Problem with the Plastic road is. Micro Plastic really, being thrown around from the roadway. Now for stuff like Sidewalks, maybe even indoor flooring might be a better idea though.

From what I have heard they are quite prone to failure if not maintained well. Debris collect in the space where they spikes go down over time. When they get full the spikes don't go all the way down, which leads to them puncturing tires of cars going the right way. That was at least what happened when they tested them in my country at least.

I already see one major flaw with "Plastic roads". Especially with associating it with electric cars. What's the biggest thing about traveling on roads to watch out for? Car accidents. What is something that happens often with accidents? Fires. Which kinds of vehicles produce the hottest flames and are the absolute most difficult to extinguish? Electric vehicles. With plastic roads, you won't be able to simply pull the wreckage out of the road and allow traffic to drive past it. You're going to have to get new pieces of roadway to replace the slagged mess left behind after every single flaming accident.

    • @vlratcliffe1
      @vlratcliffe1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Well said. Here in the UK out of all the fire engines 99.9 are water filed only a very very small percentage of fire stations have the chemical extinguishers for electric cars fires . .I will never buy an electric car until 100% fire engines have this chemical
Yet the UK has a very high rain fall if you in an electrical car and the batteies are on fire even tho they have the chemical to put out the fire if it's raining the car will keep burning. As the batteies only need a drop of water and boom up in flames . No matter how much protection they be covered in in an accident one drop water boom BBQ time

I can foresee another potential problem. In areas it snows, will they be able to hold up to the punishment roads take from plows? They said they can be heated, but in a heavy and fast snowfall they may struggle to melt the snow in time, thus needing to be plowed.

As a trucker I'm confused about the net.... It costs money to manufacture, over here runaway tractors are given "ramps" doesn't matter if said ramp is flat, what slows the truck down is the soft dirt that the ramp is made of, trucks sink like a stone and the entirety of the bottom of the tractors surface area becomes the braking mechanism. It's proven time and again to be VERY effective in the mountains stopping tractors that weigh over 80,000 lbs going over 100+ mph (due to brake failures). I'm sorry but nothing I can think of is cheaper than dirt. So your fancy fence doesn't make sense it would have to be repaired after each use, your need to hire safety inspectors. Dirt ramp gets used? Grab a front loader and level the dirt again your good to go. Lower maintenance costs(its dirt) parts would be easier to order (dirt) I'm just saying that invention is absolutely not needed.

That phone one is a huge danger for multiple reasons to us that know anything on security and privacy.
How would it connect to the phone? WiFi or Bluetooth? Either way it would be a battery drain, a security issue and a tracking issue.
Don't say governments won't use those last two gleefully while tying to use it to monitor what you are doing in your phone.
So many issues.... It had to be thought up by someone that doesn't care for all those things or by someone who did and wants that.
Hell it could be used just like a Cpvod tracker but worse. All those abuse we have seen with those? Yeah, same with this.

Scientists are working on a speed bump that has a non newtonian fluid filling the inside, the fluid changes to a solid when it comes into contact with a fast object, but changes to liquid on a slow object. This is much cheaper and easier to install than the automatic speed bump.

How about dealing with the rude , law breaking Cyclists? How about charges for the negligent pedestrians that cause accidents because they're "distracted " and careless. Pedestrians with their heads in their phones need to learn to pay attention. There doesn't need to be more technology for the negligent. We need to stop interfering with the natural selection process. We talk about saving nature and then continuously interfere with it. Sweden is banning the use of electric cars this winter as the grid can't support charging them, so that electric rail is dead in its tracks. Solar panels on the roads, great until it snows or heavy vehicles destroy them. Plastic roads. Great idea until heavy vehicles break them. The road reflecters will be ripped up from the first snowplow. All nice ideas, but most of them aren't needed, can't be supported or just add a new maintenence problem.

    • @ThorXed

Plastic roads are garbage. They chip and thus send pieces of plastic everywhere along the road, the 'recyclability' of plastic doesn't work when it's contaminated with road particulates (The temperature to melt out the gunk is high enough to burn the plastic), they lose traction as they wear out (VERY dangerous), they can't handle thermal expansion/contraction remotely as well as asphalt, and 98% of aslphalt is recycled already because all you have to do is heat it up and pour it again.

Induction charging. You know how a phone uses a wireless charging pad? Same thing but on a larger scale for cars. It allows for charging the car without directly connecting to contact points. Coils of charged wires under the road induce a electric current in a coil in the car, this current charges the car. No exposed electricity animals to come in contact with. One possible issue could be people with metal implants or pacemakers. One solution could be to have a sensor see where each car is and only energize the coils directly under the car as it travels down the road.

Building roads out of plastic may sound like a good idea or way to recycle plastic, but considering how many roads criss cross the world,, building roads out of plastic only encourages drilling for oil, as plastic like asphalt come from oil, and we need to get rid of both, as far as I’m concern, although if we can start recycling asphalt and used plastic products, without drilling for oil, now that a good star, beside oil is finite like all resources, and those countries that solely depend on fossil fuels like mideastern countries, need to change, their source of wealth like every the logging industry need to change, we can’t keep deforesting old growth forests, jungles or the Amazon or any other forest around the world for hard wood or to plant palm trees for palm oil or some other commercial tree…anyways, many of these solutions like road bumps, runaway vehicles etc, should costly, like something one would only have in some private wealthy community to control or catch intruders, trying to escape, after committing some crime, but the best idea, in my opinion are safe bicycle lanes and replacing asphalt or concrete with solar panel’s…but no doubt these ideas would work best in a small country…

May be better, given a fine by the city or a reimbursement to the city if someone is found off track and save by these devices OR, by law, not being eligible by own insurance if got caught with that behavior when involve in a accident/incident nor allow free treatment at hospital in the future for nything related to that accident/incident.
