    Just curious: Is the wood you use seasoned or unseasoned, and does it matter which kind you use?

    • @CammiesGarage
      @CammiesGarage  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When it comes to making spoons and simple things of that nature, it does not really matter. Green/wet wood is easier to carve, but can sometimes make more of a mess because of the excess moisture.

      Maple is a good wood for spoons that is readily available in my motherland.

      @@CammiesGarage Yes, thank you for following up. I managed to find the video you made. It seems pretty straight forward. I haven't made any segmented pieces for my channel yet, but was thinking that I would need a thickness planer or large sanding disk for when I did. All the best, Rob.

    Hello, how much time does it take to make a spoon and knive? And how do i treat the wood so that it does suck water, is there a special oil or something?
    I just like the idea of making my own haha

    • @CammiesGarage
      @CammiesGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can make a utensil in a few hours. Oil will normally protect wood from liquids. I use butcher's block conditioner for wooden things meant for use in the kitchen. Good luck!

    Are there any woods that you shouldn’t use for food contact?

    • @CammiesGarage
      @CammiesGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not that I know of. Although, walnut has a chemical that is poisonous to other plants, so best not use the chips as mulch or anything like that.

    • @HJ_Lures
      @HJ_Lures 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      William Ellis I would say yes and no.. yes because skateboards are make out of maple. No because it’s dyed maple. You just don’t know what kind of dye it is.. But some one correct me if I’m wrong..
