I have never had a solid answer to "what is my favorite Jackson song". All of his songs have some meaning for all of us. As we know he is a brilliant songwriter, as well as an excellent singer and musician. He plays a piano like he was born already knowing how to play it. It's hard to think of Jackson w/out David, even now. I guess i would say the "Pretender" but they are all great. Standing in the breach for example (and others) are not like his 70's songs as much but are every bit as good and you can hear the maturity in his music. I love Jackson on so many levels and will until i am no longer here.
Your video sucks. Phyllis Major committed suicide, which you somehow seem to ignore…even though it’s the key element of your story. Terrible journalism. Don’t quit your day job.
I was born in 68 and I couldn't imagine Rock and Roll without Jackson Brown his music helped shape the 70s and 80s and the lyrics to running on empty hit home as I got older in a way that was inexplicable.
The pretender is my favorite, to me it’s the sum total of life’s attractions, family, love, loss and trying to find something he once had and held dearly. A never ending search that he knew he would never have again. I feel the anguish in his soulful singing phrasing and heartfelt lyrics
Jackson has become "a good friend" , all these years later, how could you not? J.D. Souther's passing really brought that home. I've told my kids be prepared..... Lost my husband, best friend in 2020, now they really have become like old friends. ❤
He has always been an inspiration for me my whole life. Hard to pick one song since they all have different & unique meanings and moods. Pretender, The Fuse, and Running on Empty are some of my favorites. We are very lucky to still having him performing & writing great music today. Truly a living legend in the music industry.
Why not tell the truth about his wifes death? It was a suicide. He found her dead when he came home after a tour. Her mom also attempted suicide when Phyllis was young. She had struggled with depression. TELL THE TRUTH!!!
Yes it was well known that she committed suicide while he was late in the studio creating "The Pretender" album! She had the sleeping pills delivered to their home. Sad at every turn.
Before the deluge , hit me strong when I first heard it, because it already was in my being. I believe it is again a great song for today’s world. Right now.. while in Topanga ,I was asked to talk to him- how I pulled through. Jackson Browne’s music is the soundtrack of my life. It has inspired, comforted and held my hand thru many changes and chapters throughout my life. He will always be my #1. Favorite Albums: Late for the Sky & The Pretender. Not mentioned but his wife committed suicide. You can hear his sorrow in many of his songs. He’s the nicest and most down to earth guy you could ever meet. So genuine. Why isn’t his older brother, Severin Browne, mentioned? He’s made a substantial mark in his own right as a talented and amazing musician.
Bonnie Raitt is my all time favorite! I also love Lauren Daigle, Ray Lamontagne, Karla Bonoff, Adele, Dan Fogelberg, BB King, Patti Griffin, Ray Charles, and Al Green. And of course, Joni Mitchell, Dolly Parton, Emmy Lou Harris, and Karen Carpenter. I have an eclectic taste in music, if you hadn’t noticed! The only genres I dislike are rap and opera.
Losing a loved 1 is always difficult. I've lost a few folks too. I volunteered behind the stage in S.F. at a Bill Graham commemorative show in Golden Gate Park. His tunes are great! * Cav *
Jackson and I are nearly the same age. He just turned 76 3 days ago and I will turn 76 3 months from yesterday. I live in Santa Barbara right behind the 2K seat Arlington Theatre and I've seen him walking in front of the Theatre and he stops sometimes to talk to a street musician who plays out in front. And he's played in the Theatre a number of times. He's lived in this area for a long time, and I have too. Moved here when I was 20 and he was performing at the Troubadour. I saw him at a benefit concert with Bonnie Raitt, a close friend, at the Santa Barbara Bowl. They were just jamming on their guitars and both of them were just killin' it. Bonnie can really play too. Jackson's written such great music over the years and is really a solid guy. A deeply reflective person.
I always liked Jackson's version of Take It Easy more than that of the Eagles - probably because of Sneaky Pete's gorgeous pedal steel solo and accompaniment. (The restored version highlights it even more.) Oddly enough, years ago when I was driving through Winslow, Arizona the song came on the radio, so of course I had to sing along.
"Phyllis passed away unexpectedly at the age of 30." "Passed away" is a weird framing for her actual cause of death. Why omit the *fact* that she committed suicide, @FactsVerse?
The Elephant in the room. I was a big fan. Very disappointed to learn of his bruiser history. Not just Phyllis, others too. Joni Mitchell wrote a song about this. No longer a fan of someone who was once such a big favorite. He is silent. I wonder if he ever sought help, as he should have.
Id like you to do a story on the rape of 16 year old Natalie Wood by 38 year old established movie star Kirk Douglas. Her agent set up a meeting so he could mentor her making the transition from child actress to adult roles. His wife was pregnant with son Peter at the time. Because she didn't yet have a driver's license her mother and little sister ( half asleep) were waiting in the car and parking lot at the chateau marmont. Her mother told her NO ONE WILL BELIEVE YOU and if she went to the police her career would be over. Even with the ME TOO movement this applies today. Coincidentally it was Daryl Hannah who stepped forward and said after being sexually harassed by Weinstein that THERE IS NO WHERE TO GO. Douglas NEVER expected Natalie Wood to become a household name and just as famous as him. The awkwardness of running into him at Hollywood events and even Rosalind Russells funeral. Natalie took it to her grave but her sister who heard whispers in the car and Natalie frantically crying ( but too young to really understand what happened) didn't. She waited until Douglas died at over 100+ years old to speak up probably too afraid to say so after Natalie's death about 40 years ago. You may even want to profile Lana who I believe was treated so poorly by her own mother. I believe she is underrated as an actress and she is just as beautiful as Natalie but different. Natalie looked Italian while Lana looked more Russian. She was in a James Bond film as Plenty O' Toole. Last I heard she was homeless. This bothers me SOOO much. Her daughter died young and she had a go fund me page. Douglas mentioned Natalie twice in his bio book The Ragmans Son but not the rape. In his warped mind he probably believed mentioning her was his way of making " nice". Also please Google Jean Spangler a woman who worked as a movie extra in Hollywood. She disappeared and only her purse was found in Griffith Park mentioning " Kirk" on a note and her mother is out of town so " it's better this way". She told a family member/ friend that she was going to work on a film set filming in the evening. There were no films being filmed in Los Angeles that evening. Douglas lied to the police and said he didn't know her despite other extras on a previous film set saying they were inseparable and speaking during all his breaks while filming. He then admitted knowing her. This is what I believe happened: Douglas got her pregnant and offered to pay for the back alley abortion and probably even set it up. I then believe something went wrong and she died. The abortionist not only committed a crime by giving her an abortion but now she was dead too. I believe he probably dismembered her body piece by piece like that Washington post journalist khasshogi by the Saudi royal family. Then I believe he threw her body parts in several different trash cans. No cameras back then and murdering wasn't as common as it is today so no one thought it was suspicious that someone threw away things. No plastic bags then either. The black Dahlia murder was around this time too and she was sliced and cut up by a professional. I wouldn't even doubt it if Douglas had her murdered to silence her. Douglas went on to promote humanitarian endeavors and philanthropic ones too. He got a lot of publicity donating childrens play ground equipment to inner city schools and to Israel I believe he did this for the publicity and at the time I was admiring him for this. I am disgusted.

