2024 A Sensory Superpower As it turns out, getting chills from music is not as common as you might think. Researchers from USC released a study that suggests that only about 50 percent of people feel things like shivers, a lump in their throat, and goosebumps when they listen to music. What's more, those people might have very different brains than those who don't experience those feelings. First, they gathered 20 people and had them listen to a selection of their favorite songs. Whenever they felt a chill, they pressed a button. All 20 were then given MRI scans - and the 10 that reported reactions were obvious standouts. Their brains turned out to have a much higher volume of fibers connecting their auditory cortex to the areas that process emotion. More fibers mean that those two areas of the brain can communicate much more effectively. It also means that, because their emotional processing centers are beefier, those people are more able to experience extreme emotions. A Feeling of Frisson This study might shed a light on the causes of the phenomenon, but it's been well documented for years. Actually, it even has a name. The phenomenon of chills or goosebumps that come from a piece of music (or from any other aesthetic experience) is called frisson, and it's been one of the big mysteries of human nature since it was first described. That's because even if we know the actual mechanism that causes frisson - a close connection to the emotional processing center - we don't know what purpose it could serve us. But other studies have suggested some potential benefits of this kind of behavior. One report from 2007 found that individuals who experience frisson are more open to new experiences than others, and other studies described higher levels of creativity and intellectual curiosity. In other words, the appreciation of beauty is central to what makes us human, and frisson is just a super-charged version of that appreciation.
@@Doctor-Stoppage100 percent. I was a teen when I realized music has the ability to do this. At times I feel euphoric and high listening to music. It’s like the rest of the world pauses. Everything slows down. Just you and the music. An intense yet calm feeling throughout your whole body. It’s hard to describe unless you’ve experienced it.
I was born in 2001 so I was able to grow up with songs like this, but it's amazing how in such a relatively small snippet of time, you can forget just how much songs of the 2000's were just raw fun. I didn't think I'd find myself back so soon, but it feels like opening a time capsule of sorts and all the energy is still there
I distinctly remember this song for the fact that I was 29 and had this awesome guy's trip to Vegas. Walking into the club after UFC 91 for a night of fun and partying while this song was blasting over the speakers, felt like a movie... good times man. 10 Years went by pretty quick
IVE BEEN SEARCHING EVERYWHERE FOR THIS SONG. i remember the beat but i couldn’t remember the lyrics. as soon i remembered “let it rock let it rock let it rock” i instantly typed it in and remembered all the lyrics I HAVENT HEARD THIS SONG IN 10 YEARS OH MY GOD
I did the same thing. Woke up with this song in my head after 10 years of not listening to it. Tried to find it everywhere, thought it was Will I Am. I finally remembered enough to google "cause when I I can make it rain come alive" and half those words aren't even right hahaha. And by the way, this song goes great into "Power" by Will I am in a playlist
Bro, all I could remember was the falsetto part and the "let it rock, let it rock" part, I had to do some serious CSI computer reconstruction in my brain to get here and holy shit was the end result cathartic
I keep finding comments from 10 years ago saying "I missed this song" I think to myself that they missed it when it was only 5-6 years old, do they miss it 16 years later?
I remember exactly where I was when I first heard this. I was standing at a platform waiting for my train to come during one of the loneliest, crappiest years of my life. High school was over, all my close friends were gone, and I was completely alone. This song came on through the radio on my mp3 player, and those lyrics just started speaking to me. It's crazy how music is like a time machine. All those feelings from years ago come rushing back, and you try to keep yourself from getting emotional. This is one of those songs.
