The stretching room is a well disguised elevator that takes you down to a lower level. There's no dropping sensation.

Cool video. You can finally see the scrim and mannequin at the top of the elevator ceiling, the night vision cameras, Madam Leota's levitation trick, the glass window pane in the ballroom scene, and the massive scrims in the graveyard scene. Great job.
Glad you enjoyed it. The Haunted Mansion is such a great and unique attraction. There's nothing else like it!

That got to be one brightest night vision ever I have ever since on TH-cam! It good that we get to see all the details as if the maintenance lights were on. But, it kind of spoil the Disney Magics. Pretty Impressive though, but I do have to say natural lightning is the way to go.
This is cool, I finally got to see the true ride. I always wondered what was hiding in all that clutter, I could never put it all together because it's so dark and too many object, which makes it more freaky & mysterious. Nice to finally see...
So THAT's how they make Leota float! ha ha! Great video! Lots of the tricks revealed if you know where to look.
This night-vision is really amazing! I agree w/ everyone else who likes THIS better than the green-vision. In a nutshell, I'm on their level!
The IR camera sees right through the dark. I love it since it allows you to see how things are done. I never realized how many scrims are used in the graveyard.

Me too. I HATE the holiday mansion, with the Jack Skellington stuff in it. I don't mind the movie, "A Nightmare Before Christmas", I just wish they didn't screw up my favorite ride.
It was night vision so there was no light on my camera. I wouldn't want to bring a light into the attraction.
It may ruin the experience for the riders next to me and I know how special Disneyland so I want to respect their experiences and not hinder it.

The Stretching Room is an elevator in Disneyland. They made this an elevator because the haunted mansions actual ride building is out side the train tracks, that why you go under neath and walk through the moving picture frames.
In Disney World the Stretching Room actually stretches, there is no elevator

The night vision is fantastic as you can see all the full effects but the draw back is that you can see Madam Leota is on about 50 strings !
holy crap! starting at 8:07, it seriously looks like wheel tracks on the ground. could that have something to do with the fact that during the movie, the man and kids rode that ghost horse-drawn carriage?!
I just have a small handheld camera that works well in the dark. It has a small sensor that helps in low light which gives the video (at times) the look of a flashlight.

4:12 Holy smokes! Right there is a photo of the Hatbox Ghost! I wonder how long that was there. So, i guess in a way he never really left.
InvaderPet Yeah that painting has been there since the ride opened August of 1969. It only took them 46 years to actually bring him back into the ride but yeah you're right he never really truly left the mansion. :)
Marrythenightgaga101 I'm kinda surprised they never considered doing some kind of optical illusion painting with the Hatbox Ghost, like those cards they use to sell, where the image would change depending on what angle you were holding it. Then again, that may have required a certain amount of lighting.
In any case, I'm just glad Ol Hattie is back.

Does the ride drop at all in the Stretching Room? If so, what part?
The last time I remember going on this ride was when I was eight (which was my first time). And of course, everything is magnified.
So, I just gotta ask (I hate drops in the dark lol).

I don't mean to sound mean but why is it every time I look up this ride without specifying the park, I 'end up' with Disneyland?! in my opinion, Walt Disney World is a lot better!

It was supposed to be Funny. But in the late-60s into 90s the Haunted Mansion was scary back then.
I think it's scarier when you've never been before, because you don't know what to expect. This "night-vision" recording reveals everything, so it's like "whatever."