PS, Choosing a favorite Jackson Browne song is very hard. My first inclination was to say The Pretender, because I think the rhyming of the last few lines is SO GREAT, Are you there? Say a prayer, for the Pretender, who started out so young and strong, only to surrender. I mean, come on. At the same time I really love For a Dancer, Jamaica Say You Will and my son's favorite, Doctor My Eyes. So many great songs.
I'm 54. I ashamed to say that the only song I knew from Jackson Browne was "Lawyers in Love" when they used to play it every 5 minutes on MTV in the early 80's/ But I know his depth was greater than this.
Jackson I love your music 🎶 and wonder about your loss of your wife. I always thought you were Hispanic, but listen to your documentary. I love the videos of you and wife. ❤

Could you please tell me where you got it and where I can find it. They do Take it Easy and discuss David's penchant for wearing mismatching polyester clothes. Can you help me out here?
Jackson wrote the words and music for "Take it Easy", then Glen Frey decides to add a few words and suddenly Glen takes credit for writing it, Nice move, Glen.

The cops & the court concluded he didn't beat her. He possibly shoved her out of the way during a bitter split but there is no proof or charges. She was not easy to get along with & not great to JFK jr. Maybe she has found peace growing old with Neil Young.
If you make such horrible accusations , back them up with documents. Jackson has documents from law enforcement . He asked for an investigation after her uncle ( not her ) made accusations. O K , What is the song ? An ex girlfriend who wrote some disgusting lyrics in a song 20 years later. Talk about carrying a grudge ! Everyone who knows and respects Jackson as I do , knows who I am talking about. If I said her name. .... well .

Listening to him since my 20s I’m 70 now still listening
I first saw him at the Paradox, he was still in high school. He sang 2 sets of new songs, 30 different ones all written by him.
Me too!! The same years. He’s my best friend but he doesn’t know it. 😂♥️
First of his song that I heard was Doctor my Eyes when I was 16 in '71 and I have been hooked ever since.
The whole 'Running on empty' LP, is a masterpiece I still play it from front to back. Oh the memories.

My wife died by suicide. Glossing over this fact does no one any good. It is important to face facts for the grieving process to work.
My wife as well, I avoided talking about it for a while, but it's healthier to speak it. 3 years, still struggling with it.
Prayers lifted for the tremendous loss and healing to both of you gentlemen 🙏🙏🕯️🕯️
Oh my, I am so sorry. I've always been a supporter of suicide prevention. Mental health issues are real.

the visuals are completely disjointed from the narrative....obviously, little care was taken to reflect either the time period. Most of the footage and images are several years passed what's being discussed. I'll give it a C grade.....favorite JB song? LATE FOR THE SKY
I remember when he was dating Daryl Hanna and he was beating her up. Can’t stand him.
I know they dated, but I didn’t know he was abusive.
The cops & the court concluded he didn't beat her. He possibly shoved her out of the way during a bitter split but there is no proof or charges. She was not easy to get along with & not great to JFK jr. Maybe she has found peace growing old with Neil Young.
Very interesting, thanks for sharing this info! What other types of video would you like to see on our channel?

According to a very reliable singer/songwriter. Browne was a wife beater. They wrote a song about it
If you make such horrible accusations , back them up with documents. If I said her name. .... well .
Just another hollow god.

I was always a huge fan til I heard his political views🤮
🤮
Which are?
@@LillyMarz777 Well, he is extremely liberal in every way, but if you disregarded every performer for that reason , you wouldn’t have much to choose from would you ? Talent in the arts is one thing. Politics is another thing. If you can’t separate the two, you for sure will be missing out.
He was very violent with women. Ask Darryl Hanna.

BOYCOTT JACKSON BROWN
Why?
Yes, he sent Daryl Hannah to the ER? He’s an abuser, I remember hearing about his 1st wife’s suicide, no details were ever revealed
WHAT SUICIDE???
May we ask why?
No.
Great music, terrible person.
Jackson Browne is awesome! Nothing horrible about him!
