Veterans are exempt from paying the permit fee but for those people who do pay a fee, it varies from county to county as well as the amount you are allowed to earn. If you are a veteran fill out the veteran exemption form, you will need a copy of your DD214 and you are all set. MY county realized their mistake and returned the fees they charged me. The only thing you pay for are things that involve labor like label approval.
If I use store bought fondant and sprinkles, do I need to add that to my food list under Frosting/Candy category? Or the list only pertains to the food list I’m going to make from scratch?
Hello. I have a store front antique/boutique shop here in California. A little piggly wiggly… I want to add coffee and pastry? I have a retail license and I called the city… They said I would have to apply for coffee resale with the city
Yes if your using a retail location that normally does not sell food items and you want to resell anything to be consumed by someone it would then need additional permitting and possibly inspecting. this may help I just released it: GET YOUR COPY OF MY NEW "CALIFORNIA COTTAGE FOOD BUSINESS BOOK" www.amazon.com/dp/B0CSRQ1QTX
I live in southern California. Are Cinnamon rolls/buns permitted to be sold under cottage food law? The buns/rolls are NOT filled with cream. The cream/frosting is on top.
Thanks for this video. But what is the alternative or workaround permit or license if you're making something that is prohibited? Can we get a food handler's permit and then use a commercial kitchen? What are the specific steps to be able to make acidic/perishable items?
Hey I got one good question. So I live in Georgia. If I buy a food truck and remove the wheels, can I get away making it as a food cottage? Please answer’ I am seller and I need someone professional to answer.
One thing I know is YES it could be and here's why I say "could" the USDA would need to inspect it as a "separate kitchen" seperate kitchens are allowed as long as they are not part of the "home" kitchen call your local cities USDA branch office and ask them explain it is separate , BUT this would not be a cottage food operation you would get a permit from them.
Does anyone know can you buy premade ice cream from the store and make your own cookies for ice cream sandwiches and sell them? If they are stored on blocks of dry ice
I want to make my own hot sauce in California . I also want to use my own organic veggies/ ingredients. Can I use my own ingredients? Or will I need inspection of grow. Also since hot sauce isn’t able to be made at home can I get the cottage permit and use my house address but then use a commercial kitchen to make my hot sauce and send it to Amazon fba?
no any food item must be made at the home of business cant bring a product back home for distribution this may help I just released it: GET YOUR COPY OF MY NEW "CALIFORNIA COTTAGE FOOD BUSINESS BOOK" www.amazon.com/dp/B0CSRQ1QTX
So I’ve inquired about the food list and their labels that I need to submit for the license application. I was told that I’ll need to provide ingredients on all of the foods in my list and one label per food. It somewhat discourages me from starting a bigger food list if I have to prepare all that. Has anyone here done this before or came across this topic? Any thoughts?
using meat protein and such would fall outside the realm of cottage food law even with a cottage b permit you would need to turn part of your house into a sperate kitchen and or commercial kitchen rental NOW there is a restaurant law on the books for counties and cities who adopt it you can make food of all kind
cake is allowed in almost every state actually BUT the frosting cant be a time or temp sensitive like cream cheese or other which would need refrigeration.

Drinks or beverages need a commercial kitchen to produce even with a class b license
So, if I buy a mini fridge to keep foods that has cheese feeling is not permitted at all?

I want to get my sauce going. It's the new flavor I just don't know how to do stuff like this, some advice would be great
