More of that good ole fashion southern fried hate. Luda was and is a southern artist who got embraced by NY and ATL immediately started hatin'. Oh, we smell the hate.
The disconnect between the south and the east coast is that the south prioritizes popularity over authenticity. NY don't care about tv shows, movies, grammys, record sales, strip clubs or any of that other bs. NY only respects real hip hop. If you ain't got the bars, then you ain't saying nothin. This is why the East Coast has respect for Ludacris, Andre 3000, etc. Their lyrical game was top notch and hung with the best of em. Yes, the south has definitely produced some of the best ENTERTAINMENT and R&B stars, sold the most pop records (Trap music), but we don't rate based on Industry standards. We rate based on the 5 elements of hip hop. MC'ing, breaking, DJ'ing, Graffiti, and beat box. If you talking about strippers, if you focusing on only catchin a vibe, if you ain't spitting darts, then you really ain't representing hip hop culture.
He didn't play gangster on the mic. His jam with Jeezy was 🔥 but they thought he was trying to be like Jeezy, but he just told the things he did as a youngin and still said he never sold dope. Salute to Luda.
Big Gipp really hate NY like that? The south and west coast hip hop style was undeveloped back in the day. No comparison between Kane, G Rap, KRS, Rakim, De La, EPMD, LL Cool J, Lyte, Latifah etc in 88-94 to other regions at the same time. We couldn’t relate. But we showed love to Ice Cube, Snoop, the DOC and the OutKast, Goodie Mob later on in the mid 90’s
thank you finally somebody has fucking said it that’s older, bro damn music was fucking garbage. I tried to listen to a Ice Cube albums for somebody to sit there and say he was a better storyteller. I’m from Detroit and I agree with everything Gipp said. I’ve alaways had a great deal of respect for Artists from the South. So when i hear niggas from other areas saying they got from the mud, and i respect every grind, no rapper has had as hard as the ones from Atlanta, Mississippi, Texas and all over the South. Niggas from NY could literally get on the Subway and go to Def Jam. Southern artists didn’t have that type of easy access to a major label. They had no choice but to do they thing independently and i mean these guys was selling their tapes from the trunk of their cars and local rappers from Detroit was doing the same thing so thats why I can respect the hustle of southern rappers.
Luda was actually born in the Midwest, Champaign, ILLINOIS to be exact he never sounded like some other southern rappers and that's fine he never tried to be something he wasn't but just a dope lyricist and represented Atlanta well he should be embraced more

Luda, starting off in radio, I think just he recognized the power in collaboration, no matter where the artist came from, that's how he was getting looks from Timbaland in he first album 'Incognegro' . When that started moving units Face came along and signed him and it was on from there. So Luda's rise was quick once 'Jack Rabbit' and 'What's your Fantasy' started bubblin' then he just took off like a rocket. Gipp is speaking on the chip on the shoulder that Atlanta has always had when it comes to Atlanta. New York looks for bars, Atlanta and Miami looks for shit that bumps in the strip club. The West Coast is about what sounds good in the ride. More of that good ole fashion southern fried hate. Luda was and is a southern artist who got embraced by NY and ATL immediately started hatin'. Oh, we smell the hate.
Mmm I don't know what Gipp talking about on this one. Luda always stayed true to himself

But we showed love to Ice Cube, Snoop, the DOC and the OutKast, Goodie Mob later on in the mid 90’s

I see where Gipp is coming from but there are tons of dudes in radio trying to jump in the industry but nobody's giving them a look because they're just 'that radio guy/girl' so I'm sure Luda had that chip on his shoulder, too, when he came in.
