It’s not sad, it’s just the way things are. The world Harry, Ruth, Peter and Jennifer created had already passed away when the series was made. I feel honoured and happy to have seen that world brought to life in such a captivating way.
Nothing lasts forever, and the things that last the longest are the things we cherish in our memories.

The many happy hours I’ve spent watching this program, I wish they would preserve it authentically, but at least we still have it

It's great to see this, thank you. It's been emotional to watch though, seeing it so unloved and the lovely historic greenhouses gone. I visited there in the early 2000's but only looked in from the roads as I didn't know if they wanted you trespassing or not, so I only saw what I could and that didn't include the end part of the walled garden where Harry did most of the work. I have all the programmes on DVD to watch whenever I like, so that's something I suppose.

Thank you for this. But it saddens me that all the glass houses are gone. How many of the old species cared for by Harry Dodson are now gone forever?

Exactly...nothing last forever....my wife was a little upset the other day....realizing that one day all her and my work on our farm will be gone....like the people who came from Wales around 125 years ago and settle here...and all the barns and house are gone....how the old railway that when through the back of the farm is also gone and how their name will be forgotten...it's to bad but I use the saying only the rocks live forever....( from an old movie)

How sad. With that haunting music I can envision a video with before and current pics of the same areas.

Those greenhouses should have had a prediction order slapped on them !

The garden seems sad and lonely. Maybe Harry's spirit occasionally lingers.

Just found this, remember the series well, heart breaking to see the inside abandoned and glass houses gone and the outside tarmacked and bollards, not Victorian at all, don't know what Harry would have thought, not a lot probably.

There again he may be delighted to see it still standing, beds still productive and thank god someone's fixed the path and put some bollards up to stop cars kitting the brickwork! Those beds might have to change from flowers to food production again though.

It’s actually quite horrifying what’s happened with tarmac everywhere and the old buildings which look rather ‘over restored’. Although I can imagine this is what would have happened eventually, as even when the tv series was in production in the 1980s, half of the site you didn’t see on screen was let out to different businesses.

So sad to see it like this after such a historical bbc series and famous as such it should have been preserved and made into a visitor center by the lottery fund so very sad !

Wonderful series - all that effort and money spent restoring those gardens, now all gone to waste. I know from experience how much maintenance is required on a Victorian glasshouse, but surely they could have made the effort and spent the money to keep them? When they got rid of the glasshouses they ripped the heart out of the garden - vandalism and meaness combined.

A pressure washer would not be a good idea. Blasting old bricks and lichen? Destroys the charm.
