I actually started making sketchbooks just cuz watercolor sketchbooks are so pricey and then to recycle old paper I had lying around. I'm hooked now cuz commercial sketchbooks don't have that look, ya know, the look 👌 I just use coptic stitch with chipboard covers. all u need is paper, board, thread and some time. Best part is that they lay completely flat. sea lemon, here on YT has some awesome tutorials. def recommend.
Really love how your sketchbook turned out, can't wait to see what you drew in it! I have made a couple sketchbooks myself, have to admit it's kind of a relaxing process.
I love making sketchbooks / notebooks...I buy cheap sketchbooks at the dollar store and cut them down, and I typically wrap the covers in either canvas or some cute tea towel or pillow case fabric, both also from the dollar store.
I made a sketchbook a few years ago and am stil in the process of sewing together some signatures (aaah, procrastination~), but I found a great help with binding to be Sea Lemon's channel and I think Oliver's Antics and PearFleur both a video or two about home made sketchbooks
Last summer I made a sketchbook (although I still haven't filled it cause yk struggles) and it took me a couple days, mainly cause it was quite big and the binding took forever. I cut out the pages of an old hardback book and used that as the cover, also i covered it with some old curtain material n it looks pretty swaggy ngl. My favourite part about making sketchbooks for sure is the customization mine has loads of pockets and ribbons n stuff lol
Gonna make me act up and make my own sketchbook- This video was really inspiring, i never knew just creating the sketchbook would be this interesting! Also you look really pretty in this video :00
I remember my first homemade sketchbook being something made of Printer paper, old gift wraps and staples,, qwq i used it mainly as a travel sketchbook ah goodtimes
a couple days ago I had the same urge of making a homemade sketchbook again omg 😂 yours turned out super cute!! love the stickers too, they're pretty sus 👀
You should totally check out Matthew Sorgie’s thicc sketchbook that he made. It’s really awesome! You also did a really great job for your first time!!!
I made a sketchbook using a tutorial by: Sea Lemon I heard about it from another artist I subscribed to on here its a different process from the one you showed but it's also a good one! 😊
I liked he video for 2 reasons: 1. I love diy making and I'm almost out of sketchbooks. 2. MY GIRL HAD A BAKUGOU PILLOW AT 6:39 SO OF COURSE I WILL LIKE IT!!!
Heey!! I just discovered your channel and this is the second video I watched after the filling your sketchbook tips. Absolutely loving it! I have tried making a sketchbook my own before. I had an A4 sketchbook (I don’t usually like big sketchbooks) so I cut few paper, folded them, stitched and I had a new sketchbook :D sadly it’s not filled yet even though it’s very few pages. I use a ruler and a cutter to clean the edges, they usually come out cleaner. But you may also need to sand them in some cases. Thanks for the video! Makes me want to make another sketchbook and trying different paper in one :)
This is totally unrelated to the video but youve inspired me to draw more! It’s been really hard for me to draw lately cause I can’t seem to fill my sketchbook and get my characters and people to look the way that I want to but you keep me motivated to keep trying again. Your art is amazing and really does inspire me. So thank you so much for doing what you do. I hope your having an amazing night/day/evening/morning! :)
Awww your sketchbook came out so cute!!!!and Also really neat and organized!!! I made one in 2016? And I still haven't finished it bc its a lil ugly looking and it's toned paper LOL also I made the mistake of issuing so much paper x.x plz send help
It's actually so cool that you can create such beautiful things yourself😳. When I first saw this sketchbook I was sure it was from shop, the quality is really amazing! P. S. The outdoor filming setting is nice :D
I only made one crappy notebook thingy, but I've been thinking about making a sketchbook recently, since I can't really find one that would be 100% perfect
I'm early :D and I have one thing to say: I believe in Tiger supremacy(like one should) And I know for a fact that I'm gonna get inspired by this and then cry cuz it failed
I used a pallet from Artistrove that I got on Amazon for a really long time, I highly recommend cheap little potable pallets like that (especially if you like water brushes). They're really functional!
It's a constant effort 😭 I recommend using some hair color along with your conditioner when you shower, It helps a lot to keep the color fresh :3 If you have dark hair and your roots grow out all brassy, using purple shampoo also helps to even out the color a lot (my roots get s o yellow and it's gross)
@@PricklyAlpaca Omg 🤧🤧 That's gonna help me A LOT Thank U so much 👉👈💟💟💟💟💟💞💞💓💞💓💞 I did not know about the shower thing. Definely gonna try It LOVE UUU Keep Up with your great art :3💞💞
Hey I love watching your videos! But this is more of a non art question tho I’m sorry ;-; I’ve been looking for a good pink hair dye and I was wondering what brand you use? Thanks Prickly for the content! ❤️✨
Thank youu! 💕 Glad you're enjoying it I use the color Frosé from Arctic Fox! It's really good and comes in large bottles so you can keep the color fresh for a while. I highly recommend it but you do have to get your hair pretty light to get it to show up well. I bleach mine to about a level 9 or 10 but my hair is extremely tolerant of bleach.
@@PricklyAlpaca Thank you so much for the tips and advice! I look forward for your videos each week because they really help my art and it’s so good to see you back! Love the sketchbook and can’t wait for the tour when you’re ready

I have questions for ur sketchbooks. I recently finished a I thought to be 70-60lb sketchbook and want to do a sketchbook that the same but bigger online it says 74lb but acts very bad to worpping and lot of colour shadowing. I'm only on my 3rd ish page when I did some tests cause. its annoying to buy a expensive (its 11x14) sketchbook and not be able to use it properly do you know of anything to help other then using a decent acrylic paint to cover this and and extra sheet or two under the page?
😭 yooo I rewatched ur video on how to fill a sketchbook and I’m really really sorry but I pressed a button that took ur like away I’m so sorry I don’t know how to fix it Other than that thank u for making videos and loving ur pink hair ( and ur kitty cat)
I used to to that and it's totally fine! Especially if your products bleed through the pages. I used to do it and the only reason I draw on both pages now is bc I like doing two page spreads and whatnot :3
Kira: ...the sketchbook is probably gonna be full because there are only like 24 pages Me: ....It's taken me several months to fill 10 pages in a 200 page A 3 sketchbook Also me: *surprised pikachu face*

I like the result ❣actually all of my sketchbooks are homemade 😚
I used to make sketchbooks myself at the beginning. I used thicker printer paper and used wood glue to keep the pages together.
Oh that turned out pretty nifty! Can't wait to see what's inside!
