    Happy you came to Heaven On Earth, Cloudcroft, and enjoyed the beautiful hiking trails. IMO Black Bear Coffee Shop has the best coffee in the village. You did a great job explaining the train history. Good video of my heaven on earth area. Looking forward to seeing where else you explored. Safe travels.

      Thanks so much! You are the one who put Cloudcroft on our radar and we were thrilled! If you ever make it to Durango, let us know! We have many suggestions of what to see! Maybe we could even meet up for a meal or something? Caio for now.

      Gosh! We're glad we popped up too! We loved our visit to Cloud Croft!
      Hope you join us on our current travels to the NW where we've been filming the Oregon Coast - mist, fog, seals and sea lions, even a coyote strolling the beach.
      Thanks for watching!

    Nice video. A couple of our favorite places. White Sands & Cloudcroft. A few years ago, we spent most of the summer camped high in the National Forest at close to 9,000 feet. Boon-docking. Several times we woke up to a herd of elk surrounding our little camper. And the humming birds are wonderful.
    We visit Cloudcroft often - only live about 2 hours away.

    Your video just popped up in my feed and I watched because I live in the area. I'm embarrassed to admit I've never walked that Rails to Trails switchback trail, and now i know that crossing over 82 is part of it. Many years I've wondered what that went to 😆
    Thanks for showing a local something new! Always good to get fresh eyes 😊
    Hope you all caught one of our spectacular sunsets while you were here!

    Good video, but why did you revert to only photos and not video? Use your iPhone video camera if you don’t have a GoPro handy.

    • @ClarityOffGrid
      @ClarityOffGrid  หลายเดือนก่อน

      We explained this at 1:31 in the video.
      Basically, we can't film in a National Park without a permit (which is very expensive and prohibitive to acquire as a small channel.)
      It IS legal to take photographs and place them in a video - go figure.
      It takes much more effort to take and edit enough photos to tell the same story we could tell with video. That's the game right now. If you want to learn more about this, you can check out a video where we go into details about this: th-cam.com/video/AcmVI8ahmDs/w-d-xo.html
      Thanks for watching and taking the time to ask.

    Thanks for sharing the the community of Cloudcroft with your views. It looks like a wonderful area to check out. Where did you camp?

    • @ClarityOffGrid
      @ClarityOffGrid  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Sandra. Thank you for watching! We camped in some dispersed forest service land. Just past the Deer Head Campground south of town make a left up the paved road then turn right on the first forest service unpaved road past the group campsite about 1/4 mile. Up that road a ways is a less established FS road that goes off to the left. We went up there and found many dispersed sites. Not too busy but there were campers in some of the sites. The Deer Head FS Campground opened for the season while we were there. Not sure how busy it gets but also looked good for those not comfortable driving up the FS roads. We had no trouble in our FWD van with no 4x4. Have a great time if you decide to go there. We checked in at one of the sites on IOverlander if you have the app.

    Curious, why can't you video in the park?

    • @ClarityOffGrid
      @ClarityOffGrid  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question. Current law doesn't allow any filming in the National Parks without a permit (which is nearly impossible to get for small creator) for anyone who may make any money from it or post it on any platform that may money from it. Several TH-cam channels have been fined $1000's for filming using the same equipment used by any park visitor, ie phones, typical hand held cameras, and a tripod. If you want to learn more about this you can check out this video by TH-camr Deven Jovey at

    Hi guys, great video! Me and my husband actually have a cute cottage/cabin there in the Village, we have been going there since our childhood as we grew up about an hour and a half away and also my husband was the Navy recruiter in Alamo for a couple of years in the 90's. This will be our retirement place in a couple of years, for now we go there about four to five times a year and more if possible. Mountain magic is my favorite little store, also love the tea shop and the Burro St Bakery has my favorite pies anywhere! Don't forget Mad Jacks BBQ, best Texas BBQ anywhere! The Brewery is excellent as well and yes the best part are the people! Safe travels.

    a great to start my day with such a nice video. i left wdc in 1995 for santa fe, nm, which, back then, was a 180 (more like cloud croft) from what it became (is now). i think it could be said that cloud croft is isolated enough to maintain it's special nm brand of aloha :) so very good to see/feel - exactly what made me fall in love with nm back in the 90s. ty.

    I have seen other videos about videos In National Parks and it appears that because of a law suit it is ok to film in NPS. Liked the still shots but check about being able to take videos in National Parks!

    • @ClarityOffGrid

      Thanks for your interest in filming in NP. Sadly, the pendulum swung back the other way this fall. If you are interested in the situation, I have some links to videos in the description. There is legislation proposed that would include allowing creators to film on public lands, so we'll keep you posted if the situation changes.

      Good question. We have visited NPs since we were kids, but they have become really crowded in the last few years.
