Both Roger Scruton and Robert George spoke at my university a few years ago, I got to meet Scruton for a minute. They quickly became my favorite current philosophers.
awesome video! these guys are soldiers on the frontline and if they succeed few will know what they had to go through, hopefully it will become like a pool fence where you never hear about the young lives that were saved
Like this bloke, John Michell (/ˈmɪtʃəl/; 25 December 1724 - 21 April 1793) was an English natural philosopher and clergyman who provided pioneering insights in a wide range of scientific fields, including astronomy, geology, optics, and gravitation. Considered "one of the greatest unsung scientists of all time",[1] he was the first person known to propose the existence of Dark Stars not black holes in publication, the first to suggest that earthquakes travel in waves, the first to explain how to manufacture artificial magnets, and the first to apply statistics to the study of the cosmos, recognizing that double stars were a product of mutual gravitation. He also invented an apparatus to measure the mass of the Earth. He has been called both the father of seismology and the father of magnetometry. philosophy is the sword of ignorance used bye religion.
I have a sneaking suspicion that we may well see the names of some of these men on our libraries and halls in the future, when the so-called "culture wars" are fought and won.
We English speaking should form an Anglosphere group. It could include any nation, including France. The group could help nations build common law legal systems and parliamentary systems of government. While I’m an American who doesn’t think America should move to a parliamentary system, I think parliamentary systems are better at keeping away dictators. Just think of Putin, Chavez, Marcos and Erdogan to name a few. That all became dictators after having a lot of executive power.
Oh right so that why i could not work out what these people are talking about and why i have never heard of them. Philosophy is an extension of religion, ITs personal bias and opinion put into literary from( A GOSPEL OF PERSONAL INCREDUALITY). Philosophy does not use the scientific method , It is just a personal opinion with an attempt at authority. If it can`t be gained through the scientific method, It is against the scientific method and philosophy is not science in any way or form.
@@sadwingsraging3044 It was thought to be science at the time including by many scientists. It was the application of the evolutionary principle to government in other words science to areas outside it's strict remit. It was certainly the most disastrous idea of the twentieth century taken up by both the Nazis and the Communists. Perhaps you and Ossie would like to try again. Tell us the scientific principles on which government should be based... Ossie seems to think that anything else is beneath his consideration.

That's lovely. Scruton, Robert George, and Niall Ferguson are a lot more wise and clear-thinking than many 'academics' out there!
I wonder who are the other philosophers you admire ?
I've actually been searching once a day for this

Did you find it?
@@brightonduder no, but I think I'm close

No Michael you were not the only Scottish subscriber to The Salisbury Review!
Those that denounce others should study the Pendle Witch Trials and the film, The Stoning of Soraya!

Michael gove is a political chameleon. He does what suits him politically.

We have had government applying the 'scientific method' in dialectical materialism otherwise known as communism. That didn't work out too well...
Scientific method....