I have a similar story, my girlfriend, after about five years being together, broke up with me, my friends hated me for dating her so no one talked me, my family was split up and didn't talk to each other. I was in the car and this song came on and at first I thought, "oh great, another shitty Lil Wayne song", but then I listened to it and it became the song that saved me from depression. Every time i get upset, I listen to this song and I instantly forget everything bad that is happening.
Harry B Actually, I'm talking about a Kevin Rudolf song, or maybe you missed the video title that clearly says Kevin Rudolf. Wayne was just a feature. Furthermore, I was just sharing my thoughts like everyone else here did, yourself included. To you, it's just a "lil wayne" song. To me, it's a song that takes me back me a certain period in my life. That's not a crime. Thanks for your input though, chief.
Late 2000s and Early 2010s music will forever hold a special place in my heart, generational run for music, and also this was the theme of the 2009 Royal Rumble 🔥🔥
Never let this song die, if you're older than 21. LET IT ROCK!!!!!! Edit: I never thought this comment would get so much love☺ thank you guys and as always.... LET IT ROCK!!!
Nate Borchert No, I do, I just hate people being like "2006-2012 was the last era for good music, then it went downhill, all music now is horrible, bla bla bla"
In my opinion, mainstream music was pretty good up until 2006, but then cyclone came out followed by Apple bottom jeans. After that there was just the worst most materialistic music coming out every week until around 2010 when genuine music from the heart started to make a comeback. I was in high school during those 4 years and the dances were just terrible until they started playing dubstep in 2009
yeah it was a hell of a year, especially since the Stock Market crashed that year and so many people lost their jobs and homes, and the financial crisis was going on, it was the year we all thought the world was gonna come to an end haha 😅😄😏, it was a tough time for lots of people, i'd rather have been in 2008 though than 2020, both years were bad though overall, I miss 2008 though our country was better back then wish I could go back 😓😞, especially since we weren't so divided like today 🙁, it was an awesome year though with the Beijing opening ceremony that year and some movies, no other country can top Beijing's opening ceremony from that year PERIOD 👍🏻!!! I was going into my last year of elementary school that year btw 😬😳, when the stock market crashed, can't believe it, now I turn 26 next month 😲😱, where's the time gone???!!! 2008 was sorta a bit like the great depression a bit haha
Kevin deserves more success. He really has amazing music, and I'm in love with the style. The baggy clothes, the posture, the sometimes wearing sunglasses....he exemplifies what I wish I could look like.
@@shadowzach00 yeah he hasn’t released an album since 2010’s To The Sky but he releases singles every once in a while. Most of his newer stuff is a bit more chill rock rather then his explosive older stuff but a lot of it is still really good in my opinion.
A majority of the YMCMB family fell off hard. Drake, Nicki and Tyga were the only ones who made it (ironic considering Kevin Rudolf and Jay Sean did a song called I Made It in 2010).
Remember getting my license and this song being one of my go to's for my friends and I to put on when we'd leave campus for lunch. It still hits just like it used to.
I miss music on the radio like this, to be honest. It was all something most people could relate to on common basis because it combined a lot of genres to make a really smooth sound. Anyone that liked rock, pop, rap, hip-hop, etc. could definitely enjoy this song just because it seamlessly mixed these genres. As a rock/metal lover, it really made me feel connected to people when I could enjoy music like this with other people. Now it doesn't feel like rock elements are used in mainstream music at all anymore. I've kinda stopped being able to relate to other people and their likeness for music on the radio.
Like Wayne was living a lie that sheit was all good between him and Birdman when us real mofos knew the reason Wayne was president of Young Money was because he was the only one who hadn't been screwed over by Baby & Slim at that point in time like Cash Money's original crew? Jp lol
Damn I wish I was older so I could appreciate this song more. I was like 6 or 7 when this song dropped. Why can't the radio play songs like this anymore?

