Actually, AI could applied by an external app which grabs the screen and controls the mouseclick. The learning time of the AI would take much more time though, as every generations have to play the game with displayed UI.
I mean the inputs are current pos & distance, changing speed doesn't change that the AI will say 'drop' when distance is 0. It was just trained to drop when its told the blocks are exactly on top of each other. A simple 'if distance == 0: dropblock()' accomplishes the same as the AI does.
Oh Jesus almighty, you're saying that in effect he's created an AI who's form of breathing is playing this game? and if they lose they pretty much die? Roko's Basilisk do be going crazy.
To improve viewability for individuals with epilepsy I would recommend adding a filter over the timelapse to make the scene darker and to include a warning at the beginning of the video.

@@JeMC47 Yup, not surprising it converged to a solution almost immediately. What would make it more interesting as well would be to make the inputs frames of the game so it has learn to interpret what its seeing, as well as some randomness to the speed

Yes, people with epilepsy should read video descriptions, but people are people and it's just good practice to assume they're not gonna be as careful as they should be.
