brought back memories of my playing days in the montreal area in the 90's. at one point i switched over to a cat's eye and within a few months someone who we found out used one of his sticks for street hockey and ground it down a bit, got in my crease and the blade went right into my eye opening and got stuck, slicing me above the eye. also... it got stuck and the idiot started trying to tug it out, nearly gave me whiplash. fun stuff.

I'm in Canada, I've never had any trouble getting cat-eye cages for my masks.

@@diggydumbo9294 Order online. Retailers won't typically carry them in-store because it's against Hockey Canada regs to use them in Hockey Canada games, but there are tons of folks who will sell and ship to Canada.
Fewer folks *in* Canada who make and sell 'em, but you should be able to find them with a bit of googling.
Non-certified cat-eye cages aren't illegal, Hockey Canada just doesn't allow them in their games, so you're OK to import them. If you're playing rec, it's a non-issue 99% of the time.

Bernie Parent (one of the greatest goalies of all time) had his career cut short by a stick in the eye. I would only play with a certified mask, but that's just me.

Tony Esposito. He hit on my mom at a bar once so the joke is that he’s my ‘real’ dad 🤣
Funny thing is, he shares the same birthday as my real real dad (April 23)

I have only used cat eye cages and have never had any problems with them. You can get cat eye cages in Canada. Every league I have played in has allowed them.

I've been playing for 30 years, I know the potential incidents with cat eyes, but I've never seen it happen or know anybody personally that's seen it. That being said, except for my most recent mask, I've never had a problem with the certified straight bar cage.
