This was a great video. Very informative. I am doing a scouting trip to CR in May 2025. To move permanently in August 2025. I am looking forward to seeing Costa Rico.
Your US number? No you’ll need to keep a plan in the US… Tello or Google Fi are cheap. And then a local SIM in Costa Rica for data. Or port your US number to Google Voice or another VoIP provider but some banks won’t send 2FA codes to Google voice.
Have done it many times, it’s fine. There are police everywhere, other than that it’s just a lot of partying and pr0stituti0n. Much cooler places than jacó
It depends on where, alone or with group, and what you are doing. If you are drunk on the beach alone at 1am, not really ... but that is true in any tourist beach town anywhere in the world truthfully. You need to just consider your familiarity of your surroundings. I was once robbed in Florence at 2am because I was drunk and stupid and wandered down the wrong street. It's not necessarily the location as much as the circumstance...
We like to stress that there are ways to live well at many price points. For $5k/month you can Weill quite nicely in Atenas - but this really depends on HOW you like to live, the home you want to rent (ex: the amenities, view, pool, etc.).
I understand that. We’ve been to CR a few times. My sister lives there and we love the simple lifestyle. We lived three years in Bulgaria and it was a similar way of life and we loved it. We cried when we had to leave.
Perfect timing! We are taking the leap come November! :)
exciting! if we can be of assistance please let us know!

Is Costa Rica crypto friendly?
yes - not everywhere but there is actually a growing crypto community
I have a question about the one way ticket. Do I have to have a return ticket purchased to get into Costa Rica? Or can I purchase the ticket later.
you are supposed to have a return ticket when you land. they normally ask.
Looking to maintain my Cell Phone number in Costa Rica and was wondering if a Porting Authorization Code (PAC Code) would work in Costa Rica?

What about money and/or credit cards - do most places accept cc or do you need to carry $?
credit cards (especially with tap) are widely used by all - and in many places (like toll booths) preferred to cash.