As it turns out, getting chills from music is not as common as you might think.
I just rediscovered this song after not hearing it for about 8 years and this brought back so much nostalgia
And somehow remember 80% of the lyrics 🤣
Try 15 years lol
Same! Like 2 seconds ago
Same
@@ashleytchannel5403 i love when that happens hahaha
I was born in 2001 so I was able to grow up with songs like this, but it's amazing how in such a relatively small snippet of time, you can forget just how much songs of the 2000's were just raw fun. I didn't think I'd find myself back so soon, but it feels like opening a time capsule of sorts and all the energy is still there
Same! I was born in 01 was spamming this on music choice 09. Wayne at his best!
This song reminds me of me being a kid watching WWE
I still watch wwe. 18 now, was only 8 when this song dropped.

I distinctly remember this song for the fact that I was 29 and had this awesome guy's trip to Vegas. Walking into the club after UFC 91 for a night of fun and partying while this song was blasting over the speakers, felt like a movie... good times man. 10 Years went by pretty quick
Will Anderson wow you old old now
Sounds awsome bro....times does fly way too fast
An all time fav. Still pumps me up in 2024.
IVE BEEN SEARCHING EVERYWHERE FOR THIS SONG. i remember the beat but i couldn’t remember the lyrics. as soon i remembered “let it rock let it rock let it rock” i instantly typed it in and remembered all the lyrics I HAVENT HEARD THIS SONG IN 10 YEARS OH MY GOD
trash bag hahaha 😂
trash bag kids these days
I did the same thing. Woke up with this song in my head after 10 years of not listening to it. Tried to find it everywhere, thought it was Will I Am. I finally remembered enough to google "cause when I I can make it rain come alive" and half those words aren't even right hahaha. And by the way, this song goes great into "Power" by Will I am in a playlist
I knew it was by "kevin somebody....." just couldn't figure it out.
this has one of the easiest lyrics how did you not remember it
Doesn’t matter how old it is still fire
It's even older now. Crazy that when you made the comment the song was like 9 years old
I must be in the "childhood memories videos" part of TH-cam again
Yup
Same. What a crazy time it has been.
so right i remeber those days
Ray Hinchliffe i put this is my nostalgia album
You right once you click on one of them they all just show up for you
I was 20 years old when this hit the clubs. It takes me back!!!!

not in the club nor party that i remembered. my local radio station only played this song for only 2 months then pulled it off the air.
I dunno, I remember hearing a lot of "I'm On A Boat".... but maybe that's just the clubs I went to :D
I suddenly started singing this song in my head, despite not having heard it in years
Nice bro. His songs def had wwe vibes going on in them.
David Tristan I got Halo Reach vibes no clue why I’ve never been much of a Halo fan
PuRe Party omg me too and I couldn’t figure out the name until late last night #hereinsouthafrica #gladidid #letitrock
Bro, all I could remember was the falsetto part and the "let it rock, let it rock" part, I had to do some serious CSI computer reconstruction in my brain to get here and holy shit was the end result cathartic
I knew all the lyrics after 10 years 🤪. Crank it hahahaha.
Here from the future... 2024 still letting it rock!
I keep finding comments from 10 years ago saying "I missed this song" I think to myself that they missed it when it was only 5-6 years old, do they miss it 16 years later?
@notingh3re it's being rediscovered and most people think its a new song lol

OG song!!! These kids would never know this masterpiece
They'd rather listen to this shit music made today. Consider this song on my favorites list. Even though I'm a classic rock fan.
I was raised on old music but then again I'm a 90s baby
Sad to think of
I was born in 2010 and this is cool
I’m 15 and I love this song!
Stay strong bro JEHOVAH GOD & JESUS CHRIST have a plan for your life & happiness to be fulfilled on Earth as well as in Heaven :)
Every time i get upset, I listen to this song and I instantly forget everything bad that is happening.
me to
lmao. one of the lamest things i've ever read. you're talking about a lil wayne song ffs XD calm down
Harry B Actually, I'm talking about a Kevin Rudolf song, or maybe you missed the video title that clearly says Kevin Rudolf. Wayne was just a feature. Furthermore, I was just sharing my thoughts like everyone else here did, yourself included. To you, it's just a "lil wayne" song. To me, it's a song that takes me back me a certain period in my life. That's not a crime. Thanks for your input though, chief.
5 am in 2024 still jammin to this on way to work !!

Ganmy bad
Late 2000s and Early 2010s music will forever hold a special place in my heart, generational run for music, and also this was the theme of the 2009 Royal Rumble 🔥🔥
Man I rocked this back in the day😂😂 what even happened to Kevin Rudolf?

