The two witnesses are “types” of Christ. Their ministry, death, resurrection, and ascension all mirror His. When there was an earthquake at the cross the Centurions said Laurent this was the Son of God (gave glory to God). With the two witnesses it’s the 7,000. It’s all exactly the same.
I think if you look at the two witnesses as only two of the 144,000 new Apostles who will be sent to all the world preaching AS A WITNESS (Matt 24:14), sent out like the originals 2x2, it only makes sense that they are in the 1st half of Israel's 70th week. That makes them the wise virgins (taken at midnight, halfway of the 70th), and the man child of Rev 12 sign. They are found worthy to escape. They are the ones in Rev 3:10. We see them in heaven in Rev 14 as the mark of the beast is being implemented. Then believing Israel runs for the wilderness.
