Also putting Dead Cell as Metrodvania always make me roll my eyes. People these days have no idea what Metrodvania or Souls-like means anymore. Saying Dead Cell is a Metrodvania is like saying Hades in a Metrodvania. And yeah, Blashphemous is a much better Metrodvania than stuff like Ori in my eye. Ori is more of a platformer with Metrodvania elements.
I genuinely believe this list is constructed in a way to attract more comments like this one here, to feed the algorithm and benefit the channel. It worked here I am, otherwise I wouldn’t comment. Good job. He left out objectively top 10 MVs of all time in any platform not just Switch and added 2 or 3 not in top 20 by any metrics instead, stealing precious limited spots.
@@QsQs-du9xp I have the physical copy with both games on the card, haven't gotten to the second game yet but Ori is definitely in my top 3 Metroidvanias list.
A must-play I'd say would be Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom. It's the seventh mainline entry in the Wonder Boy series and the quality of it is out of this world!
@@aliramirezruiz3481did you no hit all the bosses to get all the outfits and consistently beat it on 5BC? I’ve heard critiques of the game but never that it wasn’t challenging. It took me about 300 hours to do everything in the game
9 years of shadows was such a disappointment, generic and repetitive enemies, a pretty mediocre and not friendly map layout and an unbalanced difficulty make it a hard choice
I liked it but it wasn’t great. It performs so poorly on switch though, the one optional secret boss I needed to beat was glitched and only appeared as a cloud of smoke so I gave up after a few tries and settled for 98%. Was pretty disappointed
@@surestrange I played on switch and i also left it at 96% , those glitches are annoying but also the lack of balance , for me is one of the weakest metroidvania in the market
Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap was so good!! Although I really enjoy all the Wonder Boy and Monster Boy games thoughhh! I still need to play Hollow Knight and Prince of Persia also.
Never heard of 9 years of shadows, have all the other games other than Dread but plan on getting it as soon as I find a physical copy at my local game store.
The knight witch is really nice and challenging. I lobe the art style and the music. Story seems fair enough so far though I haven't finishwd the game yet.
Dead Cells is hardly a metroidvania. Ender Lilies, Axiom Verge, Blasphemous, Guacamelee, The Last Faith, and The Messanger all deserve to take its place.
9 Years of Shadows was a game I was so excited to be able to play, so much anticipation, and such a monumental letdown. Don't get me wrong, the game is gorgeous, the music and atmosphere are phenomenal, but something about the control scheme and the actual gameplay just left me feeling kinda let down. It all felt.....flat. Not sure how to better explain it. Seriously my biggest disappointment since I got my switch three years ago.
9 Years of Shadows is truely a hidden gem, but sadly still unpatched.. The framerate drops to a cripple during a very late game boss, making it impossible to finish on Switch :-(
I love the way i spend hours walking in circles never knowing where to go then just to find a bose that kills me and not figuring out how to get there again. Ya i love Metroidvainas.
I like the idea of metroidvanias but I hate when you can possible get stuck. I got stuck in hollow knight. I was trapped in the city of tears I think it's called. Has anyone else gotten stuck there? I don't mean stuck but trapped. I couldn't get out because doors and gates locked.
@@miguelgutierrez484 I put something like 20 hours into the game and then lost all my progress when I switched over to the Oled because the employee at GameStop only transferred one profile and forgot about the second. Had to start over on every game on the second profile.
A list of best metroidvanias with no blasphemous 1 or 2 really ??? 😒
axiom verge 1 is a outstanding metroidvania

You had some of the best in here. I would have also honorable mentioned bloodstained, blasphemous, and Ender Lilies
What game is thumbnailmonster from?
Came here to ask the same thing…
@@Joverine Ditto
No mention of Ender Lillies which blows most of this list out of the water
Dead Cells isn’t a metroidvania. It’s a great rogue.
I never quite understood all the fuzz around Dead Cells, it wasn't that engaging for me or my friends. Very shallow, honestly.

I love Dead Cells for all the reasons you mentioned and the DLCs available. Pretty sure there’s a Castlevania one too

Yea trash
For me it was the combined health and skill bar. Such a stupid design.
I’m glad I got it on PC for $2 then

I loved Axiom Verge.
Me too! I was hoping someone would at least mention Axiom Verge. Its sequel is even better IMO.
I don't know what ya'll keeps on including Dead Cells as a Metroidvania? Kindly explain.
It's a rogue like and Metroidvanial is the combination of 2 type of game in a only world
Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap was so good!! Although I really enjoy all the Wonder Boy and Monster Boy games thoughhh! I still need to play Hollow Knight and Prince of Persia also.
Retro is becoming the mainstream ❤
I have wonder boy, Hollow knight, Metroid dredd and Beholgar.
Samus is the law

Blasphemous I and II are much better than some of the games on that list. Blasphemous is at the same level of Dead Cells or Hollow Knogjt, top game.

Death's Gambit: Afterlife
The best
What about Ladybug Masterpieces: Touhou Luna Nights and Record of Lodoss?
Deadcells just isn't for me or any random generated levels i like keeping my progress/weapons/items/etc not starting over and over
Monster boy is much better then winder boy
dead cell = roguelike not metroidvania
Record of Lodoss War-Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth?
Blasphemous!
3:08 they copy pasted that monster from the Riddick movie
Dread is my favorite switch game!
just the hardess metroivania not for newbies
Where's The Mummy Demastered
