I think self-driving cars are a horrible idea with respect to individual autonomy. Tracking and controlling people is being sold as convenience, safety, and "making the world a better place." I think self-driving cars are a horrible idea with respect to individual autonomy. Tracking and controlling people is being sold as convenience, safety, and "making the world a better place." I am sure the people working on such projects are not interested in understanding or accepting the fact that the future implementation of their technology is a step closer in the direction of a more restrictive and less free society. Great presentation, but bad idea.
A lot of the problems self-driving cars claim to solve could be solved if we just had better train/rail and public transportation infrastructure. The self-driving car industry is the smartest people working on the dumbest problem.
