Well this stereo separation on the SEGA version is terrible You can't tell if it's even in stereo sound with head phones on. At least you can hear stereo separation on the Super NINTENDO version.
That's because CPS1 and the Genesis were very similar hardware. In both sound and graphics it was weaker, but gameplay was more accurate compared to SF2T SNES because the code went over by and large unchanged where the whole game had to be rewritten on SNES. Ex. CPS1 chains work on SCE but not on HF. The same case cannot be made for SSF2. Sega had a few more arcade sound samples with a bigger cartridge, but the SNES nailed the presentation much better all around with that one.
Im going with the SNES the best on this theme, then PC Engine, then Mega Drive and then Arcade. I like the Mega Drive version theme better than the arcade but they both sound flat compared to the SNES and PC Engine versions. There not bad but just not better than the SNES and PC Engine on this one.

I am not knocking the super nintendo version, I love it , played it all day and night..the soundtrack on the snes was trying to fit the arcade music with the trademark snes engine sound, whereas the megadrive version went for a near perfect arcade conversion, yes the graphics and sprites may have lacked the colour palette of the arcade and snes, but the essence of the streetfighter games we all so dearly loved growing up, is in both conversions, which I feel should be the main argument between both versions, not the tired argument of the snes graphics and sound vs megadrive graphics and sound, the same argument I kept hearing for 30 odd years lol..I thought game play is vital...when we had nintendo 8 bit and mario 1, I didn't hear anyone complain about the graphics and music being crap, we all loved it because it was fun...isn't that why we play video games in the first place? Or is it just me? 😕
Except that you overlook a lot of things! About Street Fighter II, SNES has better background graphics but sprites look the same. Also Mega Drive has more detailed backgrounds (few more details/objects here and there) with also more animations + IMO the Mega Drive has better sound (scratchy but more accurate voices and IMO much better music). But dude what about gameplay? You say gameplay is vital yet you don't elaborate despite that gameplay is indeed THE most important part and the Mega Drive trumps them all, with fast and smooth gameplay that includes the CPS-1 combos (unlike PC Engine and SNES) and this version also has exclusive game modes and tons of turbo options! Best 4th gen console version and a game that never fails to entertain me.
@@ryzmaker11 Speaking about the graphics, the Genesis version is based on the SNES version which is lower resolution rather than making from scratch. That is why sprites are identical. There is a video showing a beta release of Street Fighter 2 for the Sega Genesis made in Sega standard clearly superior to the original SNES especially the sound voice. The scratchy sounds is Capcom's fault considering the beta version has no issue.
@@Tippotipo The beta wasn't by Sega. Capcom outsourced the development to what is an undisclosed developer yet. As for the resolution, both beta versions seem to use the Mega Drive H32 mode i.e. 256x224 pixels (which is the same as the SNES default resolution). But the beta has indeed clearer voices but the voices in the final release aren't bad at all, they sound kinda rough but SNES voices are less accurate (some samples are shortened) and they sound muffled so I prefer the Mega Drive voices. Overall Street Fighter' SCE on Mega Drive is the best console version of its time but, yeah, it could have been even better had it used the Mega Drive H40 mode i.e. 320x224 pixels + with bigger sprites (à la Eternal Champions). And if such version would have been released around the same time as SNES version, the Mega Drive would have benefited from a huge boost in sales.
