    Hello Kevin!
I was scrolling across the internet looking to replace the standard Cayenne lights for the upgraded matrix ones and the price for them was too dire...
Then, I came across your video and found the perfect solution while saving myself money. I followed your video step by step and everything fitted perfectly.
I would like to say a big thank you!
    Cheers,
    Olly.

It's not clear what LEDs are used for the High Beam. You only have a link for one set of LEDs. What LEDs are for the high beam?

  • @ismaelbonal6537

Thanks for the video. It was helpful for me.
I want to contribute with the following: notes from my personal experience:
    * The basic model (3.6L - 6 Cylinder) seems to only have low beam and high beam lights (no cornering lights) and they are both H7 type.
    * The advanced models (S, GTS, Turbo and Turbo S with 4.8L - 8 cylinders) have in addition to the above cornering lights. Also, their low beam light bulbs are not halogen H7, but rather they are Xenon D1S fixed to a motorized module. So for these types, only the high beam and cornering light bulbs are halogen H7.
    * Finally, many TH-cam videos show the need for adapters. This is because most of them use larger LED bulbs (with back extended fans),which are longer and thicker than the original halogen H7 bulbs and so, they wouldn't fit directly (like in this video). However, there are newer shorter LED bulbs, that don't need any adapters. They have their fans within the upper part of the bulb, and not extended to the back.
For example, "CAR WORK BOX H7 LED Headlight Bulbs w/Fan" from Amazon are of the same size as the halogen H7 bulb (1:1).
I installed them directly on my 2012 Porsche Cayenne S (958) high beam and cornering lights with no adapters and they worked like a charm with no error signals.
For the low beam, I used D1S LED bulbs.

Great job, question for u, is it possible to just purchase the plastic lens hood? My lenses have minor cracking in the clearcoat starting to show and I’d like to just replace the lens hoods instead of replacing the entire headlight assembly. And FYI, PB Blaster is amazing on headlights and nobody seems to know that hack. It creates an incredible gloss on the headlights and also cleans them and protects them.

Man, you REALLY need to state the YEAR of your Cayenne, because I have a Gen 1 (I suspect now yours is a Gen 2) and based on YOUR recommendation on this video, I bought the WRONG BULBS and those stupid little round brackets, all of which I can't return !! @@KevinsEuropeanGarage Actually I just changed my low beams (which were HID Xenon tubes) Works well. I have 2009 Cayenne GTS. I bought the LEDs here: www.amazon.com/dp/B09MLH8YQZ?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1 These work as replacement of low beam projector style original HID Xenon. And they are slightly whiter and brighter than the original Xenons. I only looked into this replacement when Silvania HID Xenon (which I changed a few years ago) went yellow on me. Wound up changing both low beams as there was visible difference in brightness between older HID Xenon and new LEDs. Next - will attempt to change yellowish high beams in my GTS which are H7 Hallogen. I'd like to change the static cornering light as well - but I am not sure if the SECOND decoder box + harness will fit in the assembly cavern. Any thoughts, please?

Did you check the beam Kevin? Often LEDs put out less light & poor cutoff

    • @KevinsEuropeanGarage
      @KevinsEuropeanGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

So I got a chance to do some night driving. The high been is pretty bright better than the halogen bulb. No cut off line. The low beam is brighter than stock. There is a cut off line but it pretty high in your field of vision so I didn’t find it annoying at all .

The bulbs should be fine as ling as it uses the same type. The little adapters I haven’t put them in a 2008. So I don’t know what it needs

@@KevinsEuropeanGarage Hmmmm I remember when I was a lad living at Fort Devens probably a Junior in high School so about 1979 we had a week of well below zero with the wind chill froze our asses off. Then one day it warmed up to about 30 degrees and the sun was out, so we went out on the pond to play hockey "Robins Pond" As it was about 45 degrees warmer than it had been all week, it was only about 30 minutes of skating, and we were all stripped down to shorts and t-shirts playing hockey. So when you say temperature is relative, I really understand that now. Will have to pass on the -3 I'm too much of a desert rat now :)
