It's unforgivable that Schneider brings Haynes to the team in the 3rd Round, a round where you expect your pick to crack the starting lineup in his first year and he gets here and they say he's not physical enough to supplant the worst OG in the NFL in Bradford. Like, you couldn't have figured out he wasn't physical enough to be an NFL lineman before you picked him in the friggin 3rd round?!! I want Schneider gone so bad. He's failed so much on his draft picks as well as his free agent signings. Don't make Pete the scapegoat here. The lack of quality talent on this team is on Schneider. We need a GM who will prioritize building an OL and can evaluate OL talent more accurately.
If everyone already knows of the o-line problems, than why haven't they solved them, by replacing or having a more mobile quarterback that doesn't sit in the pocket all day expecting 3 seconds of time to throw each time?
In the meantime the niners 3rd round gaurd is on track for pro bowl rookie season. Yeah, good job Schneider...next time just pick an undersized receiver
This is exactly what I said about Tomlinson when he was acquired. It's pretty obvious that O-Line doesn't matter to Schneider. If it did he would do something about the problem instead of the same old thing over and over again.
@@covenant11 I was begging for Schneider to bring in another OT because I just knew Lucas wasn't coming back soon (if ever) and we'd get stuck with Stone Forsythe or worse playing there. Turns out I was even too optimistic and we have Jerrell playing there now. Schneider of course did nothing.
If you have a bad o-line than you need a more mobile quarterback, not sure the 34 year old legs of Geno Smith has much left in them, especially begging for a new contract. Reminds me of Russell Wilson last few years on the Seahawks and not running and losing a lot of games.

The Hawks seem unable to complete short 7 yard passes with the ease that most other teams do regularly. We're almost always going deep. You can't win games by throwing bombs all day.
Grubb needs to implement more screens and quick passes to help this oline. Maybe even run more 11 and 12 personel. Similar to what slowik did for the texans last year
So both Schlereth and Baldinger talk about Coaching and Playcalling/Scheme. Maybe people will finally listen. What do you expect to happen when you put Geno in Empty all the time, have him pass 40 times a game. Nobody passes as much as we do. We're inviting teams to tee off on him.

Its mostly coaching. We have a rookie HC, rookie OC, and rookie Oline coach. Grubb calling so many shotgun plays makes it tougher on the Oline. Running out of shotgun so much makes it easy for linebackers to see the play develop
The offensive line doesn't hang on to the ball too long. They also don't expect the pocket to last more than 3 seconds. I've never seen them sit in the pocket and wait to be sacked either. And they don't throw interceptions by making poor decisions. If the quarterback can't make up for the weak spots in the offensive line, than maybe you have the wrong QB.
Rams fan here. If y’all can’t run the ball and it’s always 2nd or 3rd and long, you’re gonna get those coverage sacks waiting for WRs to get open. Plus our pass rush so good, we were dropping 7 and still getting to Geno with 4. We literally never had to blitz. How is that his fault?
A lot of people thinking the answer is to just shift to the short game and screens. However, all that does is invite teams to play even closer to the line. We will have just as many troubles, if not more. Atleast the consistent threat of a deep ball forces more DB’s on to the field. We are already taking advantage of the middle of the field unlike anything we have in the past 2 decades, Grubb has great deep ball concepts, his short game concepts could use some more work. The harsh truth is that our 0-line is just not playoff caliber at the moment. No amount of scheming is going to change that. Some adjustments could make us a fringe playoff team but that is our best case scenario. It is unfortunate we have all this talent at the skill but not enough on the line. There has been a dearth of effective o-linemen in the last decade that has made this additionally challenging but certain gaffs by the organization have defiantly cost us. It’s easy to get hyper focused on that and ignore the amazing amount of talent the office has picked up on the d-line, secondary, and at WR. Also, I think Connor and our new LB could be here to stay. Connor has been improving each week for the most part and if he can solidify the center position and some of our guys get back healthy then we could have a shot at a semi-decent line. Cross, Connor, and Lucas could be a solid starting 3. I’d like to see Haynes or Olu get some work at left guard. Bradford looks like he could make a big jump in year 3 but no guarantees. I’ve noticed that guys on the right rarely get to Geno like they should, while guys on the left get to him more often than they should, and I think it is because Geno clearly trusts the left side of the line more than the right, for good reason. If we didn’t have Cross at left tackle…….we’d be looking at historic levels of sack numbers right now. You don’t need all your o-linemen to be great but you do need to be able to hang your hat on something and have at least 3/1 side of the line to be dependable. I honestly think we are simply 1 quality LG away from being dramatically better on offense with Cross and Connor. If we can get better play on the right side as well then we’d be downright dangeruss. 😂 This looks like a 2-3 year retooling of the team and we are in year 1. I suspect our O-line and defense will get better and our receiving talent will get worse by the time they are done.
