seats 24K expandable to 35K. More than enough seats. Let MLB pay the 55 million to fix the Tropicana if they really want to stay in SWFL.
Move the Rays to Orlando? The Omaha METRO market (not just city proper) has approximately 868,000 residents and is 76th in TV market rankings. The Orlando metro market has over 2 million residents and is 19th in TV rankings. Also, TB fans would still be able to take a 2-hour drive to see the team on weekends and holidays. This would also save MLB from the burden of realigning divisions. Would fans in Omaha settle for a short term deal?
This is a good idea on a few levels for everyone. It wouldn't take much to get it MLB ready for em... and maybe going forward have Omaha be the official MLB homeless shelter. The people would actually show up for those games too and welcome em warmly
OK, so if it takes 50-60 mil to fix the trip, the Rays are paying Yankees $15 mil a year to rent their facility. 3 x 15 = 45 mil. Its not that far off and the Trop is already decked out with Rays stuff.
Omaha is the leader in the clubhouse. Couldn’t the Superdome be configured for baseball? Isn’t the Astrodome still standing? Isn’t Olympic Stadium still open in Montreal? Oakland Alameda County Stadium is literally major league operational right now. All of these are better options than any outdoor parks in Florida and/or fixing the Trop.
Why not move to Philadelphia and share Citizens Bank Park with the Phillies-until Jersey City can build a new one funded by MSG which needs summer programming?
Went to Creighton. Omaha is a great sports town.
Like Omaha could support a MLB team, such Silliness
Honestly, why couldn't they? The only competition they'd face is what? Nebraska football?
The Alamodome in San Antonio, the Oakland Coliseum, and Smith's Ballpark in Utah would all work too.
Bring them and we will come!
Come to Omaha we’ll show you nun but love here

If the plan is to stay in that region long term, I think the Rays will play in of the minor league parks in Clearwater or Dunedin.

Move them to Montreal or Raleigh which makes sense for them.
I'm hoping they move to Charlotte NC

They all make sense.
Rays are not moving to Houston
I’m in if they come here

I don’t care where they wind up, just change the name.
