Now I am looking at ankle replacement this year. I'll get it fixed and back on trail asap. I'm planning a thru-hike attempt when I retire in 3 years at 66. Thanks for all you do for the hiking community.

If it's any consolation and offers you hope, Ramdino, I hiked just short of half of the Trail last year before slipping in the New Hampshire mud (I skipped the middle miles), getting a double tear in the meniscus in my knee, which sent me home. After some rest and a cortisone shot, I returned to do a few short hikes, bringing me up to 1,100 miles - halfway last year.
I'm breaking in a replacement knee and will try to do the other half in 2025. If that's successful, I might try for a complete thru in 2026.
I'm 71 now, diabetic, with high blood pressure. I was in the best shape of my over 40 adult life by mile 800.