2009 was the best year for music
Nate Borchert Oh great, not another one of these comments.
Toasty Pro u not like 2009 for music
Nate Borchert No, I do, I just hate people being like "2006-2012 was the last era for good music, then it went downhill, all music now is horrible, bla bla bla"
In my opinion, mainstream music was pretty good up until 2006, but then cyclone came out followed by Apple bottom jeans. After that there was just the worst most materialistic music coming out every week until around 2010 when genuine music from the heart started to make a comeback. I was in high school during those 4 years and the dances were just terrible until they started playing dubstep in 2009
Go Gators
Keeping it on repeat. 2008 was a hell of a year....
Year I graduated high school, feels like yesterday sometimes
Yeah DaScHoolboyz
That was the year!
2009 was even better, and one fine year (for me at least)! I never thought that would be considered to be the "good old days" until now too! L.O.L.!
yeah it was a hell of a year, especially since the Stock Market crashed that year and so many people lost their jobs and homes, and the financial crisis was going on, it was the year we all thought the world was gonna come to an end haha 😅😄😏, it was a tough time for lots of people, i'd rather have been in 2008 though than 2020, both years were bad though overall, I miss 2008 though our country was better back then wish I could go back 😓😞, especially since we weren't so divided like today 🙁, it was an awesome year though with the Beijing opening ceremony that year and some movies, no other country can top Beijing's opening ceremony from that year PERIOD 👍🏻!!! I was going into my last year of elementary school that year btw 😬😳, when the stock market crashed, can't believe it, now I turn 26 next month 😲😱, where's the time gone???!!! 2008 was sorta a bit like the great depression a bit haha
Kevin has a badass voice. 2024 since release
Friggin half of 2018 passed and here I am listening to music from 2009
Lee Dickinson well music is surely getting worse now days
Emily Eileen That’s not weird at all. People, including me listen to music from the 60s-90s
From here and earlier was where real, good music was made... 1960s-2008 or 2009ish
@OrrvilleOSUfan I'm 15 and I listen to Jimi Hendrix soooo... 1960-2009 is my territory. Although I do listen to a lot of K.A.A.N....
Ce L'hai Fatta Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders :-)
Kevin deserves more success. He really has amazing music, and I'm in love with the style. The baggy clothes, the posture, the sometimes wearing sunglasses....he exemplifies what I wish I could look like.
does he still make music I haven't heard anything from him in a while
You can!! ❤💯😎
@@shadowzach00 yeah he hasn’t released an album since 2010’s To The Sky but he releases singles every once in a while. Most of his newer stuff is a bit more chill rock rather then his explosive older stuff but a lot of it is still really good in my opinion.
This is literally the gayest thing I have ever read
A majority of the YMCMB family fell off hard. Drake, Nicki and Tyga were the only ones who made it (ironic considering Kevin Rudolf and Jay Sean did a song called I Made It in 2010).
2024 and its still the best song

I know what you're saying... wish artists from different genres made songs together, it would be interesting
True lad
I like it
there's more funk elements now
Brocktimus Prime you should listen to XXXTentacion he's a rapper but he uses metal in most his songs he's sick and he's getting really famous

Ah, back when pop used to be dope AF
"...so you pray to God to justify the way you live a lie..." -How many heads has that line gone over?

Like Wayne was living a lie that sheit was all good between him and Birdman when us real mofos knew the reason Wayne was president of Young Money was because he was the only one who hadn't been screwed over by Baby & Slim at that point in time like Cash Money's original crew? Jp lol

Damn I wish I was older so I could appreciate this song more. I was like 6 or 7 when this song dropped. Why can't the radio play songs like this anymore?
Music on the radio peaked between 2008-2011 tbh
I heard it in a restaurant in April 2016 😁
This is the worst piece of shit song ever, trust me it's only your nostalgia for childhood. As someone who was in high school during this, you would have hated it
